I do like playing with the new copilot AI, you can have huge fun. This is Obi-Wan letting himself just go for the long haired hippy Jedi look.

A fic rec/reminder
Did I recommend this story? If not, how slack of me, because it is a fabulous, wonderful, constantly re-readable story. With writing like this:
"No. No. You could not have him before, you will not have him now. It is still as much a lie as it has ever been, just in a different key. Even worse, Vader knows about his children. He saw them in Obi-Wan’s mind, he has clearly worked out the truth, and for all Obi-Wan knows, he is dispatching troopships to Alderaan and Tatooine at this very moment, to undo everything that those ten years of barren exile were intended to protect. He is caught between soaring euphoria and crushing despair. He does not know how to possibly contain what is spilling from him right now, blazing like a searchlight, scouring him to dust, because he cannot help but love the Skywalkers with every atom of his soul. That, more than anything, is perhaps his greatest sin, the realization that no matter how much he tries to be a perfect Jedi, he is flawed beyond all recompense. And yet, even now, Obi-Wan cannot forswear it."
how could I not love it. It is a story of finding each other again, working through pain and darkness to redemption and a most satisfying end, with an excellent story along the way. I just wish the author wrote more SW because man, I'd be there for it.

I need help finding a story on AO3.
Its an AU where Obi-Wan has (apparently) become a Sith, apprentice to Sideous and he and Anakin and the Jedi go through a great deal of trauma and pain before the eventual altered outcome. I've tried searching using various filters without success. Its superbly written and Im hoping someone has it bookmarked or remembers it. The story was complete and a decent length.

One thing that puzzled me about the planet in Ep 6 of Ahsoka: the rings are supposedly made up of the corpses of the space whales, but all you see are bones. Surely if its space, a vacuum, any corpses would just freeze and not decompose. And yeah, I know it looks magic. Maybe the whole Witch magic thing has something to do with it....
I cant help it, my logic just kicks in now and then...

Was listening to some SW music and the score from the end section of the fight between Luke and Vader came on and it really is one of the saddest pieces of music in SW. It just encapsulates Luke's misery at having to fight the father he'd been wanting all his life in order to save his sister from that same father. Very sad.

Imagines a scenario where the senate requests Yoda to have the Clone army led by the Jedi - and Yoda says no. He reiterates that the Jedi are an order dedicated to peace, negotiation, assistance and not to war. That they are not trained in matters of warfare on a grand scale, that the Senate must use its resources to train officers from among their own forces to lead any armies. The jedi will be there to offer healing, rescue of civilian populations and resource management but will only fight individually if they are personally attacked.
Meantime, off stage, Palpatine grinds his teeth in annoyance....

What if...
What if's are one of the fun things about any story or event. Imagining how history or a character would have changed had one thing or another happened, or not happened.
So a favorite Star Wars one for me is: what would have happened if Anakin had sat down with Obi-Wan, told him about how he loved Padme, how they were married, how important she was to him and so on.
Would Obi-Wan have rejected him? Would he have informed the Council about it? Would he have offered Anakin advice and if so, what?
If I judge Obi-Wan's reaction purely on canon, on who and what he was in the films well - it was said a number of times that Obi-Wan thought the world of Anakin, that he saw him as not only a padawan or a friend, but as a brother. And you just don't betray or deny a brother, someone who meant so much to you. After all, he was completely unable to kill him, despite everything that he became and did. I think he would have sat down with both of them and tried to come up with some solution that didn't end up hurting both of them. He would have offered them morale support. He would have said, living a lie just festers the spirit, like a wound that never heals. You cannot continue to love and to hide it, you have to let it out into the sunshine, rejoice in it, let it be a strength rather than a weakness. I believe in you both, he would have said, I believe you can be strong enough . But don't let that love be a weakness, because weakness is a wound that lets infection in.
If course Anakin would say something like, but there is the attachment rule, they won't let me stay a Jedi will they, if I tell them? And Obi-Wan might say, they probably won't be very happy about it but what ultimately can they do? Force you to divorce your wife? Force you both to suffer? That isn't what the Jedi are about, or what they should be about. They will probably be more angry that you hid your actions, than that you took the actions at all. Just get it into the open and stay calm. Trust in me, and trust in Padme, and be strong.
Things might still have gone badly but at least Obi-Wan would know and would be supportive at a time when Anakin would benefit from that support.

My first ventures into the weird and whacky world of Alpha/Omega was that most unlikely of pairings, Garrosh/Varian. I discovered a story I'd finished but not posted, so put it up on the archive. It reminded me of what a fun pairing it was.

Another fic rec
Just when you thought everything possible about any AU featuring Obi-Wan and post-Order66 Anakin/Vader had been explored, you find something else that sets the whole pairing alight again. Catchclaw offered up "The Weight of His Own Wants" in just under 13k of wonderful words which shows that even a broken Anakin swallowed in the Sith of Vader cannot resist a Top Obi-Wan, anymore than we can.
Go read, for the pleasure of elegant midnight blue silkspun robes, golden eyed yet still lovely Sith and how little the Dark Side can stand against passionate love.

