artist shoutout: still woozy

since i’ve seen their set at coachella, i’ve been addicted to still woozy. every day since then there’s about a 80% chance that again will be playing in my head as soon as i wake up, like a theme song that’s starting off an episode of a show.

i’ve been familiar with still woozy before then. goodie bag had already downloaded prior. this is an act that would constantly pop up in my recommendations in apple music and spotify, and i feel late to the party and like i should’ve listened much sooner because wow i was missing out before.

sven gamsky, or still woozy, has a way of producing extremely groovy music that feels like sunshine and a time so good you don’t even have to think about it, it just is. this is highlighted in songs like shotput, which reminded me a lot of justin timberlake with a touch of pharrell in the production. the lyrics match with the dancing acoustics and light lyrics of falling in love, fluttering with that excitement and surrealism.

i had no idea he made a song for the film anyone but you, a track with the same name. it’s really dreamy and softly romantic. rocky carries the energy of a day without any clouds, and a feeling that makes me wish i had access to a trampoline to jump around on. the opening line is pretty fun too. there’s a sample of marvin gaye’s i heard it through the grapevine on window that feels like home to me.

still woozy has a great discography for the time of year where i am, spring going into summer. there’s some psych and r&b elements here every now and again, great beats, and colorful production surrounded by relatable themes within the lyrics.

it was something else watching sven performing for the first time since his music is more so on the chill side. he had SO much energy. i’m glad that i’ve gotten to know still woozy and the accompanying band, because they are all literal sunshine and flowers. it’s all right up my alley.

coachella weekend 2 day 3

man, it’s almost over.

i’m trying not to get too sad though because i’m watching shaboozey first. love the brown suit. im thinking his set will be better this weekend, he was probably plagued with nerves last weekend, but was still a great set overall. he’s already interacting with the crowd more and i couldn’t be smiling harder.

holy shit i’m soooo happy! this song usually has me in tears. and i was sitting there, eating pizza with tears in my eyes. wow. and shaboozey got emotional thanking the crowd because it was bigger than last weekend. god i want to hug him so bad.

seeing him just have so much freaking fun and jumping around and smiling big just gave me the most amount of joy. i haven’t smiled harder at any set. i have to see shaboozey live one day!

the next must see rewatch: still woozy!!! out of everyone i’ve seen perform, i’ve been listening to still woozy the most post weekend 1. loveseat is a great album that i might do a review for. again has been on repeat. they’re all such flowers to me in that group.

if i’m able to, before they cut the stream, i’d like to watch their set for a 3rd time. sad they ended early.

i admire how much everyone hypes up dance music in the live reddit thread for the stream. it’s given me an opportunity to check out a lot of acts i wouldn’t have before, like salute. interplanetary criminal mixing in old school rap was so cool. i enjoyed seeing sammy virji smiling so much during his set.

keshi is a shock for me. never heard of him before but from the first song i was like woah. automatically downloaded say and a few others.

now it’s the last morning until next year. i’m sad lol.

hope tala was next on my list. unknowingly a good pick first thing in the morning. her voice is really pleasant. she kind of reminded me of umi when she was at coachella. fcukers had a cool vibe to them. i checked out rema after and he was also an unexpected surprised for me since i really enjoyed his set. love the giant sword too.

i went back for polo & pan’s full set. totally worth it, they’re so groovy and colorful musically. i couldn’t not see xg again and they are just as good this week as they were last week, if not better! sad there’s no howling again this week.

amyl & the sniffers are a group i need to look into, they seemed awesome.

i ended my coachella stream with a third rewatch of still woozy. i could watch this set a hundred more times and still have a good time. so we went out on a good note.

my favorite sets from the past two weekends are: lady gaga, green day, xg, still woozy, yo gabba gabba, shaboozey, djo, missy elliot, d4vd, ravyn lenae, megan thee stallion, charli xcx, clairo, glorilla, the marías.

i had such a good ass time streaming and i’m excited for next year too.

coachella weekend 2 day 2

we still here baby.

okay, the first thing on the list for tonight is ed sheeran. i’m not a regular when it comes to his music, he’s got a few songs that i like though. definitely interested to check out his set. i know he’s covering for fka twigs so the set time and stage had lots of people tripping out.

good thing yo gabba gabba is on the same stage, mojave, so i can stay right here on the stream. because there’s no way i wasn’t going to see yo gabba gabba again. i still had some of the most fun this entire two weekends of streaming watching yo gabba gabba and i stand by that wholeheartedly lmao.

