Happy International Men's Day, 2022;

To the men who work their arses off for their loved ones

To the men who fought their demons every day, some days being better than others

To the men who light up when they come home and their kids are rushing to them

To the men who support and love their partners in all the ways they know how (and vice versa)

To the men who are struggling, and still trying

To the men who don't have support, because they don't fit the "status quo"

To the men that are never shown gratitude or kindness because "why should they?"

To the men who have been hurt, beaten and bruised but it still wasn't enough for people to help them

I'm sitting here, sick and laying in front of a blazing fire with my oldest son "taking care of me" while his Papa entertains the other three kiddos as well as cooking dinner and I'm truly one blessed woman to have my husband and our children 💚💚💚💚

Some of you grew up with a dad who wasn't there for you. He might not have been there at all. He might have been abusive. He might not have been been there for you like he should have and you're trying to compensate now that you have kids of your own. You want to be the dad you never had

Some of you are first time dad's. It's nerve-wracking. It's stressful. You keep hearing about how if you do this or say that you'll mess your kid up. You don't want that. You want to ensure that they know they can come to you about anything

Some of you are single dad's. You feel like you're about to crack under the pressure. You be may hurt because of how your relationship ended. You may be feeling overwhelmed and you might not have anyone there for you but you're trying to be there for your kids

Some of you are struggling with mental illness. You can't be the dad you want to be and that makes you feel guilty. You feel like you're letting your kids down

Some of you are trying to be better dad's. You went through a period where you repeated a circle or just weren't the kind of dad you should have been

You might be struggling because you're striving to be perfect. Or you just feel like a failure.

It's okay. Take a deep breath.

You aren't a perfect dad. You'll never be a perfect dad

But that's okay

Your kids don't need a perfect dad

They need a dad is that is loving, encouraging and there for them