My request
Not that anyone out there is like to do it, but here is my fic request:
Gen - Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi etc AU
Luke is out flying his X Wing somewhere, goes through some weird wormhole and comes out in the days of the Clone Wars where his father is still a Jedi, the Emperor is still the Chancellor and Obi-Wan is definately alive and kicking.
Only a genetic scan will confirm his connection to Anakin and the impossibility of their ages matching him being Anakin's son so obviously something timey-wimey is going on here. But will anyone believe what he has to tell them, will it make a difference, can he change anything for the better?
Oh, and he gets to meet his mum and think wow, Leia sure does look like her....
Now, if somebody already wrote this, point me at it.

Do you ever go to Archive of Our Own and do a search on a favorite character or two with a few specifications just to see what's there?
Did that today, picking Star Wars/Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker/Completed/Hits and read just one of the most enjoyable stories I've read in a while. It sounds silly (Vader and Luke stuck up a tree) but trust me, its worth your time to read it. It deserves to be real.

Silliest Vaderkin I ever wrote
which I titled in my head "you only shove a lightsaber into the ones you love"
The fight had been going surprisingly well for Obi-Wan, until it wasn’t.
The tiniest of missteps, the slightest misjudgement of forward momentum and downward angle of an opposing lightsaber and…
“Owwww…”
He looked down at the red hissing ‘saber shoved through his right side, looked up at Vader’s frozen figure and the world started turning horizontal.  He was grabbed as he fell and his lightsaber dropped from his hand.
“Good…hit..”   Seemed appropriate to offer positive reinforcement to your once-padawan when he actually did something right for a change.
“You will not die.  I demand you survive.”
“Always…telling me what to do.  Excuse me…I might…pass..out…”  He apparently did because the next thing he knew he was sitting in another unfamiliar vessel with Vader’s breathing sounds very loud near him.  The Dark Lord-once-Anakin was sitting next to him in the pilot’s seat and a starship entry bay was visible through the front windows.  Talking took too much breath and way too much thinking so he just closed his eyes and tried communing with the Force, which appeared to be absent just then.
The thud of landing and the feel of being once again picked up brought him back, and Vader was carrying him down the ramp.  Various Imperial types were milling around and one of them who was striding forward through the pack caught his attention.  His eyes narrowed as the Grand Inquisitor stopped and did an obsequious bow.
“Can I..have my lightsaber…”
The traitous once-Jedi glanced at Obi-Wan in surprise as Vader brushed past him.  “Be quiet, you may not have your lightsaber.”
“My Lord, congratulations!”
Obi-Wan glared, despite having to twist to see him.  “Frick you!”
They were past him before Obi-Wan could see more the first look of surprise on that ugly white face.
“I am shocked,” Vader said in a surprisingly amused tone.  “Such language!”
“Well,” Obi-Wan muttered, wriggling into a more comfortable position against the hard armored chest, “he is a piece of bantha poodoo, I’m…ouch…surprised you haven’t honed your rage on him by now.”
“I admit, it has been a close thing lately.”
“Just…give into the impulse and do the Universe a favour.”
“Master Kenobi, that is almost a Dark Side response you had there.”  He planted his burden onto a medical floater and walked beside it with one hand on Obi-Wan’s arm.  “Such dangerous emotions.”
“Hmph.  After being dragged through fire, insulted and used as a target dummy by you, a little dark feeling is hardly unexpected.”
“An excellent start.”
As the doctors took him away, he issued a final taunt.  “If you think you will turn me into a Sith or something similar, you can forget that.  I’d make a terrible Sith.  I’d be telling you to search your feelings and consider options and not to be so aggressive…”
He had the feeling Vader might be rethinking his plans….

