Public Service Announcement

You know, I'm really surprised to find that there aren't that many good public domain classical pictures of Mordred compared to all the other characters. He's always got his back turned or is dead or is lurking in the background behind other characters.

Exhibit A here which would be perfect if we could just see a bit of his face!

It looks like Mordred's going to have to be a special snowflake who's biography in JimBob's Guide to Which Arthurian Character Are You? will be a black & white illustration while everyone else is in full color.

I'm Gonna tag em as what if's since these aren't Canon ask and are made in good fun while we wait for updates and aren't ment to be answered with urgency.

[What if]

How would the RO react to MC being an extremely ancient immortal being that was accidentally made in the garden of eden but for some reason God decide to leave it to its on devices which lead to them essentially becoming a God of the earth?/lore keeper of sorts,

wandering around and eventually meeting a 18 Year Old Merlin aswell as Arthur and joining the roundtable where they meet a certain someone along the way.

Then years later they meet Merlin again after the second circle failed and helped him with his injuries aswell as getting him up to date on what they have been doing after the fall of Camelot, they had been clearing the dead zones only leaving a couple in preparation for the 3rd and Final circle.

They pretended to be afraid and scared from the demons but MC already knew the apocalypse started because they detected the demons and the four horsemen of the apocalypse the moment they arrived on earth and didn't care about the apocalypse until they got Adrian involved....maybe also because of Merlin, Vivian and Arthur Aswell but they will never admit it.

MC is essentially FGO Enkidu

a being tied to the earth and as close to the realm of the Gods in sheer magical power and knowledge.

Their appearance when their not disguising themselfs to appear human is being tall, having tree bark like horns with plant life growing from them and plant like vine tattos with flowers over their arms and legs.

The ROs would treat this supposed MC the same way they would an extremely old and powerful fae like Gloriana, Oberon, or the first Lady of the Lake Ninianne as that's about as close to something that could actually exist in the One Knight Stand world as this scenario gets.

So everyone's side-eying the MC, Merlin is as nonchalant as ever as no one's meeting them when they're young or healing them, and Adrian probably shows up way later in the narrative.

I need angst

What would the RO's reactions be if they saw a serious MC having a mental breakdown?

A lot of this depends upon the situation. Are they alone with the MC or with the others? Are they in a safe spot or in the middle of an emergency? High affinity? Romance? Subplot completed?

Assuming high affinity, but still relatively early in the plot...

Merlin: *another tuesday, another mortal having as mental breakdown* There, there, yes, get it all out of your system. I can't lie and say it will be all right, but still-- *gets dropkicked by Adrian*

Adrian: *is the most freaked out here since he's the one who understands how out of character this is for the MC* *rubs MC's back -- unless this is touch averse MC -- and insert one of the scenes already in the game where Adrian comforts hyperventilating MC*

Arthur: *drapes his cloak over the MC and waits nearby for them to calm down so they can talk things out*

Percy: *hand on MC's shoulder, random guinea pig left in MC's hands*

People can submit their stats for playthroughs. Are there any playthroughs you encountered that really stood out to you? If so why? What's the most fucked up playthrough you've seen?

The most fucked-up playthrough I've seen was one that had a bunch of stats set to 0 somehow.

I've no idea how that even happened... even if I updated the game files in the middle of their playing the game, that usually just boots the player back to the beginning of the scene (which means they can actually get their stats boosted higher since they're running through the scene twice).

So something was definitely bugging out there.

Otherwise, I can't really tell too much about what a person's doing in the game just with their personality stats and whatnot. There's 1800+ variables and I'm only checking a couple of them that I need to stat balance.

I'm also not paying too much attention to the stats of an individual playthrough (except for that one weird 0 one), but am rather collating the data to tell if the average player is say... using the vending machine during the fencing club route.

How would ROs react to MC wanting to hug them?

Let’s assume high affinity, because otherwise I feel there’re a couple ROs who might just smack MC in the face hahaha.

Also assuming this is a more lovey-dovey hug while out in public/surrounded by the others. A lot of the ROs will have very different responses depending upon the exact situations.

Merlin: They are nibbling. How, where, and in which way may be spoilers.

