expansion time! specifically my reasoning for Tim as Achilles and Kon as Patroclus! i tried to make my reasoning make sense, but i’m totally a rambler so it may not be that coherent (sorry)
Tim as Achilles:
Tim’s family is definitely a big point here - especially status wise. he was born to the Drakes, a rich family, and after their deaths was adopted by Bruce fucking Wayne, the richest man in Gotham. to add onto that, the family name ‘Wayne’ is pretty prestigious, they have a good reputation around Gotham. they’re respected as a family and as individuals. the entirety of the Wayne family is basically Gotham royalty, which matches Achilles actual royal status pretty well. Achilles comes from a well respected royal family, as well as being well respected himself. the family name + wealth match well
also on that (and this is more on Bruce) but Tim is part of a family that is all adopted. while Achilles himself isn’t adopted - his father does take in a bunch of children to work and train in his kingdom. Bruce accidentally mimics this, acquiring children who all end up being vigilantes.
the next thing is reputation. both Tim and Achilles are very well respected as warriors. Tim may be known more for his mind, and Achilles for his fighting, but both of them hold prestige as heroes. one could compare Tim’e reputations as the next world’s best detective to Achilles’ reputation as the greatest warrior. both of them are titles to be grown into and will be earned by the respective hero. they also both had legendary mentors to train them to help them earn those future titles (Tim having Batman and Lady Shiva. Achilles having Chiron).
~
Kon as Patroclus:
Kon’s origins are tricky, but for the sake of this idea - i’m thinking Reign of the Superman (2019) movie. in which Kon is primarily raised (even ‘belonging’ almost) to Lex Luthor. who almost decides to kills him when Kon isn’t perfect for him. Patroclus was banished by his father, a King, because he killed another nobles son. the options were banishment or death! Kon leaves Luthor, rather than getting killed. Patroclus is forced to leave rather than be killed
after their respective leavings, they also both struggle with relationships and who they are. Kon isn’t Superman, never has been. he’s part Luthor. he also isn’t really family to Superman, they don’t really know each other. so he’s trying to find himself, and he ends up with friends to help him. Patroclus struggles after being banished, not exactly sure where he fits in. he was royalty, but now he’s just another boy in this army-to-be
also, they’ll both never fully live up to expectations. Kon will never be the next Superman - both because Clark came back go life and because Jon will be the one to take on that role. he’s never going to be what he was created to be, he’ll always be the third best option. there was a goal, a function he was meant to serve, and Kon couldn’t meet it. it doesn’t change that he is an amazing hero, it’s just that he’s never going to be The Superman. and Patroclus is similar, he could never be the prince that his father had wanted, especially after being banished. he was a great warrior but he was also overshadowed by Achilles. his death was heroic, a great feat of bravery, but Patroclus is mostly known because of his role in Achilles story - not for his own deeds.
and finally - both Kon and Patroclus died first!
-
anyway! so yeah, Tim for Achilles and Kon for Patroclus! i think it’s fitting that way!
TimKon au idea-
Kon and Tim as Patroclus and Achilles but Kon is Patroclus and Tim is Achilles
i promise it’s brilliant (when i’m coherent enough to explain it-)

