So my best friend finally got into Dragon Age: Origins, and she's reaaally into the RP aspect of it (not surprising, giving that we met through RP), so while we were discussing why her Grey Warden is doing summoning side quest in the Tower, we joked around about lady Cousland being high from lyrium, and an absolutely goofiest idea appeared in my head, which I have to share:

"We were on a quest of sorts. A quest that took us to Starfall... our true destination was marriage."
Day 5 | What Could Have Been | Elia Week 2025 ☀️
While Oberyn never mentioned who this potential suitor for Elia was, I think it is logical to assume it was Arthur and Ashara’s older brother. In this "What if" scenario, Elia marries the heir of Starfall instead of Prince Rhaegar. This stunning commission was done by giogiove.

My man did all this but never thought Mystery will start barking out of jealousy... Imagine the crashout if someone recorded it.
what jinu allegedly did in canon for saja boys to become successful:
recruit four demon members and somehow convince them to join his boyband BEFORE getting Gwi-Ma's approval
taught them how to do different, but synchronized poses on cue
watch over and learn the evolution of modern kpop music, culture, fashion, and fandom
song lyricist & choreographer where he wrote (atleast) two singles and planned every move and expression.
made sure some of the choreo was memorable and easy enough to replicate and go trending
design brand collaterals like the soda cans, billboards, train displays, posters, ad videos, light sticks, oh and the logo too
basically a social media manager to create, edit, and schedule their social media posts
plan a photo and video shoot with the saja boys
record a studio version of soda pop and release it on streaming platforms
publicist where he basically booked them to the variety show, created a PR campaign and all to create hype for their first debut show in public to have some audience (the huntrix girls noted that there were more people than usual in the area before the saja boys' first performance)
gave the boys PR training
booked an entire stadium for the midnight concert
did a kpop boyband bootcamp to wrangle four demons into becoming the perfect idol to act, sing and dance
probably did a 1on1 for each saja boy too to create and establish their character
—all so he can forget his shame and memories

not to post even more Villains Discourse on main but it really bugs me how people read giving villains tragic backstories as inherently excusing their actions and/or demonizing trauma survivors.
the actual message of Tragic Villains is (almost) always “people who are never taught or given any healthy, constructive outlets for their emotions will often find unhealthy, destructive outlets.” it’s that people who are traumatized and never learn how to cope with that trauma can become a danger to themselves and others. the message isn’t trauma makes you evil!!!!” or “genocide is okay if you’ve been sad before!!!!” it’s “people need compassion and help to recover from trauma instead of becoming increasingly angry and harming themselves and others in the process.”
this site takes an alarmingly behaviorist and punitive approach to everything and it’s literally the most annoying thing. y’all have this concept that “if we just punish people hard enough, if we just scare them enough, if we just make them feel guilty enough.” that people just Do Bad Things Because They Do Bad Things, I Guess, and Because We Didn’t Threaten Them And Shame Them Enough. but humans are an innately social species. at our very core, we need compassion and kindness. we need healthy relationships with other humans.
you can keep looking at traumatized villains and being like “haha this dumb pathetic sadboi thinks murder is okay because his parents died” but as a survivor myself, unaddressed/untreated trauma absolutely can make you ragey and destructive. i was lucky enough to have support and eventually get the treatment i needed. but it’s not hard at all for me to imagine how, if that hadn’t been the case, that could’ve been me. obviously not on a movie-villain scale like murder or war crimes, but it’s so irritating as someone whose trauma has always manifested as anger to watch people on this site be like “this is just bad writing!!! real survivors/good survivors don’t end up like that the writers just hate survivors and want the audience to condone murder!”

do you see yourself making more web weaves?! (even if theyre just for maysilee i will be SAT!!!!😭 i love them!)
Hmm, maybe? To be honest, my Maysilee web weave was inspired specifically by the last quote I used in there, so maybe, if the inspiration strikes again, I might try doing another one, not for Maysilee specifically.

honestly so many of my favourite characters ever are very limited ones and/or very over hated and misunderstood by the fandoms! so im used to it! but im glad that theres accounts like Yours that really show the appreciation they deserve!!! im so excited to meet maysilee omg.
Hah, can't say I'm a stranger to choosing almost non-entities as my favs as well! Probably why I like to talk about them as much, as I do with Maysilee. I'm glad my blog brought you some joy before you meet Maysilee yourself 💖

hey! ive been reading some of your blog and im loving some of your takes! i really love your maysilee web weave, i havent read the book yet because i cant afford it right now but from what i know shes definitely my favourite character of the whole HG universe! idk i just wanted to say hi! i think your web weave was great!
I had a really long and stressful day today, and now you made it better, Anon 🥺💖 Thank you 👉👈
Also, even with me not enjoying like 90% of SotR, Maysilee definitely was THEE bright spot of the book for me, and my main reason to start rambling here, so I hope you won't be disappointed about her presence, even if it's limited!

I know a writer confirmed recently that Celine did indeed kill Rumi's mom by accident, although they don't want to share more in case they get a chance to explore it in a sequel, but honestly, I think this concept is actually more interesting?
It would complete Sunlight Sisters' role as a narrative foil to Huntrix, with their bond twisting and corrupting to the point when they kill one another for whatever reason, while Huntrix stick through thick and thin.
Okay, I've seen some people suggesr Celine killed Rumi's mother (or sometimes just her father) becuase of the demon fucking, but like.
Nah.
Look at how convinced she is that the girls wouldn't accept Rumi.
Look at how scared she is of the patterns- of what they represent, yeah, but of anyone seeing them.
Her first thought when she sees Rumi in the tree scene is that they can come up with something to hide it from the other hunters.
And the conspicuous lack of information about the third Sunshine Sister...
I think Rumi's mother was killed by another member of her band.
I don't think it was Celine.
And I think there is a reason Rumi knows Celine has it in her, to kill someone she cares about.

