Because I made the mesh actually nice this time, I can just draw on this 2D image and paste it onto the mesh to edit the face. Note that that blob in the upper right IS the ear.

I just realized this because if anyone wanted to trace carefully over the eye with their own idea or eye make-up they could do that and send it to me (It would have to have a transparent background) and I could put it on the pony. And that would be pretty funny.

I feel like I'm gonna wanna fiddle with this head sculpt a bit to get the eyes right, so it's nice to test out how it would look painted. Maybe I'll try various expressions on the sculpt.

Sitting here trying to figure out why and what is making the takara pony video do so well

It is performing genuinely 10x better than my other videos. Not an exaggeration, my other videos that have done well got ~200-300 in the first couple days, meanwhile in 2 1/2 days the newest video is at 5k views.

Is it just the takara pony thumbnail is that cute? Is it that there is a date in the title? Is it the blender or the irl sculpting? all of the comments are about the bjd but presumably not everyone saw that bit commented.

Idk, I kind of expected the takara pony to not do so well because its a niche within a niche within a niche.

Way back when I did the Milky Way & GG doll I thought that _that_ video might do well because although MW&GG is niche, a couple doll-adjacent youtubers did videos talking about them not that long before, plus its pretty well known in the mlp/ppg fandom that Faust made those characters.

despite the fact I'm not even done with the base doll, I'm already coming up with additional ideas... one of them being the Fluffy version, obviously inspired by the Big Brother ponies from g1:

but then I was like /make it all fluffy/ so now I want to do variations where the ears are fluffy and the chest piece is fluffy (probably both with and without it being flat chested)

It's the last thing I'm working on and im so close to being able to test out a little pose with armatures

Of course its only at this stage I notice the upper arm being a bit oddly proportioned, but that's sort of because of the shoulder... I should be able to refine that later

I was taking my trash out and i found this Jojo siwa doll at the top of the dumpster (with a bunch of other kids toys and little bags)

Apparently this is a walmart exclusive toy brand

Anyways i felt bad for her and obviously brought her inside. Theres nothing visibly wrong with her, and she looks pretty well taken care of (besides the eye… makeup) so i assume a kid just grew out of her or something. Her hair is still nicely brushed except for one matted bit. She appears to be in her original outfit minus a jacket.

I put her in a plastic bag until i can properly wash her in case theres any gross things on her though

I do also think it would be fun to do paired poses

hm. I also made a hug pose

although i think i know why they wouldnt make a hug pose

Pony armature poses practice

I didn't actually make my pony armature to just try to imitate the og pony toys. I wanted to see if I could make models of *different* poses.

But, noteably, an armature like this doesn't make new stuff perfectly! with all poses I can make with it, I would need to edit the sculpt significantly- and I would want to, anyways, because adding asymmetry and some difference is what makes the poses fun.

Anyways, I went through some of the g4 ponies which have dynamic poses to test new poses

These poses aren't dissimilar to some of the g1 poses: Paradise pose, Truly pose, and Mimic Pose

The difficulty, I iimagine, is creating proper balance for poses. The rearing poses aren't really balanced at all, they come with stands. The only properly "flying" pose is Paradises' pose. Although the above Twilight pose is similar to Mimic, there actually isn't a unicorn pose with a turned head.

Another one that would be fully unbalanced as a doll, however, I really like the idea of a bucking pony toy.

I think a shy Fluttershy pose would be cute, kind of a pegasus variation on the Gusty unicorn pose. Or the petite pony "shy pose" which would be cute in a big pony variation.

I'd like to try a lying down pose, this is one attempt

although I think id prefer a lying down one more like the glory and glory baby pose:

the nice thing about coming back to a project after having already cut it together a while ago is i feel less bad about just deleting everything because i forgot how hard it was to work on it lol

well i finally went back to editing my Takara video because. why not.

I now have to cut down all the gaps that seem too long, although I could just be lazy and put backing music there. idk.
