“The bottom line is this: You write in order to change the world, knowing perfectly well that you probably can’t, but also knowing that literature is indispensable to the world. The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way people look at reality, then you can change it…If there is no moral question, there is no reason to write. I’m an old-fashioned writer and, despite the odds, I want to change the world”
— James Baldwin

It’s not filler and surgery and restricting and shopping. It’s walking and circulation and spicy food and exfoliation and always burning a candle when you can and learning new languages and reading and sharing your products in the bathroom and talking with your hands and having strong convictions and stretching and regular dimly lit dinners and 3 hour long conversations and splitting dessert and offering your friend a hand massage. Hotness is not consumerism girls.

When the world stops it doesn’t jolt and halt and slam into you like you think it would. It slows down softly like a whisper, an aching gasp and a drop of a pin echoes like ripples of water. You wait for something to crash, to hit you but it doesn’t because a part of you stopped with it. A part of you froze so still it hurts. And you start to wonder if this is purgatory, if this is how it’ll be from now on. But the world keeps spinning, and a part of you never leaves, and somehow that’s worse.
