Nothing gets me motivated to work on cosplay more than coming home from a convention. Meeting friends who make matching cosplans, seeing what other cosplayers are bringing to the party, and getting recognized and complimented even in my super-obscure cosplays did so much to refill my motivation battery.

I spent a good half-hour chatting with some of the contest judges about cosplay and they were just really incredibly nice!! I started picking their brains about how to make a simple design (like laios) something competition-worthy that stands out. They talked about finish, shading and highlights, painting and weathering, and all that stuff. In the end though, what really stuck with me is this professional looking at me rowards the end of the conversation and very matter-of-factly saying "I know I haven't told you anything you didn't know already, so I hope that just hearing someone else say it helps."

Y'all. It felt like he took my imposter syndrome by the throat and crushed it like it an empty soda can. I did know it all. And i knew how to do everything he suggested already. Theres not some trick. I know it already.

It's hard to say something could be worse than what's already happened, nothing I could say wouldn't already apply, but this would massively increase the scale of this ongoing atrocity. Any pressure that can be brought to bear to stop it must be applied.
