So the other night I had a dream about humans being the dedicated medic species for The intergalactic Union

I brought it up to my friend / found family sister and she pointed out that what if culturally humans are the only ones who really domesticate/tame animals, which would make them uniquely skilled with dealing with the health and safety of creatures that have vastly different biology from them, maybe on other planets medical professionals are only versed in the single type of biology that they need to treat of the people of their planet, meanwhile humans are fucked up and weird and we like poking and prodding and petting things that we shouldn't so we're just really good at navigating foreign biology and making sure everything is where it should be

Why is it far easier to get emotionally attached to something that is so distinctly inhuman?

For me specifically, robots, why can I easily place more emotional investment and attachment onto something that is so mechanical, unable to follow more than its own programming, compared to a living breathing human being, or even another creature?

Why is that imagining a robot, a distinctly mechanical, clearly robotic robot, that could interact with me, even with only a semblance of a simulated consciousness, even one so obviously basic and limited, seem almost ideal compared to going out and talking to people in this society?
