hi, i love your art sm!! do you have any tips for stylisation and capturing someone's personality in your own style? aside from using refs
also I'm curious how long have you been drawing for ? thank you and have a nice day! x
Hello!! Thank you so much! I've been thinking for a helpful advice for a bit but I'm afraid I don't have any that you haven't heard before. Because… how do you capture likeness of anything else in your own style? You observe and analyze, which means drawing from life or sigh using references (sorry). It took me quite a while to get a grasp of it and I still struggle, I just don't share the pics that are bad lol, but what helps me personally is picking the right refs to draw from. Look for the ones where the person makes facial expressions unique for them. Do studies and memorize significant bits that make a recognizable picture of the person. It can be lips quirking down, how the wrinkles look like, eye shape when they smile, even ear shape lol everything is important. After all that you wont need to use references as often and your own style will take over.
Ive been drawing for quite a while, I'm in my thirties and I used to draw storyboards professionally for ad agency for like 7 or so years. That is why my style is kinda comic-book-but-not-really like, my compositions are often full and I really, really prefer drawing horizontal panels.
Hope you will find my answer at least a little helpful, happy drawing, anon!
#i dont draw boards anymore though. or veeery rarely bc ai still cant generate some very specific things. its a matter of time though#replaced by the ai team yaay ...womp womp

I really do have to tell you, I'm so obsessed with your art. I found your work through your recent Robby/Abbot art and anytime I see your work on my dash, I'm blown away. You have such a distinct and gorgeous style -- I could spot it from a mile away because it is so unique and unmistakable (and I think that's no easy feat!! when I used to draw, I remember really viscerally struggling to create and curate a really distinct "look"). I love the sketchiness of your work, the way you use highlights and shadows, and the way you use such gorgeous color schemes to do it. Thanks for sharing your work with us!!
Hi! Thank you so much for such a sweet message<3 You put a huge smile on my face and I really needed that!!! Always happy to know my art resonates with people.
