Question onscreen: What was the atmosphere like on set?

Jinyoung: First of all, unlike the story, the filming site was always bright. Ji Sung-sunbaenim’s personality is…he treated me like a friend. Rather than a sunbae-nim, he treated me like a hyung. He’s much older than me (why am I thinking of Gaon calling Yohan old?) but he treated me a friend, so I felt like he was really my older brother. And I learned a lot from him, so he’s a teacher (seonsaeng-nim) to me. 

He made me think more about the character. He taught me a lot so I could focus more on the details. [In Japanese] He’s my sensei.

Question onscreen: How do you spend your time at home?

Jinyoung: First of all, I sleep a lot. And I clean a lot. I don’t have a very neat personality, so the laundry piles up like this (gestures) and the dishes like (this) and so I go (facepalms) “Ah! this is bad. I’ve to quickly (deal with this)”

Jinyoung: The Devil Judge is a dystopia that takes up events happening in Korea in the future. It’s a story of Associate Judge Kim Gaon who chases after Chief Judge Kang Yohan. It’s a drama about criminals being punished through a live court show. 

I think it’s a show you’ll watch and feel a lot from. Please give it a lot of love and attention. And thank you so much to my Japanese fans who waited for this drama and waited for me. I hope there will be another chance for me to greet you through dramas and music. Please enjoy The Devil Judge, and I’ll see you again. [in Japanese] Thank you

Jinyoung: I thought the script was really good and [switches to Japanese] Hallyu senpai-san Ji Sung-senpai was in it. That was the reason. (It’s so cute how much he looks up to Ji Sung!)

Question onscreen: What did you pay attention to (take care with) when palying Gaon?

Jinyoung: All the roles I’ve done thus far have been of characters in their 20s, whereas the character’s age in this role was close to 30. So I thought I should act in a more mature way. Because this character’s quite sensitive, even a little grumpy, and is quite forthright with his words, I was careful with how I portrayed those scenes.

Question onscreen: What kind of character is Gaon?

Jinyoung: He’s a very righteous person. Though there always a lot asked of him, he pushes forward boldly. I don’t think it’s easy to keep going the way he does. I think he’s a realistic and righteous person. His thoughts and feeling change depending on the situation, and when what he believes in is shattered, his reaction (response) is also very realistic. If being righteous was all there was to him, then he wouldn’t have been very charming, but that realism to his character was why I thought I had to take on this role.

[GO! ON-SET①] GOT7 “Living in the Ocean for a Month?” These Strange Charmers

“Even if I don’t try, they look at me with surprise, I don’t know why. My look, my style, my swagger.” (‘Girls Girls Girls’)

There are those whose confidence is cute. They are JB, Mark, Jr., Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, Yugyeom, who make up GOT7. On stage, they have enough energy to fly in addition to charisma, but their shy smiles are cute and have a charming quality that makes others want to laugh with them.

It would be a shame if this GOT7 was only able to be seen on stage. Thankfully, their reality program ‘I GOT 7’ can be viewed at 7:30pm on SBS MTV and at 12AM on SBS funE.

Through this program, viewers can see GOT7 who know how to enjoy the stage as well as what the members’ normal lives are like, who is competitive, and more covert(?) facts.

This past 16th, ‘I GOT 7’ was filmed in the afternoon at a gym in Kyunggido Yongin. On this day, 2AM’s Jokwon and miss A’s Min were special guests.

GOT7’s t-shirts were soaked with sweat due to the outside filming on such a hot day, but the members’ faces when they said “Hello!” were refreshing. These are good looking, athletic men. 

# You’ve all been through lots of difference challenges. Is there anything else you would like to try?

Jackson “There are so many things left to try because we are rookies. If opportunities come up, we want to do everything. If we all went bungee jumping I think it would be fun. (Laughs)“

Jr. “I want to climb the Himalayas and also go sky diving. Even thinking about it is exciting. (Laughs)”

Jackson “I think it would even be okay if we all held hands hands and went to live in the ocean for a month.” (Such a strange thought was nothing but cute.)

# Judging by the penalty kicks earlier, the level competitiveness you all have is no joke. Is there someone who has a higher competitiveness?

JB “All of us are very competitive"

Jr. “It’s true that we are all very competitive but from all of us the most competitive are JB and Jackson. JB is good at games and Jackson knows how to use his head.“

Jackson “It’s true! When I went to school I studied well.”

BamBam “I get punished every single time. (Sobs)” (BamBam was the one who was punished this day too. Although your heart may hurt, you will be able to see BamBam getting punished in the broadcast.)

# On a past broadcast, 2PM’s visual Nichkhun chose Youngjae as the visual of GOT7. Weren’t you all quietly hoping that he would choose you?

Mark “Ah…I thought it was going to be me! Actually no. Honestly I wasn’t hoping for anything. (Laughs)“

Jackson “Even though Mark wasn’t picked by Nichkhun hyung there are many people who think he is handsome so I think he would’ve been less disappointed.”

[GO! ON-SET②] Evident Talent - Eyecatching Visuals In Addition to Variety Show Sense, This is Now GOT7’s Era!

Even though they spent the entire afternoon filming outside, the second they have free time, the members get a ball and play amongst themselves. Where they get all this energy is a mystery. However, their energetic selves made others feel more energetic too.

Their new album can’t go unmentioned. They took a cute sound “ey~” that’s used to cutely make fun of others and made it into the title of their song, “A”, and the response is hot. The boyfriend-like image portrayed in the teaser videos gained them lots of interest and probably played with the hearts of noona fans. 

The feeling is a lot softer and cuter than their debut song ‘Girls Girls Girls’. They seem more approachable now than they did before.

# Your new song is a lot easier.

Jr. “The song is bright. With our first album we tried to show our masculine side and with this album we are trying to portray a fresher and playful image, like a cute boyfriend.“

JB “Our stages this time rely more on our acting than martial arts tricking. Even though we are still slightly awkward with our acting, we hope that many people will keep interest in us.”

# When it comes to being cute… there are no worries about Jr. or BamBam but JB, Jackson… it’s hard to imagine.

JB “It’s really hard….. (Laughs)“

Jr. “In addition to BamBam, Mark, Jackson, Yugyeom, and Youngjae all have cute parts to them.”

Jackson “I’m really cute!“

# We’re curious about your personal dating preferences.

Jackson “I’m the type to just be honest.”

JB “If I think that the other has interest in me I try to appear friendly and approachable. But if it seems like it’s not going to work out then I’m the type to just cut off all contact.“

BamBam “I’m the type to kind of go back and forth? I think playing hard to get is not a bad method. Sometimes I’m kind from far away and sometimes I’m up front about it. (Laughs)”

# It seems like there’s much to learn from filming a reality program.

Youngjae “It changed my mindset. I used to think that everything had to be entertaining but now I think that it’s better to be comfortable and honest.“

Jr. “I’m not scared anymore. I used to get scared whenever I was told that I would be participating in a show but after ‘I GOT 7’ I feel more comfortable.”