Stories I started and never knew where to take them...
I have a bunch of story snippets and ideas and things I played around with and many of them I just couldn't decide where to take them.
This one I liked but it seemed to be just too much like so many other stories of the same theme so it just sat there as I tried to come up with something different. So far, nothing different has occurred to me...
Apparently, suiciding via Darth Vader’s lightsaber to save Vader’s own children was considered, by the Light, to be worthy of a second chance.  Obi-Wan’s claim of being more powerful than his once-upon-a-time friend and brother had perhaps been a bit grandiose, if well intentioned.  Oddly it turned out to be true, even if indirectly, when the said Force determined that balance must be achieved by returning a tired old Jedi into the body of a somewhat less tired and younger Jedi at a pivotal moment in his past life.
And when he returned to life and rather quickly recognised his situation, it seemed to be time to reconsider his options, especially as it related to Anakin Skywalker, and the aspect of the Force that needed to have balance applied to it.
“I am what you made me.”
Obi-Wan shuddered.  One moment he’d felt the scarlet lighsaber slice through him and being taken from life and into the Force, and the next – he was staggering upright, a lit lightsaber in both hands, and very much alive.  He blinked, trying to clear his focus and the Force hit him in a wave of familiar power.  The world around him was dark but that was simply the lack of normal light because it was night, and the weapon in his shaking hands cast a blue/white glow, almost blindingly bright.  But that voice was also all too familiar.  He lowered the ‘saber as he tried to collect his thoughts, to make sense of what had happened.
But it seemed he wasn’t going to be given a lot of time to make sense of anything because the undeniable living bulk of Darth Vader…Anakin..started stomping towards him, the same lightsaber that had quite recently killed him held in his hands.
Mapuzo his damaged memory supplied.  Or perhaps the Force did in a handy sudden download of information to his aching mind.  He’d fought (fairly badly) against Vader there and barely escaped with his life after Vader had given into an urge to torture his old Master.  And for some reason the Force or Fate or something else had deposited him back there to enjoy the experience again.
“Wait!”  He held up a hand and, surprised, Vader had stopped.  “We need to talk.”
A snort of dark amusement came from the masked figure.  “We do not.”  He started walking again and, despite a reasonable instinct to back up, Obi-Wan stayed where he was.  As Vader reached him, he remembered the words he’d seen carved in the wall of the hut not far from where they stood.
Only when the eyes are closed can you truly see
He needed to focus, to block out everything, to think.  He closed his eyes and sought the Way.  Normally it would show him the Light but this time he sensed the Darkness in Vader, growing stronger moment by moment.  The Way of the Force, it seemed to say, was this time not into the Light, but closer to the Darkness, to find that balance in the Force that Anakin was meant to be.  It seemed more was required of him than to simply die again.
Obi-Wan opened his eyes that were filled with the humming buzz of a lightsaber very close to him and the man who held it filling his vision.
“No,” he whispered.  He looked at the lightsaber in his hand tossed it away.  No more fighting, no more cutting away at whatever was left of his friend.  “No,” he said again as he watched the dark figure pause, sensed his curiosity.  “I will not fight you.  Not again.”
Darth Vader…Anakin…walked the last couple of steps towards him, using a sliver of the Force to lift the fallen lightsaber into his hand.  “If you hope for mercy from me, you will be disappointed.”
“I expect nothing,” Obi-Wan said, holding himself firm as Vader came very close, the red light of his lightsaber casting an eerie glow in the half-dark.  “I am yours to do with as you wish.”
“Why?”  The voice was harsh, edged with uncertainty.
“Because I am tired.  Tired of living in holes and hovels, sleeping in the dirt and scrounging for food.  I am tired of losing, it’s taken too long to get to the end of that loss.  And I’m very tired of being alone.”
Vader clipped Obi-Wan’s lightsaber to his belt as he stood and raised his own bright blade and Obi-Wan closed his eyes to not see another fatal strike.  He waited for the pain but when it didn’t come he opened his eyes and watched the brightness disappear.  A fierce mechanical grip took hold of his arm and pulled him forward so that he stumbled into the armored body and was held in place, looking up and up.
“I have searched for you for a very long time.”
“I didn’t even know you were alive.”
“And now that you do, you think you know me, know what to expect from me?”
The grip had hardened as both hands held him and he wondered if he imagined the brief shudder in that regulated breathing, or the slight shake of the iron grip.  “I don’t know what you are now, or how much of what you were remains.   We have each lost so much of ourselves.”  He licked dry lips and thought of ashes.  “But I would like to find out.”
He was released so suddenly that he stumbled, but managed to stand.  Vader stepped back and turned.  “What you wish or like is irrelevant.  You will follow me.”
There was the assumption of control in that deep, mechanical tone but then Obi-Wan had basically handed himself over so running away again was hardly an option.  He followed, walking to one side and slightly behind the striding figure, feeling strangely serene.  He hoped that Tala had Leia and was on her way to Alderaan, but all of that was currently outside his control.  All he could do was centre Vader’s attention him and bury every thought and feeling about the children as deeply as he could.  The knowledge of Luke and Leia was one part of himself he could not reveal.  The rest was unpredictable, and oddly exciting.

the problem with A03
It's come to my attention that there is some sort of upcoming issue with Archive of Our Own and something called AI scraping. I don't really understand it but a lot of writers are very concerned and are stating they will withdraw all their fiction if this thing (whatever it is) comes to pass.
It would be very disappointing to lose all that wonderful written work and I'm hoping it isn't as bad as it seems.

Another Obikin story idea, given away free
I was inspired for this by remembering an old romance story I read years ago.
So picture Obi-Wan as a mild mannered librarian working in a small town in the US. Romance has passed him by and he thinks of himself as settled in his ways and content, though he is missing something.
A group of his fellow library workers tell him they are going out on Friday night to see this apparently amazing famous male dancer at the local club and they drag a rather unwilling Obi along. And he witnesses the most erotic and gorgeous young man he has ever seen doing a near-naked dance routine and, in his slightly inebriated and embarassed state, hurries to leave, he falls over and hits his head. When he comes too he is lying on the floor and his head is pillowed on said young man's thigh....
It was the image of Obi-Wan, glasses askew and feeling rather silly, looking up into Anakin's smiing face.
