      To tie it up with this headcanon about Kimimaro's kekkei-genkai, I wanted to talk about just how strong his bones actually are in a way that can be understood properly. We've seen in canon that his bones are strong enough to withstand being buried under the sand by Gaara, which isn't so crazy when we keep in mind that: one, his bones are not normal human bones, and two, in general bones are only/mainly made to withstand compressive forces.

      Normal human bones are approximately four times stronger than concrete, given that a cubic inch of bone can in principle bear a load of 19,000 lbs (8,626 kg), and if comparing by weight, a human bone is actually stronger than steel since a bar of steel of comparable size would weigh four or five times as much while having about the same compressive strength.

      A key thing to keep in mind also when talking about Kimimaro and his unique ability, is that bones are live tissue. There are hollow cavities, porous areas, and really dense areas in different parts of a bone. With that in mind, one of Kimimaro's canon abilities is to increase the density of his bones at will, and that is what he does to use his skeleton as a weapon.

      Compressive force resistance is not enough to make him the deadly shinobi he is, he needs impact strength resistance and that is only achieved by him by having denser bones. But denser bones mean heavier bones.

      Steel is generally used for most things that require compressive resistance as well as considerable impact resistance due to its ability to get stronger. Ballistic steel is a tough, bendable, long-lasting, and weldable product with a wide range of applications, it has higher fracture toughness and hardness than most other steel types, making it more resistant to impacts from projectiles or explosives. Other important properties include corrosion resistance, strength-to-weight ratio, and flexibility.

      The thing is, steel us much heavier than bones, and Kimimaro has the ability to carry the weight of steel-like bones and change it at will. This ability is one of the reasons Orochimaru considered him his ideal vessel, a walking bulletproof vest, capable of using his own bones as weapons of mass destruction and shields able to withstand explosive damage.

      Another thing to add is that Kimimaro is heavy, he doesn't look like it and if you were to weight the amount of fat and muscle he has on his body, he would be considered thin but because he can alter the density of his bones at will, he can get extremely heavy as in tons. If you need another example, you could use Kimimaro's bones as support beams and pillars to build houses and buildings, but just as easily use it as a bulletproof shield.

      The man's words only further angered Kimimaro. It was a great offense to him to hear someone speaking of the one he adored in that disrespectful way. To call Orochimaru weak was preposterous, a fallacy so big it almost made him laugh. ❛  You speak of Orochimaru-sama as if you know him. Speak of me as if you've any idea of why I am devoted to him.  ❜

      Kimimaro's previously soft voice became harsher with disdain, mockery in his evergreen eyes as he stared at the man with odd purple eyes. ❛  Only those who are foolish beyond imagination would call him weak.  ❜  the white-haired male did not falter as he saw the intruder taking a stand, in fact it only motivated him to fight. He'd prove to this unknown man why he was called Orochimaru's best and brightest weapon. Why he had been chosen as the ultimate vessel.

      ❛  Tell me, who else should I serve then? You?  ❜ Kimimaro inquired, a hint of a smile on his gentle features. Not a beautiful one, the one he showed only his closest friends. No, this smile was predatory, something uncanny. ❛  A man whose failure to control Orochimaru, to retain him into a pitiful little organisation blinds him with hatred and an ego big enough to spy on the one he calls weak?  ❜

      Kimimaro assumed his fighting stance, evergreen eyes clear and calculating, ready for any attack the intruder might launch at him. ❛  I've no intention of being defeated. And while I don't often leave enemies alive, perhaps Orochimaru-sama might find an use for you, or your eyes if nothing else... ❜ 

A sad thing indeed to stand before one such as this, Sasori had provided the information required through his network of spies, this one was just another vessel, one to be used with the serpent’s failure to take one of there own for himself. Orochimaru knew far too much to be left alive, to freely operate, his actions will bring his defeat in time, but he cannot risk him being captured and interrogated, to spill secrets to protect himself on the Akatsuki and what their true purpose is and always has been.

“Blind devotion to a coward, such a waste of your skill and talent, to serve weakness, you are making a mistake.” He spoke coldly to him, moving his arm as the black rod would slither down his sleeve for him to catch it within his hand, if the child wishes to continue the cycle of battle, to fall into line of the ninja code of his worthless little, another product of a system that only encourages the death of others, then so be it, he will oblige and show him, how much Orochimaru is keeping from him.

“Then so be it, if that is your choice then I shall respect that you have chosen to make this more painful than it was needed for yourself, I will merely defeat you and force the information out from you.”