Yugyeom “I’m the opposite. In the beginning I was more comfortable. But now I feel the pressure to be entertaining.“

Jackson “I always try to work hard. I’ll work harder in the future.”

# When we’re tired we’ll watch GOT7’s stages.

BamBam “Even after performing one stage, our entire body is sweaty because there’s no rest in our choreography. We hope that viewers will be able to enjoy our stages as hard as we work for them and love them.“

I GOT7 and GOT7 : from the PD of ‘I GOT 7'

Today…so just now the filming of I GOT7’s last episode finished…..

Of course to be completely finished the footage needs to be mixed and edited but… I GOT7 has now ended…

I’ve always like to start new things and finish up things that I had already been doing but… is it because I’m getting older? It was disappointing because it was the last episode… I felt emotional while editing the footage and typing captions…

The reason I feel all this regret could be because of GOT7

Before the program I really knew GOT7 as the rookie group that sang Girlsx3

But now I know them not as idol group GOT7 but as Jaebum. Mark. Jinyoung. Jackson. Youngjae. BamBam. Yugyeom…

As I got to know them throughout the 3 months that the 10 episodes were filmed, I felt more and more that these are good kids who like people.

At first it was very awkward and very clear that they were rookies… they all seemed to discreetly hide during filming so I didn’t know what to do~~ but Youngjae was confident so he caught my eye. 

Next the one with a strong affinity for entertainment sense??? Is he a genius?? but then I realized that he tried harder than anyone and that effort paid off so Jackson also caught my eye. 

Also Yugyeom who has yet to outgrow the boyish features that signifies his youth caught my eye

At first he didn’t say a word but it turned out that he was shy… When he gets comfortable he spoke a lot and vied for screen time so Mark caught my eye.

JB who isn’t good at expressing himself but simply and honestly takes care of people and BamBam who just seemed young at first but is smart and takes care of others, these two both caught my eye.

Jinyoung was the one who I didn’t really know until the end but he likes people enough to learn the names of every single one of the staff and speaks to people sincerely, which impressed me.

It was probably from this recording that I started to gain more interest in these seven boys. 

I’m not the type to talk to celebrities on set but I felt that these were innocent boys and I started to care about them…

To be honest all rookie idol groups are good and work hard in front of PDs. GOT7 were good and worked hard in a slightly different way.

They didn’t just try to appear like they were good people they seemed to actually be good people who worked hard…

I feel that as time passes the position of a person may change but the sincerity with which a person treats others does not change…

I feel that I have become a fan of idol group GOT7’s boys Jaebum. Mark. Jinyoung. Jackson. Youngjae. BamBam. Yugyeom.

So I hope these kids make it big…

I’ve been a Shinhwa fan for 16 years. I’m not as a fervent fan as back then or devote time of day to them but they’re a part of my life. 

I’m too busy to open CDs and always just download the MP3 to listen but I still always buy the album.

I hope that GOT7’s baby birds (t/n: GOT7 shorted ‘I GOT7’ in Korean and Mark was the first to (mis)write it as ‘아가새’ which means ‘baby bird’) will be able to spend as long time with GOT7. 

Just the type that always waits and sometimes even say bitter words…

Fans that stay not because of the initial excitement but because of their surety…

As the time spent together increases, and you all age together, you will have a much different and more impressive relationship created through shared memories

So I hope that there will be fans to walk with GOT7 for that long period of time..

I won’t be able to walk all that way but I will watch from afar and smile……

GOT7 for Singles August 2014: Interview

If the debut song ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ was more for performance with the eye-catching martial arts tricking, the recent song 'A’ was more cute and lively. In a way it was more appealing to the viewers. Jr. In the debut song we were supposed to look cool, but this time we were more focused on facial expressions. Jaebum hyung and I acted in the past, but we did not teach or help the members with the facial expressions. That’s because everybody has so much potential by themselves.Youngjae in particular changed and upgraded the most. Youngjae I felt that my facial expressions were awkward so I wasn’t lazy with monitoring myself. I also worked hard to lose weight. Rather than keeping track of the amount of weight I lost, I continued to lose weight until my face had a v-line. I always ate breakfast, and ate lunch and dinner until I thought to myself ‘If I eat more I’ll probably gain weight’. 

The lyrics of both songs are about how the guy is over confident in front of the girl. Are you guys like this in real life? Yugyeom I get embarrassed easily. There has almost never been a case where the someone expressed her feelings toward me. Although there have been times when I liked someone… BamBam I’ve never really felt that a girl liked me. Jackson The lyrics and performance are all just acting. At an event like a fansign that involves a lot of skinship, what was the most shocking experience? Mark A fan asked me to kiss her on the cheek but I didn’t do it. (laughs) Yugyeom A fan asked me to pat her head. JB There are a lot of shocking experiences. Because patting a fan’s head makes it seem like I am the higher-up person, I feel that the action is impolite. Jr I think girls feel that they’re being protected when we pat them on the head. Back when I promoted as JJ Project, we had a small fanmeeting in Vietnam and a fan suddenly kissed me and left. I was so surprised I said, “thank you~” but my emotions were complicated and I felt fidgety. Ha……. Did anything ever happen to Mark, Jackson, or BamBam because your Korean isn’t fluent? BamBam There are a lot of words I get confused with. I was supposed to say, ‘Let’s go to Paju’ but I said “Do you want to go to Green Onion Pancake (Pajun)?’ and I said 'Cheongchung’ instead of ‘Chungcheong’. Jackson When I was a trainee, I met JYP PD and said, 'Hey~ what’s up~ I’m your trainee’ but he didn’t know what to say so he looked confused and said, ‘Congratulations’ and left. (laughs)  Yugyeom I feel like Mark hyung is the first trainee who was that comfortable with JYP. These days when they meet he says 'Oh~hyung!’ Before and after debut, how did the advice that JYP gives you change? Jr The emphasis on 'Half air half sound’ is still the same. But now, when we sing, he says we should imagine that the girl we like is in front of us. A singer on stage is also an actor.

It seems like he would be the most harsh on the lead vocal. Youngjae You’re right. When I sing I have a habit of lifting my eyebrows and opening my mouth wide. But the PD says that lifting my eyebrows isn’t a good habit, and said that if I did it again he would tape my eyebrows in place. (laughs)

97 line Yugyeom and BamBam are the youngest in the team but your characters seem quite different Jackson Yugyeom may look masculine but in reality he’s vulnerable and innocent. BamBam acts cute but his personality is masculine. Jr. During our promotions, Yugyeom grew 2-3 more cm. Sometimes when he comes next to me for a picture I get flustered. There’s such a difference in our heights. Jackson Right now BamBam is still the shortest member. In about a year, I’ll probably be the shortest member. Jr. Jackson has a height complex.

