I don’t know how active Voltron rp is anymore or if the flames have died down at all yet but, well. I still think about all the potential this universe and its characters have quite often. ^-^

{ I know I’ve been quiet again for a while but I really wanted to drop in and let you guys know I AM working on some stuff involving Lotor! To get his voice back I’ve been dabbling a little with writing the Skyrim crossover fic that I’ve had a plot bunny for for a while...

I’m also going to be doing more with my Space Friends verse (plotted with my sister and using both my Lotor muse and my Yato muse - we’ve been talking off and on about this idea for MONTHS.)

✩ { I still need to finish working on Lotor’s bios, but I have been wanting to address something that’s been a major reason I have been scarce on this muse: season 8 and how I plan to move forward with it in mind. }

I absolutely believe Voltron’s ending was heavily edited to change Allura’s story, pair her with L/ance, and remove Lotor. There are (frankly) amazing metas out there discussing this in depth. I have no doubts he was supposed to be rescued from the Sincline robot by Allura. I’m sure there was SUPPOSED to be a logical explanation for the colony that Lotor was never given a chance to explain.

He was supposed to be an ally in those final fights. And he was meant to go with Allura in the end to restore balance and save all universes. HE was supposed to be the one to gain Altean markings in that scene: proof of passing the White Lion’s trial at last by being willing to GIVE his LIFE in such a manner.

Even had this been the ending, I would have needed to consider “how will I continue writing him?” I like to think he and Allura would have been able to come back somehow, but as it is...

I’m moving forward by setting up a few different verses that take certain plot points different ways. I STILL like the idea of Lotor being the one to learn Shiro was a clone and “betraying” Voltron by fighting him, no colony plot necessary.

And on the topic of the colony, I am sure that whatever WAS going on there, Lotor was attempting to save and preserve life however he possibly could. Any plots dealing with the colony on this blog will need to keep that in mind.

Obviously I am fine with him being morally grey and making hard choices, but I refuse to consider Lotor a monster and I want to give him a better story through my roleplays here.

Herein is contained all the actual textual evidence  I’ve gathered of Voltron Legendary Defender, Season 8 having been edited post-production, as well as a handful of circumstantial conclusions I feel have strong enough textual evidence supporting them to stand up to scrutiny. This is as ship-neutral as I can make it, given a number of the most highly edited scenes are ones that in the edited version of s8 are played as distinctly romantic in nature.
