On our IKEA 'journey', I stumbled across a kitchen setting, in which an old Haji (although he may not have gone umrah even) was holding a water kettle & slowly scuffling to the sink while a couple of unrelated photobombing children (read: "grandkids") were playfully running around. 'Time flies by when you're having fun.' A phrase that has stood the test of time. Yet therein lies only partial truth, because having fun takes our focus away from time itself, and at times, having fun takes our focus away from what's important. In actuality, time flies by quickly regardless. Take right now. Here we are in mid-October 2015, and moreover, brimming at the 1st day of رأس السنة الهجرية. And my, how things have taken a turn. There was a time when I had a ravenous appetite for bitterness and jealousy, and always took everything anyone (including myself) said or thought to heart. A time when pressure to be like or better than someone else - whether it be trait, talent, wealth, fitness, knowledge, countless others - would leave my thoughts in a strange place of discontent misery. And a time when I would blame myself and then blame & question God Almighty for what ever 'hardship' (or so I thought) came my way. The many and incredible ups & downs of the past (Hijri) year have brought upon me new or shall I say enhanced light, new perspective, new confidence even, and most importantly, change of mind & heart. Putting aside everything else and putting myself first helped me in understanding who I am as a person made me more forgiving towards myself, my past, my flaws & my weaknesses. Not until the past year did I feel in me a sense of newborn serenity. And not until the past year did I begin to understand the unbreakable, unconditional & uncontended feeling of being Redha. A certain coffee date has imbued me to share this little something, and if you know me, I'm no regular storyteller. But it sure isn't a regular story to begin with. So here's a smile, because الْحَمْدُلِلَّـهِ for all the things I am & am not. For all the things I have, and for all the things I don't have. GUYS GUYS GUYS. To answer most questions, yes I am alive so please breathe! So extremely long crazy story short, I unintentionally left my phone in a locked house in the UK before my Eurotrip (yes that's me), and had no way of communicating since then i.e. laptop, phone, wifi, SMS, email, cup + string, keep going, don't stop there. I am back in London now & when I picked up my phone from this kind Bruneian man whom I wish to trend as #kindBruneianstranger, I switched it on & it literally exploded. 15000 texts, 300 emails & dozens of Snapchats scattered the streets of Gloucester Square, painting the town red 💄 #nojoke #kindbruneianstranger So to my babes, my loves, my darlings & my huns, I am soooo sorry (give me Sats to read it all & Sun to reply). And tell my bosses I'm coming back to work, tell my colleagues I didn't elope with some exotic man who swept me off my feet (yet) & tell my friends I'll make it up with crazy food/good/hood stories over crazy good coffee.
