1/14/25:

q: how would you describe hyeseong to your teammates?

a: i want to say he's kind of like park jisung who played in manchester united.

q: do you mean a player who doesn't take the spotlight but still supports others?

a: [nodding] he joined an amazing team, and i think he'll fit in really well. he's already a player who's so great that I can't say anything about him, so that's how I want to describe him.

he described hyeseong as being a better player than him since high school and "i only have good memories of playing with him and spending time with him. i'm so happy and amazed to be playing in the states like this."

6/22/20:

(on hyeseong becoming the second youngest player in the kbo to hit for the cycle) "actually, i didn't feel jealous. rather, i felt proud. when i was in high school, hyeseong was almost like a god. he was much better than me at baseball and had great skills."

"he has defensive skills that can best be described with the word 'art'. whenever i see it i can only feel admiration, with his base running as well. if you watch his batting and running, he's really fast. i'm grateful because he works so hard with base running. as with his personality, he works out so hard. i want to learn the diligence that hyeseong has."

(on hyeseong trying to go to the mlb) "i think he'll see good results for sure. in the 7 years [i was in the kbo] there were players who work hard, but i've never seen someone who is so diligent and only focuses on one goal once they set their sights on it like hyeseong. this time hyeseong has set his sights on a goal so i trust that there will be a good outcome for sure. i just hope he doesn't get injured."
