I feel like one of the things that separates a good tarot reader and a great tarot reader is their understanding of the relationships between the cards.
I've noticed with a lot of the newer tarot readers that I see around is that the tend to focus on only one card at a time. When doing spreads, they look at the question and the card and say "this equals that", like everything is just a bunch of straight lines, when, in reality, it's more like noodle soup. Lines are connecting everything in more than just one way.
Not only do you have to connect the question to the card, but you also have to look at how that answer interacts with other answers you've gotten and how it'll affect your interpretation of the following answers.
It is always such a joy being there to see tarot readers evolve and grow, and I see understanding that a reading is much more like a private eye's cork bord than a cut and dry equation as one of the fundamental milestones a reader has to pass in order to truly provide excellent readings.

nature witch tip🪵🌱
Wood barks/chippings promotes protection (esp from an oak tree!)
i used the skin of a fallen branch for this, i used the wood for other witchy projects, and saved the skin for my jars and mesh bags!
i used it for car protection; in a mesh bag i placed:
wood bark and chippings
rosemary
chamomile flowers (i used dried flowers)
a bay leaf with my chosen rune of protection
cloves
hanged it up my rearview mirror, then cleansed my car (before and after) and visualized white energy flowing around inside and outside the car
Lately there was a level 4 Hurricane here in Florida, tried my best to physically protect my home (and it’s energy too).
Just did a grocery run yesterday, i was nervous to see my car with water damage, but it was safe 🥹 no flooding, no water that got in my engine 🥹 and the mesh bag hanging still on my rearview mirror.
i hope this tip can help my fellow witches, (and for our baby witches too🥹)

Witch things to add in your room, poor person edition
Fuck it Most of witchcraft people tell you to buy shit. So here's some stuff u can do for free
grab some sticks from the ground, bind them together in a shape you like, add intent (usually protection), hang it up
make a flower crown, add protection intent, dry it out, hang it up. protection spell and real ward. regularly recharge intent.
dry plants, set warding intent, hang them up.
crushed eggshells on your window sill to prevent bad energy.
wear a bandana or veil somewhere on your body, sometimes i use mine as belts, to protect from bad vibes.
paint your nails in the color meaning you want. mine are pink for self attraction rn
when you light up a candle always ask if theres a spirit or entity there, pyromancy skills can be learned through google, tumblr, and tiktok.
Regularly clean and rearrange your altar if you can't practice everyday, this keeos the space clean and shows entities around that even if ur not active, you're still a witch
A cup of water can be an offering to anyone, imagine being an entity and you can't have water at all for centuries??
If you have glasses, draw a sigil on them while you clean them (i usually wash mine with soap and water to make it extra clean ((and dry with paper towels)))
Give your wall art jobs. Sure they can be decorative, or they can be extra eyes to watch you while you sleep to make sure no one messes with you. (Ive had so much wall art fall in the middle of the night and turns out smth was trying to get in my room...)
If you have black-out/thick curtains, let the sun in!!! I keep them tied during the day so i can use natural light and ease up my electricity bill
Change ur bedsheets semi regularly, it doesn't need to be every week, but keep in mind bedbugs and other entities can get trapped there... or even try to get there to make your sleep unrestful.
If your room is a bio-hazard, at least make pathways so you can walk without injuring yourself.
Thats all i have for now <3 blessed be and fuck capitalism

