This remake of the masterpiece Tokyo Story is less depressing than the original. The first part is almost the same as the original, except that it was shot in color. However, a scene in the second part of the movie, between the mother and youngest son will make you forget that this is a remake.

One of my favorite Japanese movies. Set in World War II, it tackles a lot about family, friendship and a bullying in Japanese schools. The film also features one of my favorite Japanese songs.

This film may have the elements of Okuribito (Departures), Kokuhaku (Confessions) and Wandafuru Raifu (After Life) but it still captures the interest of the viewers from start to finish. I think I can work as a "Connector"

Saw this film on my flight to Singapore. There were two scenes that still kept on playing inside my head. The slapping scene and "that scene".

Entirely shot in Hokkaido. The way the narration unfolds is enough to keep the viewers interested. And if you are into silent / more of a talking film, this one is for you. Boo to the trailer though. It contains a spoiler!
A CHORUS OF ANGELS (Kita no Kanariatachi)

Aside from the story and direction, the use of black and white, framing, music were well-executed. it's one family drama that you should watch. i wonder whether Kore-eda took inspiration from this film for his movie "Aruitemo, Aruitemo"

I am not sure why Japanese trailers are giving away the plot. One of the inspiring Japanese films I've seen lately. (I love the soundtrack too, hope to find the songs later)

Too bad that the trailer obviously gives away the plot of the story, but if you are celebrating Hanabi season, this is still worth watching

This movie will bring back the child in you. Clever for Kore-eda to use real-life brothers as main characters.
