Here in college, we learn a really difficult math. And when you get here, you’ll be 18 and he’ll be 21. And he just may be smart enough to look at you differently.

Joshy takes care of sick maya? (Right after their deal someday.)
Ok so I don’t know how I feel about this one - ugh idk but let me know how you feel about it and I hope you like it
send me requests
“Family!”
Josh exclaimed as he entered the apartment, arms open and ready to greet everyone. Auggie ran up first, giving him a hug, followed by Riley. A quick scan of the room caused Josh’s happy demeanor to falter, however - Maya wasn’t there. It wasn’t that Josh didn’t love spending time with his family, but one of the best parts of family dinner was always seeing Maya, especially since the ski lodge.
Riley knew he was disappointed Maya wasn’t there - she knew it wasn’t because he liked her any less, but rather, because he really liked Maya. She smirked to herself when she saw his smile fall ever so slightly, knowing why he was suddenly less excited. “Maya can’t come tonight. She’s sick,” Riley explained.  Josh’s brow furrowed, “Katy and Shawn are here, who’s taking care of her?”
Riley laughed a little. “She’s not a kid, Josh, she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself for a couple hours while they come to dinner. Besides, she probably forced them to come and stop bothering her.” He didn’t like it - he didn’t like Maya ever having to take care of herself. He wanted to be the one to take care of her.
“I forgot I have a school thing to do.” Josh’s words were hurried, throwing on his jacket quickly, confusing everyone. “Josh, stay for dinner, school can wait,” Cory tried to rationalize, but Josh just shook his head - “It’s important. I should really go. Have a good dinner.” He left in a rush, with everyone but Riley confused.
————-
Maya was sick; she’d been sneezing all day, and had a sore throat and a fever. She hated admitting it, mostly because her mom went a little crazy, and thus drove Maya crazy trying to care for her. She’d practically had to push both her mother and Shawn out the door to go to family dinner, but the peace and quiet were doing more for her health than their hovering did.
When she heard the knock on the door, Josh was the last person she expected to see - not that she could totally see him. He carried two boxes of pizza with grocery bags piled on top.
“Uncle Boing, care to share what you’re doing here?”
Josh laughed a little, “Nice voice, you sound like you’re plugging your nose.”
“I will close the door on you.”
Josh’s foot shot forward to catch the door. “Maya, come on, I brought you dinner and medicine and movies for us to watch. Play nice.”
She sneezed before opening the door and allowing him in.
“You’re going to get yourself sick by hanging around me,” Maya tried to reason, “Plus if Shawn finds you home alone with me you’re going to be in huge trouble.”
Josh laughed at her threats. “Maya, Shawn will be over at Cory’s for at least three hours. And besides, I don’t care if I get sick, it’ll give me an excuse to skip my awful psychology class.”
He set down the bags and the pizzas and turned to face her, holding in more laughter as he took in her appearance - she wore a fuzzy onesie covered in cupcakes.
“Riley got it for me, I only wear it when I’m sick,” Maya tried to reason for her appearance. Josh just shook his head. “You look beautiful, relax.”
The two started in on the pizzas and Josh put on one of the movies he’d picked up for them to watch. They quickly settled in, Maya snuggling into Josh’s side on the couch. “Thanks for coming,” she whispered as the movie started, and he smiled down at her. “I couldn’t let you just be sick alone. Someone has to take care of you.”
—————-
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Shawn did not want to believe what he was seeing - Maya curled up in a ball against Josh Matthews, both of them asleep, surrounded by empty pizza boxes and bowls of ice cream.
His wife touched his shoulder, softening him a little. “Let them be for the night. We were out later than we planned. I’m glad someone kept her company.”
Shawn was incredulous. “It’s Josh!” He tried to exclaim, pointing at the two cuddled on the couch. but Katy just smiled, “Exactly. It’s Josh - we know him, he’s not a bad kid.”
Shawn sighed, looking back at the two and considering it. “I still don’t like it. And I’m giving the talk when they wake up.” Katy laughed. “Why don’t you come to bed now,” she pleaded, and he agreed, following his wife, but it didn’t stop his train of thought.
Josh Matthews had come into Maya’s life, and by the looks of it he was there to stay.