hello, yes, sorry to bother, but I was wondering if you had any other authors, people, ect, I should stay away from when reading and learning? I'm fairly new to everything. again, sorry to bother
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an unproblematic pagan author. Even the ones who seem like they’re doing things mostly right have their flaws.
Here are the ones to avoid, fullstop:
Silver Ravenwolf - Conflates Wicca and witchcraft, claims only Wiccans are true witches, erases non-Wiccan witches and pagans, constant Christian-bashing, misinformation, false history, cultural appropriation, contradicts herself, hateful rhetoric, racism, history of attacking critics.
D.J. Conway - HUGE problems with incorrect information about deities, questionable interpretations of historical events, also conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
Raymond Buckland - Appropriates closed cultures, uses the g-slur to exoticize certain rituals and techniques, propagates false history (documentary on “The Burning Times” is utter rubbish).
Edain McCoy - Yet more misinformation about deities and history (POTATO GODDESS!?), mostly where it applies to certain Celtic-associated personages and events. Tries to make EVERYTHING Irish, especially when it’s not.
Catherine Yronwode - Racist, perpetual bully, claims LGBTQ+ teens should kill themselves and along with her husband has provided pamphlets and counseling to encourage this, known for attacking people online, threatens critics and pirates with death magic. Oh and she claims New Orleans voodoo is “fake” to bolster her own credibility.
Christian Day - The problem here isn’t so much with his writing as with his personality. The man is a rape apologist and has harassed women on social media on numerous occasions after they’ve called him out for problematic statements, and has threatened other Salem practitioners over personal and business disputes.
Here’s what to look out for with the decent ones:
Judika Illes - Supports Silver Ravenwolf, conflates voodoo and hoodoo, some cultural appropriation.
Scott Cunningham - Outdated information (not his fault, he died in the early 1990s), incorrect correspondences, proponent of “The Burning Times” myth, incorrect history, conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
Tess Whitehurst - Frequently quotes her own beliefs as fact without supporting evidence, conflation of deities and practices.
Ellen Dugan - Vehemently against Christian witches, proponent of “The Burning Times” myth, sometimes conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
S. Connelly - Conflates voodoo and hoodoo, cultural appropriation from both.
Dorothy Morrison - Some cultural appropriation, conflates hoodoo and witchcraft.
Anna Riva - Outdated information (1970s), some appropriation, conflation of voodoo and witchcraft, mild misuse of Christian terminology and rhetoric.
Keep in mind, this list is far from exhaustive, and there are plenty of authors that I have read and not seen problems with, but that may be because I’m not looking at it from the right angle.
For instance, everyone seems to have a problem with Kate West, but I’ve found her books to be helpful and informative and aside from the obvious Wiccan fingerprinting (which you’ll find in most modern pagan literature). And I’m sure someone is going to tell me in the notes of this post exactly what it is I’m missing.
The important thing with any witchy or pagan book is to read critically and use your brains. If something doesn’t make sense or doesn’t seem to jive with what you know about history or religion, look it up in a non-witchy book. Read up on history and religion from academical sources. Read up on botany and herbology. Build a practical knowledge base so that when you run across problematic statements, you know which way the wind is blowing…and more importantly, whether it smells like bullshit.

✿ A list of most (if not all) wicca holidays
✮ Lammas (Lughnasadh) – Pagan/Wiccan Aug 1st
Lammas, also known as Loafmas or Lughnasadh, commemorates the harvest of the first grains, primarily for breadmaking. Lughnasadh itself is named after Lugh, a Celtic deity associated with grain. Lammas celebrations include feasting, crafting corn dollies, and participating in games and contests as a way to honor Lugh and the bounty of the season.
✮ Mabon (Fall Equinox) – Pagan/Wiccan Sept 21st
Mabon, celebrated at the fall equinox, marks the transition to the approaching darkness of the coming winter months. Mabon celebrations involve giving thanks for the harvest, making offerings of fruits and vegetables, and performing ceremonies to honor the equinox’s change from the light half of the year to the dark. Decorations made of corn, squash, vines and pumpkins are common.
✮ Samhain (All Hallows Eve) – Pagan/Wiccan Oct 31st
Samhain today marks the end of the harvest, the start of the Pagan/Wiccan New Year, and the honoring of our ancestors and the dead. Samhain celebrations include lighting candles, setting up altars, and modern activities like costume parties, trick-or-treating, and jack-o’-lanterns.
✮ Yule (Winter Solstice) – Pagan/Wiccan Dec 21st
Yule, celebrated at the winter solstice, marks the day on which the “sun is reborn.” Yule celebrations include the burning of the Yule log, kissing under the mistletoe, decorating homes with holly and evergreen branches, and performing rituals to welcome the return of the sun’s warmth and light to the world.
✮Imbolc (Candlemas) – Pagan/Wiccan Feb 2nd
Imbolc heralds the first signs of spring and is dedicated to Brigid, a Celtic goddess of poetry and fire who was later canonized by the Catholic Church. Imbolc celebrations include candlelit processions, the lighting of a hearth fires, and sending blessings to the fields and farm animals.
✮Ostara (Spring Equinox) – Pagan/Wiccan May 21st
Ostara, celebrated at the spring equinox, marks the beginning of the light half of the year and the arrival of spring. Ostara is celebrated by the coloring and decorating of eggs, planting of seeds, and performing rituals that honor the balance of light and dark.
✮Beltane (May Day) – Pagan/Wiccan May 1st
Beltane is a joyful fertility festival that welcomes the height of spring and celebrates the divine feminine and masculine coming together in fruitful union. Beltane celebrations include dancing around the Maypole, wearing wreaths or crowns of flowers, the crowning of a May Queen, and the lighting of bonfires.
Litha/Midsummer (Summer Solstice) – Pagan/Wiccan June 21st
Litha, celebrated at the summer solstice, marks when the sun is at its maximum power and the longest day of the year. Litha celebrations include lighting bonfires, outdoor feasts, and rituals that honor the warmth and light of the sun and the season’s abundance.