But doesn’t Jackson has the nicest body from exercising? JB In the past Jackson asked a staff noona who had the nicest body in the group, and when that noona said 'Jaebum’ he started sulking. Jr. I can’t remember when it started but whenever anything is said about bodies, Jackson says 'Yeah, Jaebum has a nice body’ and sulks. Jackson No but, I said I wanted to be in <Men’s Health> and that noona said, 'You? Even when you just look at GOT7 Jaebum has the best body’. So my feelings were hurt! JB Whenever I come out of the shower wearing underwear Jackson always steals glances. (laughs) Jackson Jaebum has wide shoulders and doesn’t have much fat. I have a thicker body with bigger muscles. But now I just accept it. I accept Im Jaebum! (laughs) Jr. We can talk for at least an hour on this topic. Jackson But I still have a better lower body.

JB and Jr. debuted first as ‘JJ Project’ and then became part of GOT7 and debuted again. It seems like the two of you would’ve been more impatient or felt more burdened. JB We were preparing for JJ Project’s second album when we switched and started preparing for GOT7. Before the album dropped, we were worried that if we made a mistake this time the same thing would happen again. Jr. It’s been 4 years since Jaebum hyung and I debuted. But I feel that we haven’t done much yet so it kinda hurts. After we finished promotions for GOT7’s first album it was our 2 year anniversary. I felt like crying for no reason. Anyway, because we have debuted in GOT7, we resolved firmly that we would succeed. Jackson JJ Project doesn’t have to be just two people. Jackson is a 'J’ too so it could be Triple-J. Youngjae is a 'J’ so he could join us. (laughs)

If a duet unit group like JJ Project was decided who would you want to be with in the team? BamBam Watch what you say. JB Hm… Jackson? Jackson Is it because we’re the two with nice bodies so we could rip our clothes? Yugyeom Oh! Then because Jackson has a strong lower body he could rip his pants! (laughs)

There’s character education and sex education given by your company, what’s it about? JB For sex education… saying this is embarrassing (laughs). We’re taught correct information, and character education is for mental care. The stress that we bottle up is resolved through individual interviews. When we were trainees we would go once a week but these days we haven’t been able to. Jr. I think sex education and character education is something that all artists should go through before debut as a person.

Every time you do an interview you say 'We want to become artists over idols’. What do you think the difference between the two is? Jr. We’re not speaking lightly of idols. We just think that artists, whether they’re idols or not, have their own color of music.

Is it clear what type of music each member wants to pursue? Mark I like slow hip-hop. Jr. I’ve liked to choreograph since I was young. I think it would be fun to be a producer who works on stage. In another direction, I would also like to pursue theater. Jackson I want to pursue hip-hop and R&B. Youngae I want to compose and produce R&B ballads. I like music that calls for vocal talent. JB I like the R&B Soul genre. I want to pursue many different genres of music like indie or James Morrison. If I’m given the chance, I want to write scrips for movies. BamBam I like hip-hop. Also I like to design things like houses and clothes. Yugyeom I like hip-hop and R&B, and I also want to be good at it.

You picked 2PM and Shinhwa as role models. Jr. Recently there were also G.O.D. sunbaes but Shinhwa sunbaes are the longest running group with out losing members. We want to focus on our personal activities and promotions, and live our own lives but we also want to become an idol group that can come together at any time to work on music again.

Do you spend leisure time with each other? Jr. We mostly sleep. We also play games on PlayStation, or produce music in our rooms. We watch movies together too. We all watched <Miracle in Cell No.7> and cried a ton. Mark If our schedule works out we also want to go see <Transformers>!

Even though the average training time is 3-4 years, Youngjae debuted 7 months after he joined the company. What did you do to become close to the other members quickly? Youngjae I didn’t do anything. All of them have playful personalities. Jr. We’re really easygoing kids. So it’s easy to become close to us. (laughs) ♥

[KUKI INTERVIEW] GOT7 “We Would Like To See Our Fans Again This Year!"

Q. Is there more effort put into a cute concept? JB: Yes. It was really hard so we tried harder. But it was a relief that the reactions were positive. We were so glad that the fans liked a cuter and brighter concept and song. Even though there wasn’t a visibly improved result.

Q. Are you referring to winning #1 on a music show when you say ‘result’? JB: No. Honestly we weren’t even thinking about winning #1. Jackson: It was amazing that we got to top 10. JB: We wanted to show a new image after our debut song 'Girls Girls Girls’. Of course we were thankful for being in the top 10 but we don’t think it’s something we can boast about. But still, it was a fun and new experience.

Q. During the promotions of 'A’ ther were so many people applying to attend your fansign events. Doesn’t that mean that 'A’ is a better concept than 'Girls Girls Girls’. JB: I’m not sure how many of our fans apply to attend our fans. But we can still feel that more people are sending us love during these promotions. Still, the 'A’ concept isn’t GOT7’s main concept. Jackson: We consider our main concept to be hip hop focused like 'Girls Girls Girls’.

Q. Will we be able to see you in Korean promotions again within the year? Jr.: Honestly we want to promote again this year. We might not be able to depending on our company but if there’s a good opportunity we might be able to come back by the end of the month. JB: End of the month? It’s the end of July right now. (Laughs) Jr.: Oh. I really… want to have a come back this year. (Laughs)

Q. A Japanese debut is planned. For a rookie, this is ver y fast. It seems like you would be looking forward to it as well as worried about it. JB: I think it would be a good idea to first make our mark in Korea first. However we know that this is an opportunity not commonly given to rookies, so we’d like to make the best of it. Jr.: Our Korean fans regret this decision. But we’d like for them to think that we’re gaining more experience to create a better stage in Korea. Don’t be too sad.

Q. What about the upcoming JYP Nation Concert? Jr. Please come. We can show you everything. JB: There will be GOT7 stages as well as collaboration stages!

Q. Is there an artist that you’d personally like to collaborate with? Jackson: With GOT7…

Q. That’s just a GOT7 stage… Jr.: I want to collaborate with JYP PD! Park Jinyoung and Park Jinyoung. How is it? We’ve done it before in Japan but we’ve never shown it in Korea. Jackson: Then I want to collaborate with 2PM’s Chansung. BamBam: I want to collaborate with 2PM’s Nichkhun! The Thai members’ stage! Youngjae: I want to collaborate with 2PM’s Jun.K…

Q. Why do you love 2PM so much? Jackson: Ah, I want to perform with 2AM’s Jokwon. Rap collaboration! I want to stand on a stage and showcase the charms of rap. JB: To spoil slightly, we’re planning on performing with the singer Bernard Park. It’s going to be an amazing stage so please look forward to it!

