TRAILBLAZING

Animal Companions
Not more than 48 hours after blazing the new trail from Earthdance to West Cummington, Victor and I set out to hike it for the first time. We found immediate delight as we set out and came across the tracks of a deer that had also taken the trail not so long before us. As we hiked the 1.5 miles, we had to just smile the whole way, as the tracks continued up the entire length of the trail. Last night I went to sleep dreaming of all the non-humans who will also use and get to know this trail, and the stories and experiences they will have and share with each other as well.

Oracle - Etymology
oracle (n.) late 14c., "a message from a god, expressed by divine inspiration," from Old French oracle "temple, house of prayer; oracle" (12c.) and directly from Latin oraculum"divine announcement, oracle; place where oracles are given," from orare "pray, plead" (see orator), with material instrumental suffix -culo-. In antiquity, "the agency or medium of a god," also "the place where such divine utterances were given." This sense is attested in English from c.1400.

DAWN WALK
This morning I awoke at 5:00am to join the Home Project group members for a slow dawn-walk. We set off from the dormitory at 6:00am in silence and made our way through the woods at a snail's pace. The score was minimal -- if you hear an interesting sound, make a gesture that brings the group's attention to the direction of the sound. The temperature was -10 celsius (14 F), and the moon was outlasting the last few stars as the light shifted from pre-dawn to dawn. It took us 40 minutes to arrive at the main entrance to Earthdance, where we lingered for a few last cold minutes, watching and listening to the early morning hoopla of robins, chickadees, and crows greeting the new morning amongst the apple trees.

Can we turn everything we have done thus far into source material? Can we find the underbelly and infuse it with meaning? Can we enter performance and connect with communities in a fully embodied way?

Can we explore the roots to shape the blossoms?

Can we shift, settle, and fuse with the space?

The Forest of the Mind
The journey to enlightenment is paved by those we look to for guidance. Oracles, who speak in many and all languages, modes, frequencies, lead us in directions that are always forward. Whether it is a false Oracle, whose life lessons teach us what not to do, or the true Oracle that has shown their light in the right direction to enlightenment. Which do we follow, when, and why?
This is the journey of the mind, the roads traveled, the roads ahead. We all travel the same path, at different speeds, gaits, frequencies, levels above and below Truth. Truth is a filament much in the same way quantum mechanics and theory operate on the existence of filament. Picture your life as a filament and your energy arc-ing through.

We have entered the woods, in body, and today in mind.
What is Oracle?
Where do we search for answers? How is divine purpose revealed? Can we build bridges with the land, our ancestry, our community, the unknown, and ourselves? Can we journey to find attentive awareness, empathetic presence, authentic connection, and profound discovery?

Before and after the bridge build. It took seven people struggling with (2) 12 ft long 2" x 12" boards carried an unknown distance into, at times,  thigh-high snow. We then went beyond to the Hemlock Grove, the lookout and a special place of reverence to the community along the Path. More to come...

The Architecture of Life
Today, we begin building bridges. We'll connect land, and each other through getting in touch with our own sources of what makes us who we are. the threads in the fabric. I have heard the word "Path" used conceptually by many different people here so far. I see a curatorial theme, and personal themes as well throughout. My current work at home involves looking at Path as a metaphor, in terms of Light and Shadow. This is a zeitgeist.
