Controversial opinion but we need to apply anti-cringe culture shit to "edgy" art too. Like songs/poems/art/etc are not bad just because they're angry or sad or otherwise emotional and they're not bad for dark and violent. So much "edgy" stuff is just explorations of dark topics and/or mentally ill people working through shit via art.
Cringe culture isn't just bad when it's applied to positive expressions of emotion, it's also bad when applied to the angry and sad shit too. Let people be angry and sad in their art. It's fine.

We are well beyond canary in the coalmine warning levels with the way trans people and particularly trans women are treated on this site.
Maybe you've heard the metaphor of allowing wolves and sheep to share the same space, welcoming everyone. You end up with just wolves because allowing them in that space makes it unsafe for any sheep. Or the story about how a nazi goes into a dive bar and is refused service. The bartender then explains to someone else at the bar that if you serve them once they tell their friends and before you know it you're the nazi bar they all go to and normal customers don't feel safe.
Terfs and other bigots are seeing these targeted harassment campaigns succeed against trans women and rejoicing. They see Tumblr ban them and officially stand by those decisions as endorsement for their harassment. It's a sign to bigots across the internet that Tumblr is a good place for them.
And what's more is that a lot of us probably don't realize just how much trans women contribute to Tumblr. The women banned recently were sources of site-wide memes and posts I wasn't even aware originated from them.any years old memes and references can be traced back to trans women on this site.
How many of these folks have to be removed before this is no longer a site you want to be a part of it? Sure you cultivate your own experience, but you can't follow or interact with people who aren't here. And if I wanted to interact with the nazis and terfs I'd go to reddit.
I encourage everyone to reblog this. Trans women shouldn't have to be the only ones speaking out against the bigotry they're experiencing. They shouldn't be the only ones risking their blogs being nuked by staff. We have to stand with them.

I’m gonna be honest I do not care if a trans boy teen is annoying and has horrible taste in music y’all are just mean.
I’d rather hang around with Karkat who listens to Cavetown than someone who is mean.

I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind

Tumblr media
About a week ago I posted this.
I’ve been getting horrible messages like this in my ask for months, including:
Tumblr media
and my personal favorite
Tumblr media
After getting the message saying “Just go kill yourself” I was completely done dealing with this person’s horrible messages and replied with just an “Okay.” and logged off tumblr.
About a week later I logged back on with 17 messages in my ask, most of them from the anon. I scrolled down and at first when I logged off, the anon messaged me things like
Tumblr media
I scrolled up more and all of a sudden they started sending me more and more messages like
Tumblr media
This was extremely surprising to me. I thought “After all those horrible messages you sent to me for MONTHS about hating me and wanting me dead, you say ‘sorry’ and that you ‘cant be responsible for someone’s suicide’?”
But I guess the lesson goes like this:
DONT TELL ANYONE TO KILL THEMSELVES UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED FOR WHAT MIGHT ACTUALLY HAPPEN

People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

genuinely a lot of you need to sit the fuck down and think about whether you actually support transfeminine people or you're just chasers. cause a lot of this site's support seems to be "uwu fuck me big strong dommy mommy" "I want a sexy trans goth gf so bad" etc etc and it's so gross. like i dont think attraction the inherent problem here or anything but when every single post asking "do you actually support trans women/transfeminine ppl?" has some chucklefuck in the notes going "haha yeah, I support her ON TOP OF ME!" it gets really obvious that you do not actually know how to support them without sexualizing them. and that's. really incredibly not okay.

You have no excuse to be silent about the genocide in Palestine.
If you can’t reblog the posts about dead Palestinians, at least reblog posts about the history of Palestine.
At least reblog posts showing art made by Palestinians.
At least reblog posts that show fundraisers for Palestinians, e-sims that you can donate, and the arab.org website that helps you donate to Palestine for free.
At least reblog posts showing Zionist companies that we need to boycott.
That is the absolute least that we can do for Palestine.
The Palestinians are begging for us to use our voice. Some of them don’t even have access to internet, so their suffering goes unnoticed.
Please. Speak up for Palestine.
Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.
Free Palestine.

Growing up Arab literally means you’ve been told it’s your fault your whole life. It’s your fault you’re Arab, it’s your fault you were displaced from your homeland, it’s your fault you will never get the chance to practice your culture in an environment that endorses it. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest when I see think pieces out there about how “well they’re not MY children” “why should I boycott Starbucks for people I’ll never get to know or meet” “I’m not political so it’s not really my business” like that kind of thinking is exactly why Arab suffering has been perpetuated for so long. If it’s not your problem, then whose is it? Because at this point—when multiple countries like Palestine and Sudan are facing ethnic cleansing in real time—it has to be somebody’s problem.

Hey, if you don’t have something nice to say about other people’s creations (gifsets, art, fic etc)
then
don’t say anything at all.