GOT7 for NYLON December 2014: Interview

It’s not long before another year passes. What does it mean to become an adult? JB It means that there are less people to lean on. When you’re young there are a lot of people who help you out but as you become an adult you need to learn to take care of yourself. Isn’t taking responsibility what it means to become an adult? Jr. I think there’s a sense of freedom that comes with being allowed to do more things. Some people aren’t so hard on you when you’re a student but it scares me that as an adult I won’t have that identity. I just hope that I won’t become an adult who grows older and bigger. What does acting like an adult mean? JB Understanding and supporting others. It’s something I don’t yet have. Yugyeom Acting like an adult is the ability to put yourself in another’s shoes when thinking and being a good listener. Jackson I think that acting like an adult is to take responsible for your own choices. Jr. Being able to control yourself. When you see adults, they sometimes say, ‘It’s sad enough growing old…’. It’s possible for adults to think immaturely and act irrationally. However, doing so is childlike, and I think being able to hold that in is how an adult should act. But no matter what anyone says, something that is purely adult is wrinkles! Haha. Youngjae Isn’t becoming like my understanding and serious father part of being an adult? What will change once you’re adults? Jackson I have them now but I guess my wrinkles will become deeper. I also think that I’ll become more polite and understand my shortcomings and weaknesses. Youngjae I won’t change too much physically but my emotional depth will increase. Mark It might be because I’m from the States, but I don’t feel too much of a difference. There hasn’t been much that’s changed since I’ve become an adult. It’s just that my surroundings have changed. Here, the fact that I do everything myself is kind of hard. I have to be responsible in feeding myself and cleaning up after myself. The biggest difference is my day to day responsibilities. BamBam I’m still young so there’s more that I don’t know how or can’t do, but I think I can understand the wall the adults are pushing against. 'Right now is freedom,’ they might say. Is there some glamorous vision of adulthood you have? JB When I think of adults, I think of driving with one hand… In dramas, the handsome lead puts on his sunglasses and drives around with one hand. I think that looks cool. Jackson I think that my glamorous vision will be shattered as I become more an adult. When you’re young, it’s okay to make mistakes, but that’s not how it works when you’re an adult. If you make a big mistake, you can even go to jail. Is there a figure that you’ve admired for a long time? Jackson I admire and respect my father for his endurance and refusal to give up. I want to become a person like my father. Yugyeom I admire Chris Brown, who helped me realize my dream as an artist. Seeing him at the 2012 Grammy Awards changed me. Jr. JYP. It’s cool enough that we have the same name, but I was born in 1994, which is the year that he debuted. There are similarities. BamBam It seems that Jr. has achieved his dream. I’ve liked Rain since I was young. I would watch dramas and music broadcasts that he was on with my mother and naturally grew to like him. It makes it more special that I was able to start the path of an artist by covering Rain’s songs. JB The celebrity I most wanted to meet after debuting was also Rain. There was one time that our promotions overlapped, and when I met him I realized that he was more built than I thought. It was to the point that all of the members acknowledged that he was built. We were formally dressed so I asked for a handshake, but he greeted us with a 'Yo!’, which made it memorable. Youngjae Yoo Jaesuk. He’s similar to my father. His big, red, nose is eyecatching. Haha. He looks like someone who has a comfortable and warm personality. In the past, I made sure to watch every episode of Infinity Challenge. Even today, watching Infinity Challenge is the best way to pass time. Mark Honestly, I didn’t have a clear goal for myself so I never had a figure I admired. It’s more important to me to enjoy every day and work hard. Jackson To live every day to the fullest like it’s your last. Now that I think about it, Mark’s answer is very cool! It’s kind of awkward that we’re all talking about such a serious topic. We’re usually not the serious type. Haha. It’s interesting that this is strange for you. Jackson Until now, we’ve never asked each other what we like and what hobbies we have. In our dorm, we joke around or sleep because we’re tired from our schedule. The thing we say the most at our dorm is 'You’re not sleeping?’. Haha. Don’t you want to talk something that you’ve newly discovered? Also, don’t members with the same interests able to connect? BamBam We don’t really talk about the past but we do talk about movies we’ve recently watched. Jr. Gone Girl was impressive. It’s the best movie of all the ones I’ve recently seen! It was impossible to not fall into the twists and turns in the story, and the actors were are so good. Yugyeom At our dorm, I watched My Love, My Bride with BamBam and Jackson. I have a picture of what marriage is like in my head, but as I watched the movie, I asked myself, 'Will I change like the main charactor?’. The happy ending was enjoyable. BamBam We spent the entire time yelling. Because we liked it so much and because we were moved. JB I like movies that bring up old memories. Recently I watched the 12th Crayon Shin-Chan movie. For some reason I was really excited. I’ve probably watched it over 5 times. Youngjae Like JB, I really like animation. I’ve watched all of the anime One Piece. It was enjoyable to see the main character, Luffy, in his journey to become a pirate. Mark I’m not really into movies. If I have free time I prefer to rest. Haha. What is the worst thing that’s ever happened to you? JB It’s not the worst thing that’s ever happened… Once I was a guest on a program. I was supposed to look good so that main would look good, but I wasn’t good enough. I messed up my lines too… Either way I didn’t play out my role. The director yelled, 'Aren’t you going to focus?’. Even when I think about it now it’s terrible. Jr. We were planning to shoot our mini album music video in Thailand, but there was a coup d'état so we weren’t even allowed to enter the country. We quickly changed plans and decided to shoot in Malaysia, but our costumes weren’t ready. We didn’t have a costume fitting until the night before we left, and the first night in Malaysia was a nightmare. Looking back, it was nothing, but during it, we were worried that everything was going to fall apart. Youngjae Once on a broadcast of After School Club, I mispronounced live’ and everyone laughed at me. Since then, I’ve been studying English harder. I didn’t even know but I guess I’m someone who gets competetive. Jackson Rather than situations that could be described as the worst ever, I’ve been through periods of hardship. Until Recently, I was a fixed guest on MBC Quiz to Change the World for 3 months. Every day, we spent 8-10 hours recording, and even though I was tired, I still gave my best reactions. I laughed and clapped like a intense fan, but I wasn’t as eyecatching as I thought I’d be. From now on I’m going to give stronger reactions! Is there an aspect of you that has been over or underestimated? Yugyeom While we were filming Real GOT7 I was the victim of a hidden camera. The mission was 'Make Yugyeom Cry!’, so all of the members made me cry. I cried once, and people thing I’m a crier. Whenever I meet anyone, they say 'I hear you cry easily.’ Jackson People remember me as playful, but I’m actually a very serious person. I just wanted to let all or you know. JB I’ve never really thought about what other people thing of me, so I don’t really know how to answer. Jackson JB is exactly how he looks, a bad boy! A chic man! JB I’m actually not chic… I look cold so that must be where the chic image came from. Yugyeom JB is actually more talk than action. There are so many cute aspects about him. Such as? Yugyeom JB tells us, 'Let’s really get the choreography right. Don’t you dare mess up,’ and then ends up being the only one to make a mistake. He’s older than me but it’s still cute. Jr. JB is funnier when we’re promoting. He says, 'I know our schedule is busy but let’s not fall asleep during them,’ and then falls asleep on the floor. JB I definitely did not fall asleep! Jackson There was another time that was really cute. A couple days ago I ordered chicken wings, but JB ate all of them without me catching him. I don’t have any evidence but I know it was him. JB I really didn’t eat them! Jackson It’s cute that he tries to deny it until the very end, haha. Did you ever feel like you’ve become a completely different person? BamBam When I put on make up. When I take it off, I’m surprised because, 'Is this really what I look like?’ JB When I go onstage, I feel that I become a completely different person. Yugyeom When I dance. In the past, I was really shy, but now I’m more comfortable. Jackson I’m always me. If there was ever a time I was different, it would be when I’m in front of JYP. I used to be really scared of him. His aura overwhelmed me, and I couldn’t talk properly. When I was a trainee, it was because I was afraid that I’d be cut. Now, we’re close enough for me to call him 'hyung’. I feel kind of bad. Jackson It’s okay, that’s how life works. Jr. It’s cool to see a Hong Kong person say it like that. Jackson There’s a phrase like that that we say in Hong Kong too! Is there a side of you that people might not know about? Jr. I act differently in front of my friends than I act in front of adults. With my friends I joke around, but in front of adults I turn serious. It’s important to have respect for your elders. I guess that’s no fun, haha. Mark Hm. Compared to my personality in the past, I think changed a lot. I used to argue with my friends if we disagreed about something, but now we talk it out, even about difficult subjects. Every once in a while, my friends ask me, 'Why aren’t you getting mad? You’ve changed!’ It’s weird but I wasn’t completely aware of the change. Rather than you changing, have people started treating you differently? Jackson I think that’s a part of it. I don’t feel that the members have changed a lot since debuting. There’s only one thing that’s changed, we perform onstage. What’s the most important thing the members have promised each other? Yugyeom Rather than a promise, but we’ve talked about going as 'GOT7’ until the end. Even if we have solo or unit activities, to never forget each other. BamBam Hm. We’ve made small promises. Like if you eat in the living room you have to clean up after yourself! But no one cleans up. JB No flushing toilet paper down the toilet… Jackson Did we really agree on that? That’s the first time I’ve hearing it. JB Even if your own room is messy, keep the bathroom and kitchen clean. Jr. JB is a stickler for these things, haha. It feels like it’s been 5 years since debut. You’ve finally released a studio album.Yugyeom I hope it does well. The artists under the same label as us all really liked our album. Jackson We didn’t want to feel like we were short on time when creating a studio album. Hopefully everyone is looking forward to it. Which song on the album is your favorite? JB The title song, 'Stop Stop It’. BamBam I also really like our title song. Also, my hair came out great, hahaha. At first, I thought we all looked like we were advertising for loans, but I like the image now. Mark I like R&B and hip-hop, as well as low-tone songs, so 'Moonlight’ is my favorite. Jr. 'Take My Hand’. I’ve never been complimented for my singing, but I was complimented for the first time for this song. I played it cool but I was really excited on the inside. Jackson Hm, I like 'Just Tonight’ and 'Moonlight’ the best. Partly because I helped writing the rap parts to the songs. How do you want people to listen to this album? Jackson How do I want people to listen to it? Am I supposed to say with their ears? Yugyeom Haha, well it is impossible to listen with your lips. BamBam I think that there are some good songs for a guy who is confessing to a girl to serenade her with. The lyrics are a bit cheesy but they’re romantic. JB If a guy thinks to himself, 'I’m being friendzoned by a girl,’ he should listen to our songs. There’s a lot of stuff he could connect with. Mark Right. That is, after all, our concept for this album. Jr. People who like older-style songs should listen to our album. Most of the songs have the old school feel, so it’ll be fun to listen to them.

