I've been great! School's tiring but usually it's a good tired. Offline classes make reality feel real again (I was just rotting on my phone during the times of online classes). I've also made good progress on my WIP, got an idea for a side WIP, fell in love with art and humans again, so all is well

Normalize going into people’s ask boxes and ask them random ass questions.

Tumblr used to be so much fun with all the asks (anonymous or otherwise), and we need to bring those back, especially now that we finally have a half-decent blocking feature in place.

Ask people things! Message them! Don’t let tumblr inbox die! It’s one of the features that made tumblr tumblr.

Idk if anyone else has pointed this out but this season has 4 instances of duets where one person wrote the song and their counterpart jumps in by reading the song:

Gina writes a song, Ricky jumps in

Ashlyn writes a song, Maddox jumps in

Seb writes a song, Carlos jumps in

These are all explicitly romantic pairings then:

I can’t look at this pattern and not think that it wasn’t intentional. They knew exactly what they’re doing right??

I think it's funny that for for S4 of HSMTMTS, the main characters are dealing with problems like "I can't decide which Ivy League school to go to" or "I can't decide between taking a once in a lifetime chance to be a famous movie star or staying with my high school boyfriend of like 3 months," or “I haven’t thought about college at all but my drama teacher somehow got me in anyway,” meanwhile EJ has been disinherited by his family and has to work multiple jobs to support himself and the show doesn't see that as interesting enough to warrant anything more than one line.

Like, EJ's problems are now on a whole different level than any other character, including S1 EJ, and Tim doesn't even seem to realize it.

when you look back at all the crap EJ was put through in seasons 1-3 and how much he's GROWN wowowwow

s4 EJ is the most real character in my opinion, his happy ending isnt rainbows and unicorns and someone to kiss when things go wrong, its him just finding his happiness and freedom on his own terms and I love that for him.

ten things that made me extremely happy in regards to ej caswells season four storyline:

him getting away from his father and becoming someone who is proud of himself without the need for validation from a toxic source

he has friends! and a girlfriend! and activities! and he isn’t wallowing in self pity like i assumed!

letting him clock richard bowen one last time

acknowledging that even though portwell wasn’t forever, it was something that was necessary for both parties and that both of them learned so much from each other

the fact that gina finally understands why he did those things last summer, and does understand that he wasn’t malicious in intentions. but at the same time letting ej still own up to the fact that he was in the wrong, showcasing his beautiful character development.

finally giving him a direction for the future, the literal only thing he’s been trying to find the entire show.

now that the show is over for good I just gotta say

this show means so much to me and hase since I discovered it in 2021. that time in my life was stressful and hard to get through and through hsmtmts I met some really amazing people on the hsmtmts discord server (at the time there were only 2 servers for the show and one was dead so)

that said, throughout seasons 2 and 3 where some questionable things happened, I looked forward to every Friday (then Wednesday) just because of how fun it was to chat and interact with these people on the server. it was so fun to have inside jokes and playful ship wars and all that. it sounds silly but it made me really happy to have these friends through a screen where the only thing we had in common is loving this show.

I'm such a different person to who I was when I started watching it but every time I rewatch season 1 (10 times and counting y'all) I get transported back and somehow only recall the best parts of that time, the nostalgia from that era overrides the worst and I'm so grateful for that.

I'm so grateful for this show for letting me live out the theatre kid dream I could never sustain irl. thanks to this show I started posting my writing online too, which has opened up a lot more for me too.

ik I didn't always interact with y'all but you deserve a mention because during the craziness of season 2 and 3 y'all were so hilarious and always had something to say. to me it felt like a proper fandom community on there and I only wish I reached out and interacted more in the past

I'm so happy that this show exists even if I would totally rewrite a lot of things that happened (for example make season 2 and 3 have the vibes that season 1 and now season 4 have, more mature and inclusive of all characters, etc).