i did realize they didn’t perform try it, you’ll like it and that made me sad. i am glad the mics are working much better this week. and the crowd is into it so that was awesome. thundercat’s song is so good.

rainbow connection was just as trippy as last week. weird al and portugal the man with dj lance, then i saw a carebear and flavor flav with thundercat’s bass and strawberry shortcake

and the fucking teletubbies.

this is the crossover i didn’t know that i needed.

i saw “aww” so loudly at one of the teletubbies hugging flavor flav twice. my heart???

i forgot about ed sheeran being at mojave because i went to the main stage and rewinded. i saw lady gaga and thought to myself im so glad that they kept the stream going pretty much all day so lots of people can enjoy the previous day’s sets much longer than last year.

oh my god at him using a looping machine. and it’s just him on stage! so much talent. especially ed giving a little tutorial lol. that was so cute. such a blast overall, happy bad habit was saved for last. ed did an amazing job.

charli xcx’s set is just as live as it was last week. loved how the message this week ended with it saying how about we give someone else their own shot at their version of brat summer, whatever that may be. as much as i’ll miss it, i respect the message. addison rae though………………………

also why were they showing enhypen during clairo’s set????? she was literally playing and they were showing them? what in the world lmao.

juna sounds just as good as the studio version. but then again clairo may have a hard time topping this song just in general for me personally.

enhypen were a lot of fun this week too. shout out to them for singing live.

it’s the next morning and i’m starting with green day again. i love the fact that flavor flav was on stage in the bunny suit lol. that girl was trying her hardest to get him off the stage lmao. he’s just there having a time and i’m glad he is. billie just knows how to work a crowd and it’s so much fun to see even at home.

i’m also really happy about the girl from the crowd he brought up to play the guitar. billie was fully like “this is your moment, have it” which was so cool for her. and she kept the guitar! what a time this set was.

i jammed to salute again before going to kaskade redux x idris. love idris elba and its the coolest thing to me that he took being a dj very serious. when actors go on side quests sometimes its really nice. jimmy eat world had lots of energy there and i stuck around to rewatch t-pain.

i did peak around at a few more sets before taking a break for tonight. all i know is when still woozy comes on i’m going to be seated. can’t wait.

coachella weekend 2 day 1

time for weekend 2!

i have a specific mission for today: marina.

i kept hearing so many great things about her set last weekend and i only got to see all of two seconds of it since friday was stacked. but i’m definitely showing up today.

tyla is bringing it this week!! the hair and the outfit are both eating. i figured there were probably a lot of nerves going weekend 1, so she really settled in for weekend 2! she was also interacting with the crowd better this time around. i just wish her mic was better.

i think i should probably take some time to listen to marina after the weekend. one of the highlights of her set was seeing the people in the crowd who were singing along and having a good time. i can see why she was a highlight for those who see her last weekend! very solid performance. cupid’s girl is sooo catchy and an automatic download for me.

i went over to benson boone since i’ve been seeing his name a lot in different chats for coachella. the grammys was the first time i had seen him perform anything, and i know this man lives and breathes f l i p p i n g. plus i said id check out his full set after watching his bohemian rhapsody cover last weekend.

i said “gah damn” when he lept out of the stage at the beginning of his set. this the type of time he on? well shit. i have a feeling im gonna be tired just watching him.

drunk in my mind? downloaded. i appreciated his speech about loss. much respect to him for telling everyone to put their phones down.

the casual flip off the piano and the cardboard cut out took me out.

before falling asleep i stopped by the marías and glorilla. maria’s dress? incredible, amazing my, show stopping etc.

saturday morning is mainly about rewatching a few sets. lady gaga was first, then ravyn lenae, djo, and d4vd! soooo excited to see these again. the chills came again when bloody mary started. so mad at the mic issues though, like come on man. as she said, the mic is ON. we just need it to work!

i love the way lady gaga dances. it’s so unique to her and it’s so well suited to her. it’s something else to watch her be entranced by the music. i just love it. i’m also glad her drummer had a moment to shine before killah, that guy is amazing. shadow of a man was great too.

so freaking happy to hear fool during this djo set. one of my favorites within a long list from decide. over at d4vd’s set he redeemed himself from the flip, but i feel bad. i thought to myself “can he get through this set without anything crazy happening” and he forgot some of the words to here with me. did i jinx him? if i did, oops. i apologize. i feel bad there’s no weekend 3 for another redemption arc lol. he still sounded really good live this week.

