Today the Israeli army retreated from some of the areas it once controlled, but what it left behind is beyond description.

The neighborhoods it withdrew from are no longer neighborhoods. No homes, no hospitals, no shops, no streets, no trees, no water wells. Everything is flattened. Nothing remains but rubble, the smell of death, and the bodies of martyrs under the ruins.

Those who survived the bombing now face another kind of death: hunger.

Children are crying from hunger, mothers weep in helplessness, and fathers are crushed by their inability to provide even the basics.

Feeding a single family for just one day now costs over 150 dollars because of the extreme scarcity and the unbearable prices under siege.

The world is watching but doing nothing. Have we become just numbers? Is their silence a quiet approval of our suffering?

I don’t know what to say or what to write to ask for help from you. I don’t know what word will be effective so that you can help us and donate to us. Is it (the word hungry, afraid, or displaced and immigrant)? What should we say so that you can help us? We have said a lot, but no one cares about us as if Gaza no longer exists. I want to remind you that there are people in a spot in your world called Gaza where there are 2 million hungry, besieged people. Don’t forget us. We are being exterminated with all kinds of weapons from all countries (Israel, America, Britain, France, and countless countries that send weapons to Israel so that they can attack us with them. It is as if we have become a testing ground for new weapons. If there is a country that wants to test a new weapon it invented, it sends it to Israel so that it can use it on us under the pretext of fighting terrorism. What kind of terrorism is this that you killed 60,000 innocent, defenseless people with? What kind of terrorism is this? Is a child a terrorist, a woman a terrorist, an elderly man a terrorist, or are the youth who aspired to achieve their dreams terrorists? They all died.) IPC ALERT: Worst-case scenario of Famine unfolding in the Gaza Strip

The worst-case scenario of Famine is currently playing out in the Gaza Strip. Conflict and displacement have intensified, and access to food and other essential items and services has plummeted to unprecedented levels. Mounting evidence shows that widespread starvation, malnutrition, and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths. Latest data indicates that Famine thresholds have been reached for food consumption in most of the Gaza Strip and for acute malnutrition in Gaza City. Malnutrition has been rising rapidly in the first half of July. Over 20,000 children have been admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition between April and mid-July, with more than 3,000 severely malnourished. Hospitals have reported a rapid increase in hunger-related deaths of children under five years of age, with at least 16 reported deaths since 17 July. Immediate action must be taken to end the hostilities and allow for unimpeded, large-scale, life-saving humanitarian response. This is the only path to stopping further deaths and catastrophic human suffering.

IPC has issued its analysis on phase 5 famine in Gaza. You can access the pdf here. While it does not mention the role of Israel in the famine, the new Israeli defense is "it's the UN that won't distribute the food." this is a lie. israel controls every entry and exit and distribution corridor in gaza. and its time for you to put as much pressure as possible in every aspect of your life (calling, protesting, sharing, screaming) to ensure israel ends its starvation of gaza.
