Ouni backed into the cabinets behind themself and took one hand away from the knife to feel around any other could-be weapons. “Breaking into someone's house and calling yourself innocent isn't a good place to start.” They were a lot quieter than before, their head getting a bit clearer after the surprise of this intruder- a different intruder than they’re used to. Any punch this kid could throw had been thrown at other things many times before don’t get so confident you avian. They breathed in a long breath. “Of course I can cook. But I don’t cook for mangy things like you.” they paused to let the long breath out, which sounded more like a forced sigh- “And don’t get any closer.” Ah-- they’re hand caught hold of something. They kept their eyes on the walking bird nest.
“Oh c’mon, why are you acting so cold? I’m innocent! I was just so hungryyy.” Vegas took another step toward them, not feeling particularly threatened despite a blade pointed at him. Any punch this kid could throw he would definitely return twice as hard. He spoke lightly, ripping off another chunk of the meat in his hand and chewing carelessly. “Birds need to eat a lot, you know? It takes a lot of energy to fly everywhere and grace common people with my presence. You can spare a steak or two, right?”
At the news there were no more cookies for him, the thief groaned childishly. “Whaaaat?? But they were so gooood.” He sprawled himself onto the counter, pouting. After a moment an eager smile graced his features. “Hey, can’t you make more? If you have all this good food you must know how too cook, right?”

“I saw you see that.” “What are you talking about. See what?” “B^l”
In which Araceli gets lost in the woods and encounters a strange mansion that houses some strange kid who can also see spirits. Not that Araceli is admitting to seeing spirits, but Ouni’s castle is crawling with them.

Ouni’s grip on the knife faltered just a little bit when he laughed, then tightened again after a few moments of their ego slightly passing into the floor. “Won’t be very funny when I use it though..” They scrunch of their face. They took a step back as he took some forward, slightly relishing the previous distance that was between them and the.. that. The cocky attitude vaguely reminded them of someone they couldn't quite recall. “Other peoples houses aren't all you can eat buffets.. And--- I need the food, so quit eating it,” They should definitely be speaking with more power, but their fingers were turning numb at the moment. “N-no. That’s all we have right now. Besides, I wouldn't tell you if we did anyway.” Their expression turned a bit more stubborn.
Regardless of it's within a cafe or a castle, noises are heard from within the kitchen, and not the kind btos make. There is an overgrown bird eating their food and it is not Death-kun.
Ouni awoke from a mild nap, though not much of one with things going on all the time. This was a very different sound, and given the single sibling they did have was never around annually- and it definitely wan’t their parents- it had to be some sort of obtuse intruder. After a short surprised pause of just listening to the noises they stood up and walked down the stairs to the dining room, tip-toeing quietly with their breath held over to the kitchen. Clearer to differentiate now, the obnoxious sound of clanging, shuffling and crinkling filled their ears and they held their breath. Then glanced at the knife rack just in sight in the crack between the door. It’s fine. It’s only a matter of footsteps away and whatever is in there wont be able to move fast enough to get them before they get it. Probably.Holding the handle of one of the doors and pushing gently as to not make the entire mansion creak with age, Ouni slid through and made a quick dash to the knives, not even turning to look at the trespasser until they swiped the largest knife they could comprehend before swinging around to get a look at the…. …. the bird? That’s definitely not a bird.“… . . P-please don’t move!” does it even speak english? Nice one. “I um, I have a weapon.”
