i could write a whole essay about how the intersection of stephen king and electric light orchestra has impacted me. elo's whole first four album run is incredibly dark tower-esque, especially no answer, on the third day, and eldorado. they all seem to have themes of beauty in forgotten things to me. like the dark tower. a rose. a world that has moved on. things winding down. nellie takes her bow. battle of marston moore and the entirety of eldorado with their medieval themes, especially the medieval fantasy of the latter. the dreamer. stephen king loves the lovely dreamer and so does jeff lynne. Oh No Not Susan clearly being a reference to susan delgado. it all makes so much sense. its all so wonderful

I read...

I read yesterday. Not a little. A whole book. With no guilt. No worry about all the things I need to do. I just picked up a book and read until I reached the end. Then I went to bed and thought about what a wonderful day it was.

When I worked at a bookstore, I learned that when an author like Dean Koontz signs his books, their resale value goes up.

I also learned that when an author like Stephen King signs Dean Koontz's books, the price goes even higher and that Dean Koontz is not amused by this.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.

then they started fighting Covid precautions.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.

now my parents think climate change is a myth.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.

then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.

now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.

you can guess who they voted for.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, so very much.

when did they forget?
