ive gotta stop staring at the original and mine side by side.
its making me self-conscious, even though ive literately never painted before,theirs is so smooth andlooks like shiny, clean hair, and mine just looks like its done by a) a beginner and b) in a different style, which, both are true? i did go off book with the shape and messiness, but im not sure id call that a style as much as i would call it “taking small liberties”
EITHER WAY IM PROUD AND IT LOOKS GOOD FOR ME NOT HAVING USED MY TABLET IN MONTHS! <3

okay so most of the facial features need practice. im SUPER proud of that cheek bone tho.
wanted to work on hair, but got bored, so looked up tutorials on how to paint hair, and found this lovely piece by ryky on deviant art (link above). it made painting the hair SUPER easy, especially for someone like me whos never used the paint function in sai before.
i totally recommend looking at the piece, it really breaks it down into managable steps! the pencil-like lines and base AND hair colours are theirs, cause i used a screen cap to get the shape right, but the application of the skills the piece they made taught are all mine! this totaly wouldnt have been possible with out them, so if you read this, ryky, thank you for the tutorial!
the tutorial was only for the hair tho, i felt cocky andjust extrapolated for the skin, and i basically went at it, like; “where would [my favourite youtube makeup artist) put her highlights and bronzer??” which… did NOT go as badly as it could have tbh.
but no, yeah. its been a while since i uploaded. so have something im super proud of!
also if ryky has a tumblr, please tell me so i can tag them!

I'm kinda ashamed to ask this, but could you make a tutorial on how to draw hands? ;A;
omg dont be ashamed at all!! Hands are generally tough to get used to, lots of artists struggle with it! so dont be ashamed i feel you.
and I actually have made a hand anatomy guide before in fact! If you want to get better at drawing hands I def recommend you learn the basic anatomy first. Please check out the ones I made, I try to make it simple and easy to understand:
Artistic Anatomy: Hands Part 1
Artistic Anatomy: Hands Part 2
There’s my guide to the anatomy, but here’s some more tips that I’ve noted to myself that I’d like to include
First off, I’d like to just note on the fingers: if you pay close attention to your own hand, you may notice the fingers are ever ever so slightly curved inward. It’s a very subtle detail, but I noticed that, despite how slight it is, it can make a hand look more lively, and less stiff.
Second, the “M” on the palm! Your hand moves in many ways, and because it does it creates creases in your hand. The most prominent creases appear to make an M shape; this is handy to remember for what I’m going to talk about next. (It also could be a “W” I guess, or to be more specific a “ )X( “; just think of it in whatever way helps you remember!)
SO now that you see the M, draw your hand as a basic blocked shape and add your details. As you do, you can see that the M divides the palm into four basic parts!
When the hand moves, parts A, B, or C of the palm, alone or in different combos, will create the general poses that the hands do normally. These parts are the parts that move, with D being stationary, no matter what!
Here’s a chart of all the possible combos. Once you have down what part of the hand moves for a certain pose, you can change up the fingers and tweak it a bit to do what you need to make it more specific!
This is simply my method of drawing hands. God knows there are hundreds of tutorials out there by other artists, but personally, this way helps me the best (after learning the anatomy first).
This way I can divide the hand and combine the parts in any such way I need!
Hands take a lot of effort to grapple, and you need to practice them a lot, especially foreshortening of the hand; that’s really something you need to learn through your own studies. Look at your own hands, draw hands from life, from magazines, shows, comics; just draw hands! You’ll eventually figure out a method that works best for you. So to get better at drawing hands; draw hands!! And don’t stress over it, have fun with it!

i was inspired to draw by both this girl with brilliant pink hair i saw walking by the mall, and by the amazing @kiikiibee (hi, if youre seeing this. welcome to my art terrible, poorly upkept, art-blog)
i definitely need more practice, but im proud of this!
note: her hair was straight and in a pony, but im couldnt get that to look right, also i can’t remember what she was wearing; so, she’s the inspiration, not the subject.

⚠ARTISTS ALL OVER THE WORLD I NEED YOUR HELP⚠
I found this sketchbook in a restaurant and It may be impossible but I want to find the author.

The sketchbook was found in El Albaicín, Granada, Spain and I think the artist isn’t Spanish, maybe a Chinese tourist or someone who are learning Chinese but who knows u_u
In the drawings you can see some monuments of differents sites of Spain, that’s why I think she/he could be a tourist D:
I already tweeted it and a lot of people are sharing (all my love for you guys<3) but I want to try to find him/her here too
F.A.Q:
- Did you ask the restaurant staff if they know it?: I’m the restaurant staff, I work there and we can’t remember who is the owner, sorry - Did you use the reverse image search in Google?: Yes, I do and got nothing u_u
- Can you check the CCTV?: Em… no… We don’t have it in the terrace and my boss would never let me see them - What you could do is put a note at the door of the restaurant saying ‘have you lost?’ : I’m the only one in the restautrant who cares about this and again my boss would never let me do that.
- If they are a tourist and you just found it recently, they are probably still travelling and might not check their social media as often: Yes, I know, but maybe someone can recognize his/her style or something
Please, just share and help me to find him/her ;_;
Thank you!