Reverse Robins au but you include Stephanie instead of just the boys and keep Tim as the third Robin
it just works so much smoother. and gives Tim an actual chance to figure out who Batman + sidekick are because i’ve yet to see that included in a Reverse Robins au (maybe i just haven’t read enough of them?)
whereas if you keep his canon relationship/closeness to Steph he could totally figure shit out
also Steph’s time as a Robin may have been short, but it still happened. she was still an icon who did her best in spite of being given nothing to work with from Bruce
which is a dynamic that could work so well if she was included more often in Reverse aus
*
like you start with Damian, the first sidekick.
he comes from Bruce and Talia of course, being in love and young and having a kid. Talia fakes a miscarriage, continuing the canon idea of Damian being hidden from Bruce for years. but when Talia realizes the plans Ra’s has for Damian, she sends him off to live with his father
Damian then becomes B’s first sidekick. he wants to prove that he’s not just some dangerous killer, which he plans to do by becoming a hero like Batman. as he grows older, he maybe becomes less interested in saving people by being a vigilante - and instead by being a doctor
he leaves the vigilante business behind. maybe it leads to some arguments, mostly because Bruce is worried about what’ll happen to Damian if he leaves, or maybe their parting is kinder - Bruce being happy that Damian is choosing a safer lifestyle
so then comes Stephanie.
she can start as a young vigilante (around 11-12 years old) who pops up soon after Damian leaves, wanting to stop her father. she accidentally catches B’s attention, maybe by stealing some sort of useful supplies from him. they start a hesitant partnership, one neither of them is necessarily happy about at first - Bruce still wanting Damian, Stephanie reluctantly to accept help. but that bond grows, until they’re comfortable with each other.
personally, i like the idea that Damian starts out as angry, but becomes more accepting of Bruce getting a new sidekick after meeting Steph. and then, maybe a year or two into this partnership (around 13-14 for Steph’s age) - Stephanie is fostered by Bruce because her dad is in jail and her mom isn’t fit to have custody of her due to drug issues.
Stephanie’s death would then come when she’s 15. it would be interesting to do something with her father to drive her and B apart - maybe he was out of jail for awhile, and staged a plot that made it look like Steph killed/got a civilian killed? this would lead to an argument between them - Stephanie thinking B doesn’t trust her, Bruce thinking Steph should take a break because of the trauma - and to her then running away. she runs away to Ethiopia to stop the Joker when she hears he’s there, thinking it’s the best way to regain Bruce’s trust
and you know what happens from there
but enter Tim.
third Robin still, but this time he would know and figure out their identities because of Stephanie. while she was being fostered by Bruce, maybe she starts to go to the same school as Tim. they become friends, get along really well, maybe even date. Tim figures out Steph’s identity as Robin - could be just because Batman suddenly gets a new Robin when Bruce Wayne adopts Stephanie, or maybe Stephanie does something that Tim figures it out through. maybe Robin saves Tim and tells him an inside joke that’s between him and Steph. could be anything, but the point is that they’re close and that Tim figures out the identity of Batman and Robin through her. because legit, he needs something other than just ‘oh he stalked them’ or ‘oh he’s just a genius’ for got he realizes who Batman and Robin are
but then Stephanie dies. and Tim and Bruce may bond in their depression. Tim realises how bad B is doing though as the older man shows up looking worse and worse when they see each other. so one night, he steps in himself. he wouldn’t try to convince Damian to come back i don’t think - not when he can see the life Damian has built for himself and when he can truly share B’s grief over Stephanie.
this would lead to perhaps a darker period at first for Batman and Robin, both of them being swallowed by their depression. but eventually the two would be a good support system for each other, helping each other to grieve
a lot of Tim’s arcs could stay the same with his parents. his mom dies, his dad goes into a coma. B takes him in, though not necessarily fosters him. then his dad wakes up and forces Tim out of being Robin for a period of time
then enter Jason Todd.
so Jason would come in the period of time where Tim is not Robin. his intro could still be the same, he gets caught trying to steal the Batmobiles tires and Bruce then takes him in. i think that Tim, in this au, would actually be a lot more okay with this. he and B were using each other to cope with their grief - he wasn’t meant to be a permanent Robin
so Jason grows into Robin after being taken in by Bruce. maybe he gets some training and help from Tim along the way too. and he’s a damn good Robin, but then his father sells him out to Black Mask after realising his son was scooped away from him by Batman. maybe there’s also a monetary award for this, or some extra reason for Jason’s dad to sell him out, but that’s not the important part
after Jason’s ‘death’ - Tim comes back. just to stabilize Bruce again. this is when Stephanie would come back as Red Hood though, bitter at two people she thought she could trust seemingly spitting on the relationship she had with them by replacing her with each other as support systems. by this point, maybe Tim’s father is dead, maybe B has taken him in - though maybe Tim is emancipated
anyway - Damian could now come back as a vigilante, maybe motivated by wanting to help Stephanie. after all, they may have been close in this au. it could be interesting to reintroduce an older Damian stepping out of retirement to help Steph
Stephanie would then try to listen, i think she’d be more receptive of their attempts to talk with her if she was close to Tim. she may be less inclined to think she was replaced because she can tell that the two are being honest with her when they say that they used each other as support and to help each other grieve because they both loved her
so Stephanie is slowly but surely part of the family once again. i don’t think that Tim and Steph would date again - i think that death would create a barrier that they don’t overcome romantically but platonically instead.
i’ll be honest, i don’t completely know when Stephanie comes back. i feel bad about it, but that’s the truth. so because of that, i would probably bullshit Jason coming back after the Red Hood arc? whenever she comes back in the comics, that’s when Jason would come back idk
then comes Dick
so Dick would come at a calm period. maybe the whole Wayne (+Tim) family is like chill with each other. at least, enough that they can occasionally enjoy nights out together - like at the Haly’s Circus
cue the Falling Flying Graysons. Dick is instantly adopted by the group, of course he is. he’s taken in, but he’s still angry about the death of his parents.
i think that Dick becoming Robin would be different from Damian. Tim would fully hand down the role himself - he’s outgrown it and Dick actually needs the role himself. it’d be a way to channel his anger and to find his parents killer
*
anyway, that’s just my vague idea for a Reverse Robins au that includes Stephanie. i just need to see her more often because she’s honestly really interesting to incorporate
this is honestly probably a little too clean, and maybe part of why she isn’t included is because her and Jason are too similar in how their stories play out to he interesting to write about to people. i don’t know, i just think it’s fun to include her
also this became so much longer of a ramble than it was meant to be, my bad
also i’m sleep deprived so it probably don’t make much sense. oops?
(also please give me reverse robins aus especially if they include Steph - i’m always looking for things read)
#dc robin#dc robins#reverse robins au#not enough people include Steph#meanwhile she could make Reverse Robins so much more interesting#even if it keeps Tim as Robin 3#stephanie brown#tim drake#damian wayne#jason todd#dick grayson#for the record i also vote switching the Batgirls around#Cassandra becomes Oracle#Barbara is the second Batgirl#i just think it makes sense#(the only reason i’m not including Duke (when he should probably also be included) is because i know nothing about him (yet))#spence does rambles (dc)