i went to check out artemas next. if i have time, i definitely want to see kneecap too. i love how vocal they are about palestine. i really like what im hearing from the first song alone at artemas. i didn’t know they sung i like the way you kiss me. seriously hoping the stream doesn’t cut out too soon. there’s a little bit of something here that reminds me of the neighbourhood, but with a little bit of the earlier stuff the weeknd used to do. i’m intrigued.

really enjoyed artemas set more than i thought, so many bangers. i downloaded most of everything from it too. after i went to ag cook after seeing kneecap isn’t even on the streaming schedule anymore ?? wtf. i know they usually don’t show one stage and vice versa for weekends 1 and 2 but wow.

at ag’s set, starting off with the von dutch remix had me on a high. that crowd wasn’t screaming loud enough for kesha. also, this whole time, i thought yeat was yeek and was confused why he wasn’t singing. i’ll see myself out now.

i did enjoy each of the sets i watched earlier for day 1 of the second week! there were a lot of sets that were well improved from this week, but the energy overall was even better this time.

coachella 2025 day 3 weekend 1 thoughts:

day threeeeee.

it’s gonna be another packed one just like friday into saturday morning, but i’m ready for it.

i had a little pep talk with myself about being strategic in the sets i want to see since i’m guessing the stream will be cut a little bit earlier on monday morning.

shaboozey starts off the stream tonight. hearing let it burn might make me cry, as it sometimes does. i’m so freaking happy about all the success he’s been receiving lately. he’s from va and he’s got a clear vision of what he wants to say in his music. i’m just so happy for him. i genuinely almost cried at his set, the black boy joy was screaming out of him. i am sad he didn’t perform let it burn, but im glad we got annabelle. maybe next week?

i think this still woozy set might be one of the highlights of my weekend. how the fuck did he do some much jumping around and not sound tired nearly at all???? i need that type of energy in my life. i also really loved how the band members save for the drummer were kind of running around the stage too. such a good vibe going at this set that it was infectious. i was smiling the whole time.

we’re making our way down this list with amaarae being next! she just walked onto the stage like a whole ass queen. damn. good shit already. especially starting off with angels in tibet. hearing her lower i guess normal register was pretty different but i liked it. it was like getting to know a different side of amaarae since this was my first time seeing her perform. sad we didn’t get a full sad girlz luv money performance but princess going digital was great.

i saw jennie and apparently basement jaxx started late?

i’m glad the rap girlies are doing great at coachella this year. megan the stallion looked sooo good and i’m beyond happy she performed plan b, one of my more recent faves from megan. reminds me a lot of lil kim. i’ll never get tired of hearing wanna be and seeing queen latifah, victoria monet, and ciara was a great surprise. happy to see megan on the main stage.

xg was so good. girl gvng live with the electric guitars >>>> the feeling of being proud also extended itself to them. i was disappointed they didn’t do a full performance of howl though.

next on the list was polo & pan as i raced against the time of whenever the stream would end for the day. i stared to seriously doubt if id be able to see post malone today. if not, no worries. there’s always this upcoming weekend! polo & pan are so groovy and mystical. the anxiety of missing posty’s set did kick in, so i did leave their set a little early. i can catch the full thing this weekend.

post was so casual starting off his set it made me laugh . i am interested to see what songs he’ll choose for his set given his shift in genre, but starting with texas tea was pretty cool. then we went into wow with a slight country feel to it. interesting.

i also left his set a little early to catch beabadoobe. man i really wish i knew what time the stream was being cut. anyway, loved the design of her set so much, it went really well with her pink guitar. it was very early 2000s so i was jamming even though i’m just now getting into beabadoobe. for some reason a few of the songs i’ve heard sound like something that would be on charmed?

i kept seeing how good of a set ginger root had. i stopped there for a minute and was can see why they were getting high praises. very cool. i went to basement jaxx right after and that was pretty hype. a good set to leave this past weekend off.

i think friday was my favorite day overall. for this week off the top of my head, my favorite sets were lady gaga, charli xcx, clairo, still woozy, ravyn lenae, d4vd, djo, yo gabba gabba, missy elliot, xg, & the marías.

i do have a lot that i want to see again this upcoming weekend, while leaving a good amount of room for artists that i should check out weekend 2!