GOT7 for Tenasia 10+Star August 2014: Interview

It’s a minor thing but the first question is something I’ve been curious about. When you introduce the team, you say “Come and get it, GOT7”. How was this decided? Yugyeom We wondered together, ‘What should we do? What do we do?’ before coming up with it. Jr. There were a lot of ideas and this one just happened to be the one we chose. Youngjae What was it at the very beginning? BamBam 'Get ready, GOT7’. But then it was similar to YG WIN Team B’s so we changed ours. Yugyeom We were asking the foreigner hyungs (Mark, Jackson) what stuff meant and they happened to say 'Come and get it’.  Jr. It was kind of like, I don’t know, let’s just use this one. (Laughs)

What charms do you want people to come and get from GOT7? Youngjae The seven of us each have our own personal charms… Jr. (Looking at Youngjae) And what is your charm? Youngjae My charm is… my awkwardness? (Laughs)

During the promotions for 'A’, what is something you have repeated heard? It seems like you would’ve heard that you’ve gained a lot of popularity. Jr. People have said that we’ve gained popularity, and also have asked us about our new song. This time, we came back with a youthful song which is different from our first album. We first came out as a hip hop group, but because we came out with a different color of hip hop, people asked us lots of questions about that.

Then was there anything that you heard that you liked or made you proud? Yugyeom You’ve gotten more talented, your performance skills have improved, things like that. Youngjae You’ve lost weight, your expression is less awkward. Haha. (Q: You’ve really lost weight. Are you still not eating dinner these days?) I’m always conscious about my weight so I haven’t been eating dinner. Jr. What about you BamBam? BamBam You’ve gotten manlier? Youngjae You’ve gotten taller? BamBam I don’t know about height… Jr. Yugyeom is the tallest in our team but he’s still growing. Sometimes I get mad. (Laughs) All (Laughs) Yugyeom I grew from 179cm to 182cm. Youngjae I grew too! From 175cm to 177cm! Heheh

While the younger members were speaking the smile on Jr’s face has been disappearing. Jr. (Playfully) I won’t say why. Yugyeom Jinyoung hyung has a good body ratio so it’s okay. Jr. We’ll work hard! This has been GOT7! (Laughs)

We haven’t been talking for very long but it seems that the members aren’t much different than they are in broadcasts. Right now you are all starring in SBS MTV 'I GOT7’, are your real personalities 100% in sync with your personalities on the show? Jr. It’s the same. Although it’s a bit embarrassing to say it myself, (Laughs) our team’s biggest charm is our honesty. There may be people who feel from time to time that we don’t have manners, but that’s not what we’re aiming for. We want to show the real us without any filters, so we’d like people to not view us badly.