yeah, music inspires to say the least. apparently it inspires tears and emotional death scenes 😔
What were you listening to whilst killing off Nico, Rain?
Oh well thank you for asking.
And then it's somehow turned into me listening into me listening to this song v
So it really depends on if it's when I started the role play or when I killed him.

Superman (2025) is the first time where i could (slightly) understand how the Clark Kent disguise would work
it wasn’t *just* that he wore glasses. like he did - and they did change his face slightly, which definitely helps. but there was more to it than just the glasses, i appreciate that
for example, he also upped his suit size by one. it helped make him look scrawnier than he truly is. it have the illusion that he doesn’t fill out a suit, that he isn’t muscular - isn’t broad even though he’s tall
but the thing that really sold it for me? his hair. Clark Kent had completely curly hair. it was a little bit messy, unruly even. Superman’s hair was gelled back, with only a swooping curl in the front. it’s a complete change in style - one that i find arguably more effective than the glasses to me
oh - and his posture and expressions are kind of different! Superman’s smile is kind of iconic, and he’s more extraverted in his posture. while Clark Kent was able to banter and joke, he was more caved in on himself. he was a little more nervous feeling, his expressions not as reassuringly happy at all times in public like Superman. he wasn’t as determined, the lines in his face softer and more worried than he looks as Superman
anyway - i like, never actually got how the ‘glasses’ disguise worked. now, after Superman (2025), i actually do get it. i don’t know the comics very well and that may have also been part of the issue - but like, it feels like the actor really did make a clear difference between Superman and Clark Kent. enough that even i, hero disguise hater, can get how his worked

i’m not saying that an opinion can be right or wrong
but if they could be, then this is simply correct
the obsessive yandere trope is an insult to a character like Basil. he’s not written for that trope - he’s written as a character with legitimate mental health issues. he’s a sincere character, one who doesn’t deserve to be put into a box that doesn’t fit, that in a way is a mockery of his character.
to truly say and believe that he’s just a yandere is to not understand his character and his trauma. because he isn’t obsessed and he wouldn’t kill anyone for Sunny. Basil wants to protect the Sunny because of what he witnessed. because of what they’ve been through and what he can’t bring himself to see, to believe.
i don’t have an issue with the yandere trope. i don’t have an issue with people who jokingly call Basil yandere. i do take issue when people seem to actually think that’s all there is to his character. it isn’t - he’s so much more than that
he’s traumatized, the person he’s “obsessed” with is the same boy he’s trauma bonded to. him and Sunny are codependent, and neither of them are okay.
Basil is more complex than the “obsessed yandere” trope allows for
Basil isn't some obsessive yandere. He's 16. He's mentally ill. He's dependent. Can y'all stop.
#omori#omori basil#basil ain’t yandere#he doesn’t even fit that trope#like at all#he’s just traumatized and not coping well#that being said -#if it’s just a joke?#then whatever - have your fun#but don’t pretend it’s canon to his character#spence does rambles (omori)

