*Felipe puts both of his hands on his chest then imitates holding a spear out in front of him.* Diego: Give me a moment, Felipe. *He looks to the others in the room.* Diego: Excuse us, please. *Diego puts out his hands and leads Felipe into the library, then looks over his shoulder before speaking.* Diego: Let's keep a clear head. Stay in the cave and Zorro will deal with this jealous young Indian. *Felipe holds up his hands then touches them to his chest then imitates holding a spear again.* Diego: Yes, I know, it's your fight… But a Chumash warrior is a formidable opponent. *Felipe thrust out his chest, a bit angrily.* Diego, concerned: Felipe, you don't know the first thing about spear fighting!

Diego, thrusting at Felipe: Parry! Parry!

*Felipe parries Diego's blows.*

Diego: Now come in.

*Felipe tries to, but his pole is deflected by Diego's and narrowly avoids getting hit in the chin.*

Diego, looking at Felipe: Just as you would with a sword, once my move has been turned aside, you must go on the offensive.

*Felipe nods.*

Diego, smiling proudly: I'll give you one thing: you've got courage, Felipe. Again.

*They begin practicing again. Felipe parries Diego's attack and swings his pole above Diego's head, who ducks just in time to avoid getting hit.*

Diego: Good!

*They both smile and resume practicing.*

Diego, more concernedly: You're certain I can't go with him? Kinona, shaking her head: It is not permitted.

Love this little bit. Scene has nothing whatsoever to do with the episode plot-- just Diego in his basement obsessing over his beloved explosives.🎇❤

Felipe is not quite matching Diego's enthusiasm today, but he's playing along. It's ok kid. Diego is just happy you're there to see it too.😅

Diego is at her bedside, holding her hand, stroking it and kissing it.* Diego, heartbrokened: I've been forced to postpone much of what a man my age should be doing, like building a life with the woman I love… The woman I love lies here dying. *He touches her forehead, gently pushing back a piece of her hair.* Diego, increasingly heartbrokened: If you die, Victoria, Zorro will die with you. *He kisses her hand again.*

He wakes up and realizes she has regained consciousness. He immediatly kneeling beside the bed.* Diego, relieved: Victoria! You're… Victoria, a bit disoriented: How long have I been here? Diego: Over a week.

He's gone to fight Bishop!

Gray Wing: He ate many berries. *Felipe ducks away to his right.* Gray Wing: An older man would be more careful of his stomach. Ramon, grinning evilly: Brilliant! The man is brilliant! It won't be long, now. *Diego looks very worried.*

We better find it, before our air runs out. *He grabs a stick from one of the support posts and puts his arm around Felipe's shoulders.* Diego: Come on. *They turn and walk further down into the mine.*

Inspired by the dead bird post, and because I'm an ornithology person in another life, here's more--

Diego and Birds:

"We can learn much from observing our winged visitors. Each has it's own personality."