Because it feels like a good time to bring it up, the 'A’ teasers… Youngjae Oh my god. BamBam Please don’t watch stuff like that… (Laughs)

Each member had their own teaser. Because the videos were with a virtual girlfriend, the members say that they’re 'crigeworthy’. Still, is there another member’s version that you thought was better than your own? Yugyeom All the members probably thought that their own was better than JB hyung’s. Jr. I think mine was better than Mark’s. Jackson That version was the simplest. Jr. But Mark hyung’s “A, let’s go” was still cool. The worst part of Mark hyung’s version was JB. Mark (Laughs)

Mark’s and Jackson’s seemed like the least cringeworthy. Jackson Me? Thank you. Youngjae BamBam’s wasn’t bad either. BamBam Mine? But I didn’t even finish tying the shoelaces but the actress just left. (All (Laughs)) To be honest no one does that. If your shoelaces come untied I’d probably say “Tie them yourself”. But it was still fun. Even though filming took a while.

Were you allowed to each pick your own concept? Youngjae: No, no, no. BamBam If we could pick we definitely would not have picked something like that. (Laughs) Jr. I think we were each given something that would suit us the best. So we could act convincingly like boyfriends.

Like it was evident from the teasers that GOT7 would be coming back with different colors, 'A’ and 'Girls Girls Girls’ have different atmospheres. What did you first thing when you heard the song? Jr. The song was really good from the beginning. The current version has been rearranged a lot. The original version was pop. (Mark: American! American style!) In addition, the song was very bright but JYP PD’s thick voice was recorded on it so we didn’t know how we were going to save the song. I personally thing that we were brighter and cuter so the song was saved. (Mark: (Laughs)) Our PD was sticky but we were cute! Sorry, PD-nim, (Laughs).

What you just compared, it’s going to be published just like that! Mark Ahah what do we do. (Laughs)

'A’ doesn’t showcase as much martial arts tricking as the debut song did. It must have been physically easier. Jr. In this album we focused more on our acting on stage. In 'A’ we have to make cute expressions… Like the 'So cute’ part. There wasn’t a lot of martial arts tricking, but we still worked hard on our expressions. Mark I wanted to rest a little this time (Laughs)

Jackson and Mark must have been tired from all of the difficult moves. Mark That’s why we tried not to put any in the choreography at all. But my part was very short so the company told me to 'spin once’ so I would show up on camera. (Laughs) Jr. The song is good to listen to, but performance wise there wasn’t much to look at (Mark Yes!) so we put it in to offer more to look at. (Looks at Mark) In our 3rd album they’ll be more 'flying’. Mark That’s right. Jackson In our 3rd album only Mark will be 'flying’. I’ll rest a bit.

Just recently the 'A’ stage changed so that it starts at a table. Is there a reason for this? Yugyeom Our PD told us “In our company, artists change something in the choreography every two weeks”. Jr. Let’s say that we perform a song for a month. Rather than performing the same thing over and over again, our PD must have thought that changing the choreography would hold the interest of the viewers. I heard that our new choreography was positively received.

You’re right. The table scene from the music video was eye catching so personally I liked it more. BamBam It’s less tiring so I like it. Jr. If the new choreography had been for our first album it would’ve been hard but we kept working together and that improved our communication with each other. Mark And we had already done it once in the music video.

Because the music video came up, Youngjae especially looked good in it. Partly because he had more parts and was in the center, but mostly because he’s gotten more talented. BamBam If you watch the music video Youngjae hyung is the only one in it. (Opens eyes wide) With his eyes like this! Youngjae No~ It’s not true~~ BamBam (Making fun of him) It’s not even our song. It’s Youngjae hyung’s song. (Laughs) Youngjae Don’t say that~ don’t say that~ don’t say it like that~~~ (Mark laughing in the background)

Right around the time of debut when your dorm was revealed through a live broadcast, Youngjae said at the end “Right now people call me the 'rookie-like Youngjae’ but I’ll show a cooler appearance in the next album”. It seems like you did what you said you would. Youngae Haha, I remember that. I was so nervous because it was a live broadcast. I worked hard up until now. But I think I’m going to have to work harder. After the first broadcast of 'A’ I read the reactions and people said I looked too awkward and I opened my eyes too wide. (Laughs) So I changed little details and after the next broadcast, people said 'Oh, he looks less awkward today’ and I was glad. Also I thought to myself how I should make hearts more creatively, in different directions.

You’re even concentrating on which directions to make hearts! Then is there a part that another member has that he definitely doesn’t want the audience to miss? Jr. For me, because it’s not a solo stage, I want people to look at us as a whole. (BamBam: He’s right.) Although it’s important to look at each person for his charm, I think it’s more important that it’s a seven person stage. Of course during a solo stage it’s good to focus on one person but right now I’d like everyone to look at how we interact on stage.

Now that we’ve been talking for a while, Jr. is good at calmly speaking. He seems like the spokesperson of the team. Jr. There are some days that the words come naturally to me, today seems like one of those days. (Laughs)

In the album, Jackson wrote the rap for 'U Got Me’ and JB wrote the lyrics to 'Bad Things’. Are there more members who are interested in helping create the album? Jackson All (the members) have interest. We’re all working on it. Youngjae I have a song that I’m almost done with. It’s kind of an R&B ballad, the subject is, what should I say, 'the woman that comes to mind on a rainy day’? (Jackson: Ahhhh!) The title is… No I can’t say it (Laughs) I’ve walked around often on rainy days, so I thought about the sound of rain on those days while writing the song. (Q: It wasn’t written for a specific person?) My imagination is the best, haha. Music is very inspiring for me. Not necessarily that content of the song, but the background sound. BamBam (Youngjae hyung) always writes songs on rainy days. Youngjae I really like rainy days. Oh, there’s something else, I made a track that I haven’t yet written the melody to. I was never taught how to compose, but I get help from composer hyungs along the way. In the future I really want to produce an album.

What about the other members? Yugyeom Jackson hyung’s songs are complete hip hop. Jackson GOT7 is JYP’s hip hop group so I’m composing hip hop tracks. Yugyeom (Youngjae hyung, Jackson hyung) Both are very good. Their styles are different. Jackson My style is 'the man who comes to mind on a snowy day’. All (Laughs) Youngjae The man! Jackson Playing is playing. Hip hop is hip hop! These days when I compose, the rappers Mark, BamBam, and I do it together. Mark I’m trying, but I’m not very good. BamBam We’re trying hard to compose, but we’ve gotten busier so we stopped for a while. Even though we don’t get it to do it often, Jackson hyung makes the beat and the two of us write lyrics. It’s hard, Korean lyrics.

How about writing them in English first? Youngjae I’ll translate them for you! Jackson If we write them in English, Jr. or JB changes it to Korean. BamBam Then… I’ll write it in Thai! All (Laughs)

JB said 'For GOT7 to win a rookie award this year, we’ll have to release another album’. What’ something you want to accomplish with the next album? Jr. We’d like to release another album this year, but because the company has policies, we don’t know how it’s going to work out. For now, we’d like to release another one. Jackson Hip hop, hip hop, strong hip hop! Mark Something cool! Jr. We each have our own musical tastes.

