Headcanon: after so much continental shifting and natural and man-made disasters there are simply not enough natural gemstones and precious metals available to meet demand, so most of district one's jewels are lab created. True luxuries from nature fetch a much higher price, being available only to the extremely lucky. Onyx himself has a small hoard of his father's natural gems and pearls that he refuses to sell for any reason.

Greed

Greed: a headcanon about something your character hordes or collects

I mentioned it earlier, but the only thing Onyx really holds on to is the true gemstones and pearls his father had for his business. No matter how valuable they are he can’t bring himself to part with his father’s most valuable possessions. They hold too much sentimental value to think of selling and they don’t need the money anyways with his Victor’s pay and the money from being sold to the Capitolites.

Pride

Pride: a headcanon about something your character is a bit cocky about

Onyx is a bit prideful about his ability to handle a range of weapons. He as trained to be a career of course, chosen with a handful of others to represent his District in the Games. He poured himself into it and really endeavored to master as many combat styles and weapon as possible. He is equally as at home with a sword, or a spear, or a staff, or a set of throwing knives, etc. Later in life he learned to handle a gun adeptly and found himself to be a rather good marksman. It has served him well during the rebellion as well, making hi particularly useful as a combat trainer and he is proud of every achievement it has brought him.