So I noticed something. Don't know if I'm onto something, or if I've just fallen victim to my fever dreams. But hear me out.
Rumi's mother was a member of the Sunlight Sisters, to be specific, she was the one with the braid, just like Rumi.

At first, it's easy to imagine that's because she's trying to emulate her mother and live up to her legacy as a popstar and huntress. It wouldn't be surprising if she braided her hair in her honour.
But then you remember, who raised Rumi? That's right, Celine.
I don't have the screenshots for it, so I could be mistaken, but if memory serves, it was Celine who was braiding her hair back when she was a child. It was Celine who ultimately chose her and Mira and Zoey as the next huntresses and helped them raise to fame to achieve their goals.

So what if the reason Rumi wears a braid is because Celine is the one desperate to keep her mother's memory alive, even if it means neglecting who Rumi is as her own person?
The film never really dwells on the true extent of her hatred of demons and how it affected her relationship with Rumi beyond ruining her self-esteem and causing all of her internalised hatred. Maybe Celine doesn't hate demons just because it's her job, but because they took Rumi's mother away from them. Maybe her falling in love with Rumi's demon father is what broke the Sunlight Sisters up.
Maybe, the reason she styles Rumi's hair into a braid and why she refuses to acknowledge her nature as a half demon is because she's purposely suppressing the idea of Rumi as her own person, separate from her mother.
Maybe all Celine wanted all along was to hold onto the memory of Rumi's mother, even if it meant refusing to accept her daughter, whom she swore to protect, for who she is.

I think people who consider aromanticism as "basically straight" underestimate how noticeable absence can be to those around you.
Whether you're a kid in school with classmates who won't take "no one" as an answer to who you have a crush on or an adult whose coworkers have picked up on the fact that you've never mentioned a romantic partner; after enough time, a lack or insufficient amount of romantic interest will raise the antennae of friends, family, coworkers, etc... They will notice and they will speculate and they will ask.
It is impossible to meet the societal bar for straightness through inaction.

Finally someone with a sane take about this scene. It's very clear that Celine is a deeply flawed individual who caused Rumi much pain, but people act as if she wasn't also groomed into the belief that all demons are evil, and she probably has many conflicted feelings about Rumi being half-demon herself.
I know it's easy for us, viewers, to know that demons are not all one-dimensional evil, and we empathize with Rumi especially because the half-demon thing can very easily serve as a stand-in for some real life issues, but it's not like Celine had any way of learning how that works, and that demons are not always 100% evil. We don't even know, what happened between Rumi's parents, whether it was genuine secret affair, or was her dad sent by Gwi-Ma to seduce Rumi's mum and weaken the Sunlight Sisters. Maybe the dad was even a human first, and Gwi-Ma tried to reach the Sisters through him, by whispering into his ear and convincing him to strike a deal - this way, Celine's fears would be even more understandable, as she already saw a regular human being transforming into demon.
With all that said - did Celine handled raising Rumi well? No. Did she handle this scene well? Absolutely no. But I think she's the biggest victim of the limitations of the runtime, because her entire concept is too complex to be carried out in two scenes.
KPOP DEMON HUNTERS SPOILERS
this entire scene crushed me i'll be honest
Both of them swore to protect something. For Rumi, it's Huntrix and the people (following her duty as a huntress). For Celine, it is what is left of Rumi's mother; her daughter, and her legacy as a huntress. Celine seems to be the only surviving member of the prior trio of huntresses, and so the responsibility of seeking out and training new members of the triad to maintain the Honmoon, as well as taking care of the daughter she unintentionally left behind, fell to her.
Despite promising to protect and care for her, she hesitates to cup her face and give her the comfort she clearly needs. Everything she was taught tells her that demons are a pest to be eradicated, and so she can't bring herself to hold her despite how much she cares. She only holds her first when she brings her to her feet, and again when she covers up her demon markings with her coat.
When Rumi stands up, she holds her hand out defensively. While she loves and cares for her, she's also afraid of a part of what she is: a demon. It was instinct in the same way she first drew her weapon upon hearing Rumi approach her from behind in the beginning of this scene.
For a second, Celine does actually look at Rumi before closing her eyes again. She can't bring herself to look at her because, to her, doing so would mean accepting what Rumi truly is. Prior to this, she had also "closed her eyes" in a way to Rumi's true nature by making her hide her demonic markings.
Rumi picks up on this. Celine keeps her eyes closed as if trying to separate the sight in front of her from the version of Rumi that she can accept, however, that hurts Rumi even further because her demonic side is just as much of a part of her as her human side is. Celine, what is left of her family after her friends drew their weapons on her, refusing to acknowledge it only causes her to feel more isolated.
Celine seems to be talking more to herself than to Rumi, repeating something she'd likely been told when she was younger. She passes this same mantra down onto Rumi, Zoey, and Mira, thinking that it would keep them safe and allow them to fulfill their duties as huntresses.
Instead, it isolates them from the ones they care about the most.
