This morning,
I look out at thick snow,
knowing there is clover beneath.
Part of honoring nature,
honoring a world bigger and wiser than me,
is that I don’t hold back hope
to the limits of my own sight.

Failed Poem About the Moon
I try and fail to photograph the moon.
Yet, she speaks through my failure.
She says,
“You can’t save me for later.”
“You can’t post me online.”
“You can’t press me between pages.”
“Be here. Right now. With me.”
“I won’t accept anything less.”

The moon looks giant as it sets.
It feels like I could reach out
And grab the orb from the sky.
It beckons me to stare back into it
As it waxes yet to become a full moon,
Barely hovering above the trees
That encases the road.
Though it casts a silver glow
Upon all that lies under it's light,
It’s painted a pale orange
That shines so bright.

☀ I can see the sun ☀
Today
As I wake up again
A sweet and tender light caresses my face
And for the first time in a while
I can see the sun
Today
As the night falls once more
I can still feel its presence
Like an undying warmth
Not willing to let my heart go
Today
Following its path
The sun rises again
Bathing my skin with its light
How good it is to be touched with such softness
Today
My sun came back
And for the first time in my life
I am certain it is meant to stay
Like a never ending cycle of love
After staying in the cold dark night for so long
Today
I can see the sun again
The night seems less cold
My heart seems less empty
The sky is finally full
Today
I watch the sun rise again
I catch a ray of sunshine in my hand
And keep it close
Just in case my mind gets unmerciful again
To remind myself it will always stay
To remind myself I am not alone
And I can't wait to write about tomorrow
As long as it colors my sky every morning
And as long as I crave it during the night
Tomorrow
I want to see you again