What are your personal musical styles? Jackson I’m always hip hop. All hip hop. BamBam I think new school hip hop is good. There’s also pop hip hop. I like that. (Jackson: Not something cute. The cute should stop here. Haha.) There should be something cute only for a couple places, hehe. Yugyeom I like hip hop and R&B. Youngjae I like R&B ballads. I like sad songs. The overall atmosphere is hip hop but if we wrote our own songs… This is what I want but I’d like each of the members to write a song in their own style and include it in an album. Jr. There’s a lot of things that come to mind. In terms of a singer, Paul Williams. I like it if it’s not too bright, but simple, a beat with not a lot of sauce that has our voices honestly recorded on it. I’d like for us to practice a little more and come out with a song that has our voices on it under a simplistic beat, a song that has feeling. Or something like Justin Timberlake’s 2006 album, 'FutureSex/LoveSounds’ that is still good after a couple years. It’s been 8 years since that album was released but I still like that album more than anything in the world. (Q: Do you still listen to it these days?) I like that artist the best so I always listen to it. I think it would be nice to plan and produce an album like that. Mark I like hip hop, but hip hop that’s slightly R&B, slower, with feeling. I like Drake. JB I like PBR&B, R&B with a little bit of an electronic sound. I’d like to make a song like that our title song. If that was our title song the other songs could be medium tempo R&B or folk. I also like R&B Soul and artists like James Morrison and Damien Rice so I’d like to make songs similar to theirs.

Even though your musical tastes differ, there still seems to be a connection between the members. It may be helped by the fact that the members all share a dorm and gain strength from each other. Either way, on TV it was shown that Yugyeom and BamBam’s room is bigger than the others. BamBam We picked our room last. After everyone chose, only the big room was left. It was nice. There are beds only in our room! Jr. The youngest need to sleep comfortably. The hyungs can sleep even if it’s uncomfortable. Jackson (Looking at Jr.) You’re the most comfortable! Jr. That’s not true. When I’m trying to sleep (Yugyeom and BamBam) always go back and forth through my room to use the bathroom so I can’t sleep. (Q: Ah, so inside Yugyeom and BamBam’s room there’s Jr’s room! Is the bathroom in that direction?) The bathroom in my room has a big bathtub. BamBam Hyung… we definitely told you. If you used the room by yourself then we would use that bathroom and go through your room a lot. And you said it was okay… Jr. They look really sorry when they come in. “Hyung… can I use the bathroom?” BamBam Once I went in very quietly. But then suddenly hyung grabbed my leg. Hahaha. I was really surprised.

Hahaha, so it wasn’t so the youngest could be comfortable that they were given the big room? Jr. We talked amongst ourselves and decided to give the youngest two the big room. Jackson, BamBam N~~o~ Jr, Youngjae We really thought of it that way! Mark (Playful baby voice) If the youngest two have the comfortable room and we’re comfortable in the car… hahaha. Jr. We wanted to give something to the youngest two! Mark No that’s not it hahaha. JB Truthfully the hyungs can’t beat the younger members. They’re too strong. (Laughs)

Mark and Jackson, Jaebum and Youngjae, Yugyeom and BamBam share a room and Jr. rooms by himself. How were the roommates decided? All We just chose who we wanted to room with. Jr. Oh, there was this. At first the members said that they wanted to room with me, but then when we got to our dorm the members that said they wanted to room with me asked other members to room together. Originally Jackson and I were supposed to room together but when we got to the dorm we forgot. Jackson Jr. and I were going to room together, but then something happened and I asked JB if he wanted to room with me. But then we got to the dorm and I ended up rooming with Mark. All (Laughs) Jr. We don’t have any rules, it’s all in the moment! (Laughs)

Are you satisfied with your current roommate? All Yes! JB But Youngjae’s and my room doesn’t have air conditioner. Jr. I don’t have air conditioning either… JB But if you open the door to Jr’s room then the the air conditioning from the maknae room comes in. Our room doesn’t have any. Even if we turn it on in the living room, it doesn’t reach our room. (Youngjae: It’s too far.) So these days we don’t room together. Youngae We look for cooler places… Yugyeom He’s like a lost lamb! (Laughs) Yesterday Jaebum hyung slept in the living room and Youngjae hyung slept in our manager hyung’s room. Youngjae Every once in a while I sleep with Jaebum hyung. Yugyeom When he’s lonely. All (Laughs) JB The two of us share a mat but it’s not too crowded. If the air conditioner just worked our room would be cooler but it doesn’t… We need to put a vent in the wall but there are structural limits so we can’t. So the two of us are living separately right now. But in the winter our room is the warmest. You don’t even need blankets at night.

So that’s Youngjae and JB’s room. (Laughs) It seems like Mark is someone who is actually playful. He doesn’t talk much, but when he does it’s extraordinary. On yesterday’s 'I GOT7’ broadcast his yells of “It’s mine!” while catching fish left a lasting impression. Jr. He’s very possessive. (Laughs) Mark Hm… (Smiles)

Is Mark the only one who hasn’t received a punishment? All He’s been punished! Jr. He got it on the last episode of 'I GOT7’. We all did everything so Mark would get punished… Hahaha BamBam Are you tired of me being punished with the laundry clips? I get punished again on the next episode… ehehe.

Does the laundry clip punishment really hurt as much as it looks? Mark It hurt less than I thought it would! BamBam Hyung, the clips weren’t where it really hurts. Mark They were on my lips. Jackson We were scared that hyung would get angry so we were careful. Youngjae For it to really hurt they need to all be on the lips. JB Now that I think about it I’ve never gotten the laundry clip punishment. Youngjae (Mimes pulling the elastic on the hat) You got this. Mark 2nd episode, 2nd episode! JB So I only got that, I didn’t get the laundry clips. But I didn’t even realize that until now. The elastic hat hurt so much… Wow… All Hahahahaha Jr. When we do the laundry clip punishment, no one has any compassion for the one who’s being punished. Yugyeom (Gestures toward Mark) He’s quiet until there’s a punishment, then he’s the most excited. Because he’s so playful. (Laughs)

Has there been a time where you were mad at each other because of the punishment? Jackson (Glares pointedly at Mark) Of course not. Mark (Laughs)

Oh and another question for Mark! Have you seen the Mark version fancam of 'I Like You’ from the first showcase? The triple combo of shoulder shaking, finger heart, and smile was great. Mark I did see it. The original choreography is (Points forward with finger), but there were fans so I suddenly decided to make a heart. Jr. It’s the feel!

Are you usually like that? Talented on stage, I mean. Mark I try to sprinkle talent… (JB That’s something you share.) showcase talent. Ehehe.

