Getting shirty
Tumblr media
If you like graveyards and rude staff, this is the place for you!
I was surprised when I found this hotel for cheap so close to the city. When we arrived I found out why; its right across the street from a cemetery. The tombstones are so close you can read them while enjoying a cigarette in the parking lot. The hotel itself is in good condition, I didn't feel like cleanliness was ever an issue while staying here. Their breakfast isn't that good but there's a dunkin dounts and mcdonalds within walking distance. Free shuttle service that is apparently run by the owner's family is always late, so we just ubered to the subway station. This one night the guy who was driving the shuttle service rudely scolded a customer for not being outside when he got there. Then another night a whole group of us were waiting for the shuttle and I even saw the guy pull in to a parking spot and about 20 minutes later he left without any announcement. If there were to be any delays it should have been made known to us while your staff clearly saw us waiting in the lobby. This failure in communication resulted in us losing time on an already short trip. Another failure in communication I would like to address is your GM Kristy. On the day of checkout we packed our belongings and one of my friends found that he was missing a shirt. We checked our belongings multiple times and still the shirt was nowhere to be found. My friend went to the front desk to ask them to check the laundry room, in case the shirt got mixed up with used bed sheets. That is a completely possible scenario but not one your gm took seriously. She tried to make it seem like my friend was accusing them of the missing shirt, and became defensive and condescending. I was staying here on an employee rate, so after this interaction Kristy called my general manager in Virginia and told her that I made a scene in the lobby and was almost removed by the police. She stated that my friend identified himself as me but he only said my name because the room was under my name. Another false claim she made about me was that I smoked in the room, based solely on the presence of empty cigarette packs in the trash can. So I was about to be charged a smoking fee for putting trash in the trash can. After receiving a heated call from my general manager, I called the hotel and talked to Kristy herself, who would not even let me finish a sentence and was yelling over me the whole time. She reported me so I would not be sent a survey, but good thing you can't block me from writing on tripadvisor :) If it wasn't for lack of customer service skills and terrible breakfast, I might have given this place a 3.5. I must say, however, the lady who checked me in was very pleasant and brought some life to this melancholy establishment. She should get a raise and Kristy's job. - airport hotel, New York

Clever, but not clever enough to check the prices on the menu
Tumblr media
We have two previous new year meals at this restaurant both good. We booked a table for 8 persons, had to wait 15 mins for pre booked table, offered a table by the door which looked like a canteen table ,cutlery not laid ,paper napkins you would expect at McDonalds. Asked a question about a particular meal the owner waiter replied in a Flippant manner saying how clever I was with cynical grin. And then the food arrived, compared to the previous meals all our meals were a poor standard, the Calzone pizza was all pastry once opens it was about third filled, we all found it comical . I can only think they have lost their chef .the total bill was £220 with one Bottle of wine 3 beers and 1 sweet. The little Italian owner had a big smile on his face has we left needless to say we did not. Not a good memory to start a new year and of course will not be returning.
[This is the same restaurant as the last review, so I suppose they at least got an Italian on-site]

They're not Italian, and the seafood isn't from Hove
Tumblr media
None of the staff in this restaurant is Italian, although the décor is pleasing the food is awful. Other people may have eaten something different but what we ate was not freshly cooked, the sea food was stale the pasta like leather, my friend had 4 scallops on a bed of stodgy rice which cost £20. The owner tried telling us that the muscles (which were tiny and certainly far from fresh) had come from the far east because the ones at the fish market in hove were poisonous! absolute rubbish, we will not be going again

Aren't you meant to put waterlogged rice into a bag of mobile phones?
Tumblr media
What a way to end a good day. The atmosphere was good and from there it all went down hill . The waitress splattered clam chowder soup on my shirt and then the soup was cold, but it was still good - would have been better if warm. The bread was hot - should have used that to warm the soup up with. The came the meal. I ordered the pork chops and they looked great, that is until the waitress poured a glass of ice water all over the plate and on to my lap. The plate had water up to the brim - and it was a deep plate. So the took the meal away and came back with just replacing the cold plate with a hot plate. the pork chops were cold. The rice was put in a microwave as it was steaming and too hot to eat.
Now you say, call the manager, and what good would that had done - given me a free meal - it was my birthday so my meal already was free. This was the worst dinning experience I have ever had and over the last 50 years I had a few. The manager never even came over to see how things were.
I will Never go back to this restaurant again

It was so slow, it felt like it was fast?

The food was good however our waitress was Extremely slow and made our special occasion feel worse than a fast food experience. We probably will not go back there. Too much money for awful service.

Maybe drive on to Fort Wayne... or Indiana?

Not impressed.
There is nothing great about any restaurant in Toledo and this place is no exception. It's bland, boring, cheap, and less than what you would expect from a fast food place in other states.

The food must be absolutely amazing

I have visited UJ's many times over the past 15years and this restaurant provides a reprehensible restroom experience every time! Pretty sure they haven't put a nickel into any remodeling or air fresheners over the past 15 years….Come on Uncle John! The mens restroom is only 10' x 6' in size. It wouldn't take much to bring it up to average or acceptable.

