SOLS/SOLOS/SOILS is an exploration of process-based practices and healing through community craft making, taking its premises from Turning Grounds (2022), a self-initiated and site-specific residency which mutated into a transcontinental and intergenerational collective sculpture.
Through the preservation of local savoir-faire and its cultural heritage as a tool of empowerment, the creative processes look at the dichotomy between long time-based organic craft practices versus high speed production and industrial waste, with an interest in the idea of performing productivity and labour in a time of collective healing.
Turning Grounds uses artistic methodology and a process-driven practice to research the sustainability of materials and their potentialities, to be re-used, mutated or left behind, by sharing an interest in initiating interactions and connections through collective moments in community-based contexts of makeshift resilience.
