Before, Sara would’ve felt pity for their current circumstances. This wasn’t Jack’s fault. He was a victim of the program, the same way she was. But that was before she’d spent a year in hell and came back wrong. Before she came out of the Lazarus pit with part of herself missing. It’s hard not to see the cynical side of things. Which is why her scathing comment came out so effortlessly. And it’s also why she’s looking at him with a look of apathy and annoyance.

“ I don’t need anything from you. Not anymore. And never again. You never should’ve gotten on this ship. ” And she never should’ve started talking to him. The steely silence had been working just fine for her, once Rip figured out the children needed to be separated. It helped to have two killers on board; that way, in case one of them killed the other, there was a spare.

“Pure muscle… Right. Felicity might have mentioned that had something to do with a salmon ladder…” Kara shared, wondering if she’d ever get to see Sara in action. Somehow she suspected that the girl could pull it off better than Oliver, despite Felicity’s claims that it was a close competition. “I guess I do have to call you one of these days.”

When Sara gave the green light, Kara tightened her grip around the girl and nodded. “Up, up and away then,” she said before taking both of them to the rooftop in a quick swoosh. Her landing was gentle and just as she pulled away, her ears picked up something going off in the level below them.

“We’ve definitely got company. Come on,” she instructed as she pulled the roof access door open, only to break the knob off while she did so. “Uh, I don’t suppose anyone would miss a door knob,” she said sheepishly before tossing it aside and gestured for Sara to lead the way down, “After you.”

“ She told you about the salmon ladder? ” Sara grinned at the revelation. She’d have to bug Felicity about that later. It felt less like a Sara can do that too, and more like out right bragging. Or like one of Felicity’s roundabout ways of playing matchmaker. There was either a thank you or a good amount of poking fun in Felicity’s future. More than likely, it was going to be both. Especially if it meant Kara was going to call her.

Sara tried to contain herself when they took off, but she couldn’t help the embarrassing squeak from escaping her lips. She’d flown before. Normally she was inside of something, though, and not holding on to a person for a dear life. When they land, she unfurled from Kara with a slightly shaky grip.

At least she got a chance to get her feet under her, figuratively speaking. “ I’d be happy to, ” she responded, pulling her baton out and heading through the door.