Adrian: Platonically offering his physical reassurance and-- is Lust MC grabbing his ass?!

Arthur: He's amused. Back in Camelot, people were very "art thou worthy to touch the king?" so he's been a bit touch-starved and is amused at hw touchy-feely the modern people can be.

Percy: "You need to hold on harder for a proper chokehold."

Tbf mordred's villainy has also varied significantly between tellings. But his current popularity can probably be explained as good old-fashioned bad boy allure

Yeah, I mentioned that the IF Mordred: Blood Cries Afar seems to be based on the Scottish Scotorum Historia (where Mordred is legitimate and Arthur is the bastard), but going through The Matter of Britain (aka the actual lore not written by those less-than-friendly with the English), Mordred's characterization just gets worse and worse as you progress chronologically.

While there are one off sentences here and there, no stories of Mordred the Royal Knight who was peaceful and more loved than Arthur actually survived to the modern day (and Mordred doesn't have tales where he's a healer or taking Arthur off to Avalon like Morgan le Fay does).

That's why there's that pretty popular scholarly theory that Lancelot was created for the French courts for the whole courtly love thing with Guinevere because Mordred's reputation had tanked too badly to be acceptable.

In the FAQ it says if you want a clusterf*ck experience, then you should play as a security guard with fear itself as your phobia. But if you have phobophobia you can’t choose to be a security guard

Those suggestions are the early customizations that can bite the MC in the ass/send the narrative down a darker storyline, but they're not all meant to be played at the same time.

The security guard will fail the possession check eventually (and also has by far the freakiest flashback to their job), but there are other ways to get possessed as well like looking at something you shouldn't.

Fear is definitely the phobia that has the largest impact on the MC, but death and blood can also cause a lot of problems during the apocalypse. And darkness is pretty bad phobia during Chapter 1.

Arthur’s going to be side eyeing the FUCK out of any pc named Mordred 😂

He can join in the pile with Adrian and Merlin and Adrian. And Gwen and anyone else who knows a bit about arthurian lore. Did I mention Adrian? (Except Percy, he doesn't do the side-eye thing. Only eyes on the back of his head on that one).

Then everyone can side-eye 'Mordred' MC when they start accusing each other of acting "very Mordred" during the road trip.

I literally just found this game and holy shit I love it, I love Arthurian lore! OwO Although.. I wasn't prepared for the jokes so playing this at 4am when i couldnt sleep was probably not one of my brightest ideas but it did help keep my mind off things. completely lost my shit. found it, then lost it again. Will we skip the final confrontation if we are in a (sorta) relationship with 404? Will they just sit down and let the team pass while we make out? How would the others handle that?

That's assuming a lot of things. That there's going to be a "final confrontation". That 4̵0̷4̶ ̵E̸r̶r̵o̴r̸ ̴N̴o̴t̴ ̴F̵o̷u̴n̷d̵ would even be a part of that. There are a lot of different factions in play here in which 4̵0̷4̶ ̵ represents just one of them.

The other ROs reactions to MC going after 4̵0̷4̶ would be various shades of "Are you crazy?!" with Merlin & Vivian basically chipping in "Yeah, mortals do be crazy like that sometimes."

Hello! This is something rather small. I was just wondering about the fencing route's "strategic retreat" section. I was playing the MC as mute, but they abruptly speak "we've got a wee bit of a problem here guys" and I wasn't sure whether it was a bug or not I just wanted to let you know if so. Thank you!

I just checked the coding for that section and it appears to be working as intended. It seems that the mute flag was already turned off during that particular playthrough. (If the mute flag is still in effect then You have yet to speak a word. will appear at the bottom of the Status menu)

The mute gets toggled off the first time the MC sings, yells, chooses a "dialogue" option, or basically makes any sort of outloud vocalization.

So, unfortunately I don't know if there's a bug here or if you picked one of the options that correctly toggled the mute variable off. If during you next mute playthrough you periodically check the Status menu that should let you know what option might be doing that.

No problem! Since the answer was already typed up and in the queue, I'll go ahead and let it post for anyone who's having similar problems. Glad to see that you figured out what was triggering it!
