I love the violent hatred in this image
#i have a job interview later today#they called to schedule it yesterday#and they're making me do a data analysis and a 15 minute presentation for sample data they sent last night???#genuinely fucking baffling#like you haven't even hired me why the fuck are you making me do your work for you#highly unlikely I'll take the job now even if they do offer it's just all such a waste of time

Reblog and put in the tags something that is usually considered “bad” or “lazy” writing, and possibly even for good reason, but you can’t help but enjoy anyways.

reminder that if you ever buy wool yarn secondhand you should put it in a plastic bag in the freezer for a week, let it thaw 24 hours, then refreeze another week. this makes sure that if there are any moths or pests they are killed by the first freeze, and the remaining eggs are lured to hatch by the thawing and then killed with the second freeze. until this process is complete you must keep the yarn isolated from your existing stash or you risk any infestation spreading. i buy a lot of wool yarn from thrift and antique shops and always do this and have never had a problem with moths or other bugs. if you buy wool sweaters or other wool things secondhand you should also do this just to be safe

genuine question — how is donating money going to help Palestinians if no food is going in? What is the money for?
Medicine, water, supplies, food, fuel (much of it black market being upsold at egregious prices) — these all cost money and pretty much all Palestinians in Gaza have no source of income now. It’s drops in the bucket compared to ending the siege and occupation but it’s one way to do at least something small to help. Others are in need of money to evacuate when the border opens again (which hopefully is asap…), tuition and supplies for school to continue studies despite it all. Another fund is focused on trying to rebuild farmlands in Gaza to get food again that way.
I can’t tell anyone what to do with their money but I don’t think this mindset of “well nothings going in so we can’t help” is helpful for people on the ground who are the ones saying that donations can and do help them survive.

A little sliver of good news from southern Arizona:
"TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The Tucson City Council voted unanimously to kill Project Blue, a large data center proposed for land near I-10 and Houghton.
Council members cited public opposition to the proposal, and concerns that the project would use far too much water and electricity to be appropriate in Tucson’s fragile desert environment.
Pima County Supervisors approved selling about 290 acres of the land for the project but to move forward Tucson City Council had to agree to annex the land, and to allow Tucson’s water utility to supply water to the project.
Instead of approving those moves, the Council ordered city staff to stop all work with Project Blue developers and instead start work on new regulations to govern any new data centers planned for the city."
Community action works! Never stop fighting!!

hello! i hope ur having a good day/night! i was wondering if you have any recommendations for beginner patterns in general that could hone skill and aren't too difficult. i started out by practising flowers and i'm currently working on a design with the flowers printed for me, but i'd like to try doing other kinds of practising too, because i want to be able to stitch words or animals one day. no worries if not! thank you and have a good one!!
Hey there! Pulling my answers from a previous ask here, but I like DMC's free patterns plenty fine. There's a list of ones I hand out to beginners under the cut at the end of this post. For getting good at linework you should just practice a lot of linework. Think of it like inking vs painting. The skills carry over to a degree but it's not unusual for an artist to have a preference for their style and even to specialize in one vs the other. Find some coloring book pages and practice your lines. Backstitch, stem stitch, try to make it look crisp as you can.
Links to patterns under the cut:
Blue Hill - wreath with blue flowers
Etoile Constellation - celestial star/moon/sun tableau. Ignore the call for etoile threads tbh and just use the number codes for the plain colors
Etoile Magic Star - tri-toned shooting star. Ignore the call for etoile threads tbh and just use the number codes for the plain colors
Strawberries - a scattered ditzy design with strawberries, leaves, and flowers
Lemons - a scattered ditzy design with lemons and sprigs of flowers and leaves
Oranges - a scattered ditzy design with whole oranges, orange slices, and sprigs of leaves
Raspberries and Roses - a scattered ditzy design with raspberries, roses, leaves, and flower bits
Toadstool - an amanita mushroom scene. This one's really fucking popular online, you see it a lot.
Jellyfish - uses a variety of stitches to give texture to the titular sealife
Octopus - uses a variety of stitches to give texture to the titular sealife
Seahorse - uses a variety of stitches to give texture to the titular sealife
Shrimp - uses a variety of stitches to give texture to the titular sealife
An Hee Jin, Toucan - cute lil toucan on a branch with leaves and flowers
Flying Snakes - snakes but theyre circus performers. lean into the whimsy. life is short.
Woodland Bear - forest scene with a bear. Lots of french knots for the trees, still a beginner pattern. Get that practice in.

You should be starting a recipe book. I don't give a shit if you're only 20-years-old. The modern web is rotting away bit by bit before our very eyes. You have no idea when that indie mom blog is going down or when Pinterest will remove that recipe. Copy it down in a notebook, physically or digitally. Save it somewhere only you can remove it. Trust me, looking for a recipe only to find out it's been wiped off the internet is so fucking sad. I've learned my lesson one too many times.
