This used to be my Cobra Kai blog, but I have recently discovered the true convolution of this hellsite when I realized I couldn't actually follow people with my Stranger Things sideblog. I wanna go back to posting fic here, so I'm gonna just reblog it with these following sideblogs depending on the fandom. I love you Johnny lawrence, you mess of a human being but next season I swear you better fight for Robby. Protect your son because if I have learned anything from TKK3 Silver is so good at exploiting weakness and Robby has so many soft spots... to say I am WORRIED is an understatement.

Hypothetically, if someone were to write a lawrusso-focused cobra kai AU fic where instead of a karate drama it’s a star-trek-inspired story about interplanetary bounty hunting crews, would anyone be interested in that?

I assumed that, since they didn’t show it, his explanation was essentially identical to the ones that were already on screen, those being the conversations he had with the Miyagi-do kids and with Sam. I don’t think he’d have talked out his feelings about it with Johnny at that point, and if he had, Johnny would not have responded in that way.

Like, I still can’t get over that the only person we know for certain Daniel explained the events of tkk3 to was Johnny. And that explanation occurred completely off-screen, and Johnny seemingly ignored/brushed it off entirely. Which begs the question—what did he say to Johnny? Was it the truth, something closer to the warning speech he gave to Robby (“he’ll push you past your limits, but he won’t stop there—he’s sick and twisted and when he’s done with you, you won’t be you anymore”)? Or was it closer to the speech he gave to the Miyagi-Do’s in season 2, about willingly joining Cobra Kai and it turning him angry and violent? Was it somewhere in between? Neither? Will we ever find out? Do the writers even deem this necessary to explore, or is this all we’re ever going to get? Is the audience going to be perpetually left guessing how Daniel feels and recalls the events of that movie? Are audience members who didn’t see the movie going to be perpetually left guessing as to what happened at all?

Honestly it was really mature that Johnny took “SOME of your techniques are good SOMETIMES” and responded with “I was projecting my own insecurities on your relationship with my student and that was wrong” like, those are not equivalent.

After reading this I tried to think of the worst, most hated same-sex couple they could put on screen. Now it’s in my brain and you all need to suffer with me: Stingray x Terry Silver, the true NOTP.

actually the thing about cobra kai is that it's a bit like star trek, in that there's a general inability to write romance, unless it's unintentional, which makes me mildly more tolerant of bad romances

im used to just saying i do not see it the second a writer/director gets too uppity about his (deliberate use of his) attempts at creating sexual and romantic tension

like i think if any main characters do become a same-sex couple it will be done in a way where it's characters nobody wanted to get together and also don't work

and i think that's true equality

thinking about johnny one day asking daniel if he ever misses jersey and daniels like. i mean i guess yeah. hes been back a few times to see the extended larussos who still live out there so hes not like pining away for newark or anything but it was still a big part of his childhood, so sure. and johnnys like you know ive actually never been outside of california and daniel says Oh Really and internally hes like oh my god. yes. and he goes, well if you want you and robby are welcome to come w us to xmas this year. yknow if u were curious. and johnny says sure what the hell why not. and daniels like. just a warning. its pretty cold. and california johnny, who has never experienced like below 60 degrees, is like. Im A Man. What The FUCK Can a Little Cold Do To Me. ooh my god. oh my god. oh my god it would be so fucking FUNNY

Just rewatched the scene to be sure I wasn’t misremembering and holy shit the “okay, I tried.” Like, bitch? You apologized one (1) time, and he didn’t fucking believe you. Give him ANY reason to, and he might. But nah, he just gave up and went right back into cobra kai threats.

I call bullshit, Terry Silver was ITCHING to do some truly evil shit again, and these writers need to rewatch what they made if they don’t see that. His behavior makes 0 sense otherwise.

I think if the ck writers wanted Daniel’s reaction to Terry’s apology seem overly rude or aggressive they should have,,, written it that way? Iirc, he just tells him he doesn’t believe him and to go the fuck away, both entirely fair things to say to your literal abuser’s apology, especially when part of that abuse was deception.