Are you actually complaining that the meatloaf is not multi-coloured?
Tumblr media
Tonight we sat at counter to avoid waiting for other seating. Ordered the meatloaf special which was the same price as Gardenview's last week meatloaf special... Gardenview for the same price included choice of two sides and a roll. corn muffin or biscuit. This evening got a slab of meatloaf with a pile of mashed potatoes (did have a choice of what kind of potato) and nothing else, no sides, no roll not even a piece of parsley to at least break up the white and brown monotony on the plate. Also had to walk across restaurant to get a refill of iced tea. As we sat at counter we could not help but notice each time a server did something at the salad prep or desert area against the wall that nothing was wiped down and the debris of crust, salad and pie fillings accumulated. During 45 min. or so not one server cleaned up the area after themselves.... Towards the end of "dinner" a girl came up to the pie area with a pen and clipboard evidently taking inventory of the pies. Putting pen down and with same hand putting bare fingers into the pie tins to tip down and view the contents. No plastic glove cross contaminating the pies with wherever her hands had previously been. Want a real meat loaf special? Go to Gardenview and yes their mashed potatoes are real not instant and for the same price you can get a full meal in a clean restaurant.
[I'm guessing this critic is a big fan of the Gardenview, if not just the Gardenview dressed up in a hat and coat]

I really wanted more detail here
Tumblr media
While taking a stroll through the boardwalk, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in the gift shop to look for gifts about a week back. As we walked in a woman who seemed to be the manager said hello while she held a phone up to her face. Shortly after saying hello that woman began to yell into the phone. She was making extremely disrespectful and inappropriate comments into the phone in front of many of the customers. I do not want to explain the things that she said because they were so awful. She even went as far as to threaten whoever was on the phone, to "report her parents to ICE." The woman continued to have this phone conversation in front of the entire store of customers, while my boyfriend and I walked out of the store nearly sick from hearing this and didn't purchase a single item. This incident was extremely unprofessional and I hope no other customers have to hear anything like that on a causal stroll into a gift shop because the store and the products that I saw in the short time in the store were beautiful, but I would never go back knowing that rude people, like that woman, work there.

You should always ask whether the chef is bald
Tumblr media
I wish I could leave a 0 star review. I have been a local my whole life and have ordered from oats a few times a month but after my experience this weekend I will never eat here again. After picking up my food this weekend and getting home I opened my cheesesteak to find a big black HAIR in my food. When I called to let them know she said to bring the full order back for a refund so I left right away to show them the hair. When I got there one of the owners pulled me aside so i guess no one else could here me say there was a hair in my food. When I showed it to him I was shocked by his reaction. He simply shrugged his shoulders and said eh it happens did you want your money back? IT HAPPENS?! That’s all you have to say? So I guess people finding hair in their food happens often. Will never be going back there again, so grossed out.

We'd rather close than move a table
Tumblr media
I loved the food and the waitstaff and have been a customer for almost 20 years. However, last night was our last visit due to the unprofessional behavior of the owner. My kids took me for my birthday- we called, they were open so 5 of us went. WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE there. We asked to add a table to ours for more room- they did then 5 minutes later the waitress took the table back apologizing that the owner said no extra table. Um, we were the only people in the place so who were we upsetting? We asked to speak to the owner to explain this was a 1 time request as NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE - and a birthday celebration. Instead we heard a lot of shouting and the owner cursing in the kitchen. We left but as we were walking to our cars - the lights went off- they shut down. Maybe they shouldn't have opened for the night!!!! They not only lost our business and friends and family----- but definitely my respect - for an owner to treat not only his customers so badly- but for the way he yelled at his staff using foul language!!

I guess if you stay in a hotel every single day, you might lose track of where you're losing your shit
Tumblr media
My husband and I live in hotels every day of the year. We have even stayed at this location multiple times. My husband and I have never been treated with such disrespect. We asked for our room to be cleaned because these rooms are not cheap. The manager of housekeeping basically said get over it. I called IHG and they also spoke with the manager of housekeeping and was told the same thing. The customer service person I spoke with at IHG was DeMario. He apologized on behalf of the hotel and recommended I contact the General Manager Kathy Wilson. The girl at the front desk refused to give us her information, but we were able to gather that information on our own. If I could rate this hotel with a negative amount of stars I would. I worked for IHG at another hotel and I feel that the customer service part of the company has gone to hell in a hand basket. They no longer care about the way their guests are treated. I read reviews in deciding where we eat and where we stay as well as attractions we visit. I write a travel blog that is read by thousands of people and I assure you I will not be saying anything positive about this hotel... I will do everything in my power to let others know that Candlewood Suites Denver Tech Center Meridian isn’t the place and the would want to stay when next door there is a Hilton Garden Inn at a comparable price, offers breakfast and many other amenities that this place does not offer. You would be better treated there and customer service is still an important thing to pass on to your guests.
I give this place a negative 5 stars instead of anything positive!!!!!!!!
NEED A NEW HOUSEKEEPING MANAGER THAT HAS PEOPLE SKILLS!!!!

