yeah sorry bros i think prismic wins again
Tumblr media
may this be it for our quest to find the perfect cms to integrate with our sveltekit project :))
oreohive stack more or less finalised...? finally?
on a serious note, though, idk... i just found prismic so much easier to interface with iirc... the slices all felt a little pre-built for me at first, but ultimately we can mod them and tweak them to our liking
with payload cms it's kind of felt more like 'ok here's an engine, now go build a car', and having to hook it up with mongodb and everything has honestly been a bit of a ballache for someone who has virtually no idea what they're doing lmfao
i think with their excellent documentation and virtually braindead-simple ux choices they have their target audience narrowed down, perhaps to someone like myself
i'm sure payload cms is based asf, especially given what i've seen of their social media presences (lmao), but i just don't really think it's for me lol
either way, prismic time once again. wish me luck

we have a ko-fi now! check it out! https://ko-fi.com/oreohive
in other, perhaps more exciting news, i'm now finally getting my home server set up again! getting my nas back up and running should make our development efforts drastically easier. in addition, i'm hoping to soon finally get the cms situation wrapped up, so i can finally start making content! it's been a long time coming, but we're polishing the rough edges now! we're coming!

i made a tutorial / article about the basic, core concepts of Git and using GitHub for novice devs who are total version control beginners!
https://dev.to/dopreo/okay-but-what-the-hell-is-a-git-22ne
i'd really appreciate it if you checked it out; even if you're already familiar with git, i'd love to hear your feedback :))
also, if you're not familiar with git at all, or even software dev in general, i'd especially love to hear your feedback!! is there anything i could maybe explain better or reword? <3
thank you all who decide to take a peek :D

oreohive devlog 2025-01-24
today i decided to sunset all of the separate git repos in favour of a new solution, in which the entire oreohive web project will be consolidated into one, single repo. while it was initially decided to split off all subdomains and the like into separate repositories, i'm merging our very thinly-spread development resources and energies in hopes that progress made in one project will help all others along. a rising tide lifts all ships, after all. side note, why does windows have to be so crap? there is no reason at all that trying to take a screen snip should freeze up my entire desktop and have me press Ctrl+Alt+Del to be able to do anything again. i wish more of these 'anti-big-tech-companies' / 'anti-ai' folks would put their mice where their mouths are and give linux a chance.

*beep boop* is this thing on?!?
yo. we're the oreohive. we're here to spread colour and self-expression. we're here because we don't think the internet needs to be scary. right now, we're working really hard as an incredibly small group of individuals (right now with just one real developer) to build a bunch of online resources and docs for you, for the world, for free.
we're in super early, baby stages right now, but we can't wait to share more with you. - the bees

it might be worthy of note that trying to access any of our resources right now will likely result in lots of 404s or other errors. as of typing this, we don't recommend trying it just yet. while we get our frameworks set up, we're putting little in the way of letting people have a poke around, but we're not hosting our content there yet. things are still super under construction and proof-of-concept right now, and this includes anything public you'll find right now.
