Ive done some more thinking on Jim lately and I believe he has brain damage. Like, just a little bit. Hes just. Not really all there sometimes its seems. He doesnt take things as seriously as everyone else(tho he does take it seriously in his own way) and he just seems to so relaxed and kinda spacey and all that. Also balance issues are a thing with brain damage. Also when he was younger before the fall, I headcanon that he was a serious kid and then after the fall he turned into more of the relaxed guy we know as a result of the brain damage.

I have so many Oriship AUs that I came up with the idea of all the Jim's from my AUs end up in the canon dimension and O'Brien is stuck with a wacky harem of Jim's that are all madly in love with him and perfectly fine with sharing him with each other and he gets so embarrassed from all the attention they all give him but also he secretly loves it cuz he loves Jim and being surrounded by more Jim's, as annoying/bizarre as some of them can be, is basically like heaven to him

O'Brien always makes sure he's gentle with his touch and doesn't let his hands linger too long, meanwhile Jim is completely fine with tackling him out of nowhere at any given second

Being able to see Jim's cleavage for almost the entirety of that one episode really was a gift from above

My interpretation of Jim is vastly different from anything I've ever seen said by others in the fandom and I really dislike all other interpretations of Jim so please respect that while on my blog and maybe just don't mention your own headcanons about him to me at all please

Both Jim and O'Brien 100% agree on no wedding cuz Jim doesn't understand why its a thing in the first place, it just makes no logical sense to him and he sees no benefit to it, and O'Brien would be way too embarrassed by it no matter what. So they just go down to the courthouse and get the paperwork done and even that's still a bit embarrassing to O'Brien, but not nearly as much as the moment they get back in the car together, as a married couple. It's quiet between them, but Jim's really happy and Jim finally says "we're husbands now" and O'Brien's just thinking 'oh god oh fuck I'm actually a married man now and I have a husband and I really never saw this coming' and Jim leans over and kisses him and says "I do" and O'Brien's face burns up, but he's so incredibly ridiculously happy because he actually found someone that he's genuinely in love with and they're genuinely in love with him too and it's something he never imagined nor wanted until being with Jim and seriously falling in love with him and they're both just so happy to be married as awkward and anti-climatic as it is. But its the start of the rest of their lives together aaaaaaaahhhhhhh

Jim being homesick after a while of living in a city with O'Brien and sitting by the window and lamenting the fact that he has to watch cars go by instead of birds in a tree and small animals scampering on the ground and O'Brien finally noticing and asking him what's wrong and Jim says he misses being so close to nature and still doesn't fully understand how to handle living in a big city so O'Brien's first idea is visting his parents with Jim and them going on a hiking trip with O'Brien's dad and that helps a bit for a while but then that just makes Jim miss nature even more when they get back home so while Jim's away O'Brien fills the house with lots of small potted plants and when Jim comes home to see it he gets so excited and giddy and every day he takes care of each plant and O'Brien is absolutely in love with the way Jim infodumps about all the different plants and how Jim treats them like people and is just really happen to have some small pieces of nature so close to him again and and and and and and cjfncjcnckcn O'Brien would do anything for Jim and it makes my heart explode!!!!!

Domestic oriship is what I live for from now on. Being married in a house in Brazil not far from O'Brien's parents and both having jobs that don't make them go in for work most days and they just sit on the couch in the living room doing work from home. O'Brien on his laptop and Jim with a specimen collection spralled out on the table and sometimes Jim will just go on and on about the mineral content and the site it was found at and O'Brien will not understand most words he's saying but it's just nice to hear Jim sound so enthusiastic about it and actually want to tell O'Brien about his work and kfncifncjcbj he just loves to hear Jim's voice and the way Jim rambles on and on 😭

My preference is definitely Jim falling for O'Brien first, but I can't help but absolutely love the idea of O'Brien being hopelessly in love with a clueless Jim in a morosexual kinda way.

I feel like Jim being disabled is so easily forgotten because it's just his eye. He can still walk and run and talk and use his hands and see at least to some degree. And the anime never shows him facing any disadvantages due to missing an eye and I doubt the manga does either.

Like, if I put a hand over my right eye that alone changes so much for me and makes my field of view so small. Jim's been living with that small level of sight for years and actually facing the disadvantages of it. He has no depth perception to say the least. I'm sure over the years he's not only gotten used to it all but also learned how to adapt pretty well since we don't see him struggle in any way. But that doesn't mean there wouldn't still be lingering issues he faces.

I bet he still has some balance issues and depth perception related struggles he deals with. He may be adjusted to the depth issues but every once in a while he still knocks something over by accident. And perhaps without Karen on his back his balance issues get worse and he stumbles and bumps into things a lot easier. And if he doesn't hear you then approaching him from the right may surprise him.

Jim is disabled and that needs to be remembered even if we don't see it affecting him. And honestly, we don't really need to see it affecting him anyway because that isn't the end all be all of being disabled in the first place. I suppose it would be nice if it wasn't just treated as a design choice/cosmetic decision though. Even just some mention of him having better hearing or Karen making up for the lack of vision on his right would have been nice. Just it actually being acknowledged in some way is my point I guess.

Even tho Jim is the taller one, the idea of O'Brien putting a hand on Jim's chin and tilting his head down is like, literally killing me.

Jim grabbing O'Brien's hand in public and O'Brien being embarrassed and wanting to pull his hand away but the feeling of Jim's hand in his is far too nice so he ends up just slightly holding Jim's hand back in return.