Response from Tour23480835886, General Manager at Homewood Suites by Hilton Denver Tech Center
Responded Mar 28, 2019
This response should be removed because it clearly does not belong to the Homewood Suites DTC because we are a Hilton brand not IHG. The General Manager here is not Kathy Wilson either. Please remove this review.
Clearly this is Homewood Suites, Denver Tech Center.
[You have to marvel at the grand claims about being an influential travel blogger who appears to be unable to find their way round TripAdvisor to the right hotel to fume about.]

Lucky this place didn't have to cope with seven brides for seven brothers
Tumblr media
I was a guest here for two nights the weekend of my wedding. I was not told my staff when booking, or when I arrived that there was a private wedding happening in the hotel at this point. - me being a bride myself was made to leave to lovely room, to a less grand room and made to hide and steak out the back exit.
I chose this hotel for its beautiful grounds, thinking I would get lovely pictures of my wedding morning with my bridesmaids.. however this was not the case. - I wasn't allowed any photos and my wedding morning was runied!
I was extremely embarrassed by this. My photographer said she had never seen this happen to another bride before and it was absolutely disgusting.
Management response:
Tumblr media
Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent experience with us.
The hotel does have an exclusive wedding policy for our brides getting married at the hotel, unfortunately this cannot be relayed to guests which book online via travel agents, vice versa you were unable to inform us you would be a bride getting ready to leave here.
It would not be nice for our bride to see another bride on her wedding day as in fact it would not be nice for yourself walking into a lounge full of guests for another wedding. The offer of you leaving via our Marquee grounds is made to save embarrassment on both sides, and I am not sure why your photographer was unable to take photos in this area which still has the lovely view.
Thank you once again for leaving your feedback.
[Is this a superstition thing? I mean, most registry offices are going to have brides seeing each other in waiting areas and so on. It's not like it's going to cause an explosion if you get two brides near each other.]

"I'm sorry, madam, we don't let customers vomit food they've eaten in other restaurants"
Tumblr media
We decided to visit here, as we normally do every other weekend with our youngest children and grandchildren as it's a lovely place to be, and staff are friendly, however today has not been the case;
16/12/2018. 15:15pm
On entering the restaurant my 2 year old granddaughter was sick, on the floor, twice. There were 2 members of staff within 3 feet of where I was standing, who just stood and stared at us. It took my partner to ask if they could get some paper towels, and a mop and bucket to assist us with cleaning the area.  They completely ignored the request and moved away, to say I was shocked was an understatement. Two separate families were sitting at the adjoining tables and were as equally shocked, and proceeded to hand us baby wipes to clean up. Around 3 minutes later, a member of staff came back and we asked again for a mop and bucket, he returned this time with just that and a message from his manager saying we had to mop up ourselves. I had to request water and detergent to go along with the mop and bucket.
After cleaning up, mopping the floor, wiping tables, chairs and requesting slippeey floor signs, I was then confronted by the manager Sam, a rather unpleasant lady, who informed me that they were not responsible for the cleaning of the restaurant,I asked what would she of done had we walked out, her response was that she wouldn't of cleaned it and would have got a garden centre member of staff to mop up. Due to their Policies on cleaning. Never in 20 years of working within the food industry have I ever heard such a poor excuse, nor have I ever come across this policy. But the most shocking part was the attitude of Sam, she really should not be customer facing. To stand and sneer at a customer, shows more about her and her attitude and how she sees customers. We come here every other weekend, and my bill comes to just short of £25 each time plus the child wristbands of £1.75 for which I normally buy four.
I can safely say that you have lost my custom. You may not think much to this, however customer service should be at the forefront of your business continuously, in good or bad times.
[Extra passive aggression points for eventually bringing a bucket, but without any water in it, here]

... and you try and tell the kids today that, they won't believe you
Tumblr media
I was very disappointed. No taste, but so typical of today. 1980 was our first curry. Had them for years, probably 25 years or more but the new curry houses have lost the plot on how to cook authentic curries. The younger generation of curry goers wouldn't know any difference, it seems to be the same everywhere.I think the old chefs never passed on their expertise which is a real shame, especially how to make to basic onion sauces which every curry springs from. I can't remember when I had a last Keema nan that was red , tasty and bursting with flavour. Shame

Fight night
Tumblr media
Went for a walk in dinner tonight with the Mrs. It was a shame to see and hear a member of staff offer a customer outside for asking a simply question about drink choice, something that we had also raised as a question. To be in the middle of what should be one of the busy periods of the year and only have 1 drink choice of which they ran out of is appalling.
One of the worst parts of it all 2 blokes that work there then sided with the woman that made the threat against a single woman; how mighty brave of them.
If you are going to go and eat there make sure you sit down don’t ask questions, or take your boxing gloves if you’re looking to go a few rounds with a member of staff to work off the food - Restaurant, Northamptonshire