If Mark is a surprising gag, anyone can tell that Jackson is playful. It’s so much that there are compilations of his comical appearances in broadcasts, where is he getting all of this entertainment skills? Jr. Jackson is just funny. So very funny. Jackson I don’t try to maintain my image during broadcasts. I’m trying to that a little these days, but we have a cute concept so I just act naturally… Yugyeom He’s opposite. (Laughs) When we have a cute concept he pretends to be cool. Jackson Because I’m not that good looking, I don’t think it’s really necessary for me to try to maintain my image.

Jackson isn’t handsome? Yugyeom He is! Jr. He has high standards.

But when he’s serious, he’s very serious. The fact that he considers '852’ (Hong Kong country code) to be precious is impressive. Jackson It is precious. Yugyeom I think he’s cool. He has a lot of pride in his country. Then I need to be '031’ (Yugyeom with the Kyunggi-do area code and whose family currently resides in Namyangju)? Jackson No, '82’ (South Korea country code)! Jr. I’m '055’ (Jr. with the Kyungnam area code and from Jinhae)! Youngjae I’m '061’ (Youngjae with the Jeonnam area code and from Mokpo)! (Q: Then we’ll have to go into Hong Kong area codes?) Jackson’s pride in Hong Kong is unlike any other. Jackson I’m very proud. I’m proud. Because it’s my home country… I like it. (Right as he finishes speaking his necklace falls off) Jr. This is right here is gag helped by nature! All (Laughs)

BamBam is from a different country too. Even though he’s from Thailand his Korean seems as good as a native speaker’s. BamBam (In a cute voice) I’m not that good.

Even the aegyo is overwhelming. On GOT7’s official twitter you replied “I’m already in jail” to “I’m filing a complaint about Bam oppa. Because he stole my heart” and “I like you” to “Rice cake vs. bread which one do you like”. BamBam Ahahahahaha. Yugyeom BamBam is the king of fan service! BamBam I also said that I was already in the fan’s house, waiting under the sofa, hehehe. Yugyeom That’s why he has the nickname BamTalker (BamBam + Stalker). BamBam I also get called BamStalker. Ehehe. In my teaser, there’s a scene where I tie shoelaces. When fans say ‘BamBam oppa tie my shoelaces please’ because of that, I reply ‘Turn around, I’m right behind you’. (Laughs) If they say ‘BamBam oppa buy me food’ then I say ‘Open your door, I’m right outside your house’. It’s usually scary to hear something like that but the fans like it so I just naturally say it. Jr. It’s a relief that BamBam is on our team. Because the rest of us tend to avoid stuff like that…

Who’s the hyung who treats BamBam the best? BamBam Ah, can I say this secretly? (Takes the recording device and says in a very small voice) Jack.Son.Hyung. Ehehe.

Along with BamBam, Yugyeom is part of the 1997 maknae line. In person, he feels like a 18 year old high school student, but he has the nickname 'Kim Yugyeom Oppa’. Yugyeom Sometimes I look older (Laughs). There aren’t a lot of opportunities for me to be called oppa so I like it when fans call me oppa. It doesn’t matter if the fan is older than me. Noona fans always ask me, “Can I call you oppa? Is it okay?” And I reply “Yes it’s okay, of course!” It makes me feel better.

When you first debuted, you introduced yourself as “Pure crystal Yugyeom”. Has the size of that crystal stayed the same or has it shrunk? Yugyeom I can’t introduce myself like that anymore. I think the crystal shrunk. (Youngjae: Did it crack?) I think it’s gotten smaller by about half, so I changed my introduction to “The youngest who doesn’t seem like the youngest”. (Laughs)

Hahaha, Youngjae who’s 19 this year, in the past you said that you wanted to attend a music therapy school. What do you think now? Youngjae I have a book pertaining to that subject, but I haven’t had time to look at it properly. Right now I think I need to like music more and practice music more so I want to try to attend the school Jinyoung hyung is attending now, Howon University. I still lack so much so I feel like I need to work harder and learn more. I’m definitely going to university.

You’ll definitely get in! Youngjae (Clenches fist) Hwaiting! (Laughs)

Like Youngjae said, Jr. is currently attending Howon University. Jr. I’m studying theater. Right now it’s okay because I’m on break, but I’m debating whether or not to take a gap year. There are a lot of promotions planned during the next semester… There’s so much I want to learn at school that I think I’m going to have to discuss it with the company.

Is there something you especially like in the curriculum? Jr. At school? I liked the one-on-one lessons. I started off not knowing anything so learning was really fun. And even though I couldn’t participate often, I watched the other students prepare for theater festivals and… Wow… For theater you need to learn the lighting, sound cues, the stage, acting, movement, everything. Theater is something that brings together all of this so the community feel of the production was interesting. It would be hard not to become close while preparing for a show, I was jealous. Theater is about interactions between those on stage so you can’t do it by yourself. While seeing that, I thought to myself that if I ever had the chance, I wanted to give theater a try.

There’s another university student in the group. JB studies film production at Konkuk University. On Mnet’s '4 Things Show’ a short film 'Dream’ was broadcasted. Jr. Jaebum hyung’s feet were quite cute in that. (Laughs) JB That film was similar to a 3 minute university film so there wasn’t anything special about it. I was a bit embarrassed. The visual was satisfactory but the subject matter among other things… It was started in the morning and finished very quickly.

Still, many people didn’t know of JB’s directing capabilites as a student so it still seemed to be meaningful. If JB made a film with GOT7 as the subject, what kind of film could be produced? Jackson Comedy, comedy! JB I think black comedy would match well. Or, a comedy like 'Marrying the Mafia’ with the seven of us as a family. Yugyeom (With a bright smile) Comedy and violence! (Laughs)

There was something JB said on '4 Things Show’ that left a lasting impression. “I feel like the future of GOT7 depends on how I act.” JB If I act rudely then I feel like that’s how people will view the entire team. I’m not saying that I’m a pillar for the team out of conceit. It’s because it’s my responsibility to lead the team. If I throw away that responsibility and play around or don’t focus, then the members might think that because the leader is doing that, it’s okay for them to do the same. (Q: Because of that, is there pressure being the leader?) Every once in a while if we make a mistake then I can feel embarrassed but I never feel pressured. Because we’re people, it’s normal to make mistakes.

Starting this August, you will be participating with the artists in your company in '2014 JYP Nation - ONE MIC’, and your Japan solo concert tour will start on October 7th. Last April, you performed your showcase in Japan, how was it? Jr. The stage and audience were close together so we could see the individual faces of the fans. There are only good memories of it. Yugyeom Compared to Korea, the scale was bigger so I was nervous. I was more nervous for the showcase than when we opened for 2PM in their Japan concert. But after the concert started and we performed more, it was fun.
