in love with supernatural's trope of balance - light and darkness, the empty and creation. the empty exists bc for something to be real, nothing also needs to. angels and demons die and become nothing - they cease to exist. they don't just literally stay somewhere literally sleeping, though that's the way spn chose to verbalize it - they become nothing. when jack woke cas up, he brought cas back to existence. suddenly, there was something where before there was nothing. when that happened, the empty wasn't empty anymore, it wasn't nothing - it become something, it impersonated cas, the only real thing it's ever interacted with, and become mad (a well known feeling for castiel).