saw Superman (2025) last night
i’ll do an actual review (and probably actual essays because goddamn) later - but it was amazing. might actually be one of my favourite movies ever
it was real, and reflects on our real life events, what’s currently going on. it’s not subtle - and it shouldn’t be. they were not trying to hide their their message - they wanted it to look you dead in the eye, forcing you to see it. they wanted you to be forced to see the brutality of it all, of what’s going on. it’s telling you to wake up, because everything going on in this movie is also happening right in front of you, and there’s no reason or way to pretend otherwise
the movie is amazing. the message is even better. it doesn’t hold back - it says what it wants, and it tells you the message bluntly, clearly
also - slight (goofy) spoiler under the cut, but super vague
(and lord almighty we will be getting Kon in the future. i swear to god there was foreshadowing like hell for him to be created at some point)
(fucking punkrocker,,, ‘brains over brawns’,,, “tall, dark and martian isn’t my type”,,, this universe craves a Kon)
(next movie is just Lex Luthor destroying Superman’s reputation because he don’t pay child support, and nobody likes a deadbeat dad /j)

on the same wavelength of different shades, i also think they’re all blue. for writing - i like to use different imagery for them!
Bruce Wayne = steel. his eyes, once bright blue, are a saddened grey - dulled over time from the traumas he’s seen and carried. they sharpen as he focuses, cutting through the night like a blade.
Dick Grayson = the ocean. his eyes are a deep blue, and you can see his thoughts turning like the tides. they’re dark when he’s troubled, but turn bright with his relief, with his happiness
Jason Todd = sea glass. once a clear light blue, turned more of a teal green. they’re sharp, but fragile still - formed by harsh, brutal events, but coming out beautiful in a way of their own. the exact shade can shift, never set in stone
Tim Drake = the arctic. his eyes are cool, icy. they’re dangerous, a little but creepy - and often unreadable. there’s a blizzard when he thinks, his thoughts like snowflakes as they whirl in his mind.
Stephanie Brown = the sky. her eyes are a typically a bright, clear blue - like a sunny summer day. when troubled, her eyes grow darker, a storm brewing within her mind.
(and i know they aren’t blue-eyed, but imagery for the rest:
Cassandra Cain = like obsidian. dark and guarded, her eyes almost never give away her thoughts. but sometimes, in the right moment, you’ll see them shine - unable to hide her pure joy.
Duke Thomas = lava. his eyes don’t hide anything, fiery passion showing with every look. they light up, bright and near red, with his anger. when calm, his eyes are dark and cool - lava that’s about to settle with his content state
Damian Wayne = nature - but commonly grass. his eyes like stems of grass in the sun and wind, dancing with his amusement. when fighting his eyes are as sharp as a blade of grass)
Sometimes I look at a picture of the Batfamily and think “there’s too many blue-eyed bitches in that goddamn cave”.

is this a safe space to admit i-
i don’t care for Polly
i just don’t think she and Basil are as close as the fandom like to act. it feels like while she tries to take care of him and does worry - they aren’t actually close. she kind of wants to be, but he’s clearly avoidant when it comes to her
Polly seems sweet enough. i don’t dislike her, i’m just very neutral and don’t care about her that much
i think that if she stayed after Basil’s grandmother’s death, it would only be because of the job - not because of an actual mutual bond. she would stay because she’s a hired caretaker, and it’s her job, as Basil hasn’t let her get close
(and even then - with Basil’s mental health and everything that happened within the game, i don’t know she would be hired to stick around
his parents appear negligent, and he may be stuck into a psych ward instead of being released from the hospital right away. it wouldn’t be too shocking if Polly was let go of and took on another job, rather than like just taking care of the house until Basil was released
he would probably be on his own - as he is 16 in the events of the game, and old enough to take care of himself - or with someone new)
#omori#omori polly#omori basil#another late night ramble from Spence#i like Polly#i really do#but she isn’t a mother or sister to Basil#she’s a hired caretaker#even if she genuinely worries#and so i don’t like the idea that she sticks around post-good ending#it would make more sense if she took on another job#likely as a homecare nurse (which is what i suspect she actually is career-wise)#sorry?