Foundation of Witchcraft: Spellcraft Science 🪄🧪
Witchcraft and science are more similar than we think. Both require just as much care, focus, and experimentation. Approaching your spellwork like how a scientist would approach an experiment, would create more reliable and effective spellwork and outcomes.
From cleansing your space and tools to recording your spells like a lab report, it allows for a more systematic and reliable record of what does and doesn't work for you. It also makes it easier for you to reproduce, improve, or adjust your spell work into the best results.
1) Write Out Your Hypothesis
This is where you write what you want to happen and record your hypothesis.
2) List Out Your Ingredients
List out all the ingredients and tools you used to create the spell, this includes crystals, sigils, herbs, etc...
3) Your Steps
Write in detail the steps you took to create the spell. As much as we want to rely on our memory. Our memory and we are not perfect, but paper and pen will hold true.
Example:
Step 1: Cleanse your space and tools.
Step 2: Open the circle.
5) Record Your Results!
This is the most important part! Make sure to come back to record your results to see if the spell really worked or not! Usually, I give it about 1 week to 1 month to see if the spell really worked, and if it didn't that's okay too! After all to make sure, you can find out what works or what doesn't work for you, keep a record of everything! You now have the list of everything you did, readjust and try again!
Of course, this might not work for everyone, but this is what works best for me in terms of how I create my spells and do my work. Feel free to adjust this as well and find what system works for you! Just make sure to keep record!

The Pendulum
Tumblr media
A pendulum is a weighted object at the end of a cord or chain, used for divination, dowsing, spirit work, and even finding lost objects. A pendulum can be as simple as a ring on a chain, or made from wood, metal, stone, or crystal.
There are different beliefs as to what makes the pendulum swing. Some say spirits, others believe its our subconscious, or our own heartbeats. Regardless, they have been trusted to reveal whats hidden for centuries. Along with answering 'yes and no' questions, pendulums can be incorporated in a variety of ways. Some use pendulum boards or mats, others interpret the movements with the help of their intuition. They can also be used to enhance/clarify other divination methods.
Programming A Pendulum
There are certain exercises that will ensure a new pendulum is accurate abd aligned wit your energy:
• Meditate with it and envision it answering your questions.
• Hold it about 7 inches from your palm and focus your energy into it, then ask questions to guage 'yes' and 'no'.
• "Interview" your pendulum (and continue to do this semi-regularly) to improve its accuracy and power.
• Use it to confirm your suspicions or assumptions, this will keep it sharp.
Decoding Pendulum Movements
• Clockwise: Open, flowing energy
• Counterclockwise: Blockages
• Still: Partially blocked
• Vertical: Usually a 'yes' answer, can mean conflict with thought process
• Horizontal: Usually a 'no' answer, can indicate spiritual interference/conflict
• Small clockwise movements: Positive change
• Small counterclockwise movements: Negative change

The Magician
Self confidence and mastery - the power to make things happen. Have faith in your innate creativity. This card reminds us we are masters of our own lives and have the capacity to get what we want.
The magician bring you the tools, energy and resources you need to make your dreams come true.
Everything you need right now is at your fingertips, you have the skills and abilities you need to be successful. Use your intellect, willpower to make things happen. Choices will have to be made, and these can bring great changed to come.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The magician has one hand point towards the sky and one pointing towards the ground, this symbolizes the union between the spiritual world above and the material world below. The Magician’s pose is a reminder of balance. You shouldn’t solely have your head in the clouds or your nose to the ground.
The magiciana wand is the channel of spiritual wisdom that the magician uses to manifest his desires. It is double-tipped because it is connected to both the divine and the earthly plane; another symbol of balance.
The workbench emphasises the magicians craft, it’s a place to learn. Though trial and failure the magician learns. It reminds us of the hard work that goes into creating things.
This card shows us the four tarot suits (pentacles, cups, swords, wands) representing the four elements. These are the suits of the minor arcana and they are the materials you have to work with. He has all the tools to manifest his intentions.
The magician wears a red robe representing his passion and energy. Underneath he wears a white tunic, On one hand, white is the color that contains all colors, representing completion. On the other hand, white is a blank slate, empty, representing new beginnings.
Above the magicians head is an infinity symbol and around his waist is a snake biting its own tail – both of which signal that he has access to unlimited potential, the infinite possibilities, repetition, beginning and end.
The roses and lillies that frame the card signify the garden the magician is able to create.
The magician is ruled by mercury, the planet of manifestation, communication, magic and alchemy.
