albedo barely looks fazed at your sudden declaration, and although he gives you his usual calm smile, you can see the warmth in his clear eyes and the way he stares at you as if you’re the loveliest thing in teyvat (which, in his opinion, you are) “𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐢 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐨 𝐦𝐞, 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭.”

al haitham chuckles in amusement, as if he finds your words illogical - though you don't miss the redness that floods the tips of his ears that says otherwise. he brings your forehead closer until they touch, piercing greens staring right at your soul, “𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨? 𝐢’𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬.”

ayato’s eyebrows quirks up, a soft smile growing on his lips like freshly blooming camellias. he laughs under his breath before reaching out to your hand and intertwining your fingers in a tight, reassuring grip, "𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.”

childe’s breath hitches - he was not expecting anything like that coming from you when you called his name. caught off guard, pink dusted his cheeks and he gives you a shy grin, a shy laugh, and a shy look as he brings up one of his hands, jutting the last of his fingers, eyes shining with hope, “𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞?”

cyno blinks and falls into a contemplative silence. you can hear the gears turning in his brain as he tries to deduce if he has to read further into your words, but one look at the determination in your eyes makes him break into a gentle smile, his arms pulling you close as he deposits a kiss between your brows, “𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? 𝐢'𝐦 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢'𝐦 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐢 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝?”

diluc thinks he can combust into fire right then and now; it’s a struggle for him to remain composed, as the color of his face gradually shifts to match the color of his hair. in an attempt to preserve his dignity, he brings one hand to your cheek and gives you what he hopes is a suave smile (though from your perspective they look more like a lovesick grin), “𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐢 𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝.”

gorou’s tail begins to do a 360 at maximum speed, it’s a wonder how he hasn’t flown off the ground by this point. his ears twitch and he shifts on his legs, hopeful green eyes searching for something in yours, “𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲? 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭? 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢-𝐢’𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮! 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫!”

heizou swiftly turns his momentary surprise into his signature teasing smirk. although, if you look closely enough his hands are slightly trembling as he cups your cheeks to plant a kiss onto your nose, “𝐦𝐲, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐨 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞~”

itto blinks and takes a while to process your words, but when he does, he replies to your confession with a massive grin and determined oni eyes, fangs bared as he flexes his muscles as if it’s something that will help him in his conquest to win your heart first (it probably will), “𝐨𝐡, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?! 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥, 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 ‘𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢’𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧!!”

kaeya chokes on his spit, eyes blinking rapidly as he stares at you. my, it seems that you’ve managed to catch him off guard by your sudden confession. the navy blue-haired cavalry captain clears his throat, his eyes gleaming, as he gives you a trembling grin and a laugh, before leaning your foreheads to each other, “𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭…. 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬, [𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞].”

kazuha smiles wider and closes his eyes to savor the happiness enveloping his chest. his hand seeks yours to place a loving kiss on the back of your palm, and his voice is just as filled with adoration, if not a tad breathless, “𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐢 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝.”

scaramouche rolls his eyes at your cheesy words and crosses his arms in mock irritation; just as he always does whenever you show him the slightest bit of affection at first. but his tone is far too soft and quiet when he replies, and he makes no attempt to move away when you pout and cling to him. “𝐡𝐦𝐩𝐡. 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞.” “𝐰𝐡-𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞?! 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞-”

tighnari tilts his head and cocks one of his eyebrows upwards, tall ears twitching and fluffy tail swishing slowly behind him. somehow you’re the one who’s getting embarrassed now, and he watches in amusement as you start stumbling over your excuses, trying to escape. “𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬…,” with a chuckle, his arms wound around you and he nuzzles his face onto your neck, “… 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? 𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜 𝐟𝐨𝐱𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲.”

xiao gasps audibly and looks away, reds creeping up his neck to fully envelop his whole face. his eyes are glassy when he finds the courage to return your patiently waiting gaze, and though his voice is shaky you can feel the resolve in each and every word, “𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐢 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭.”

zhongli’s eyes droop into soft honey full of warmth and joy as he sees the sincerity in your whole being the moment those words leave your lips. as he pulls you into a passionate kiss, you think you hear him replying in a hushed voice - “𝐢 𝐚𝐦 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢 𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧.”

𝑚𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡 ⬙ 𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡

zhongli, the traditional man that he is, will buy you flowers every now and then. but once in a while, he will give you your favorite teyvat flower variety… with a twist. they’re made of carefully crafted cor lapis. just like how the finest cut of diamonds glitter beautifully under watchful eyes, your flower is just as ethereal, and just as eternal as his love.

xiao’s signature qingxin flower is quite literally always on your person - well, at least a part of it. he gives you a crystallized, freshly bloomed petal, imbued with his blessing, for you to use as a pendant of your necklace or a charm on your bracelet/anklet. seeing it glint under the sunlight as you call his name is a sight he would never trade for anything else.

kazuha gives you at least a flower a day, and they vary from small wildflowers to a full fresh batch of blooms, but they’re always given to you from familiarly bandaged hands and accompanied by a sweet smile and warm, twinkling cherry-colored eyes. and with each flowers you try to preserve, the wandering inazuman feels himself fall for you even deeper.

al haitham gives you a full bouquet of flowers which can be barely held by some random colored ribbon that doesn't always match the bouquet’s color scheme, whenever he has to leave you for a period of time because of his work. little did you know each flower is grown by his own vision every time he thinks of you and misses your presence.

heizou leaves you random papers containing riddles almost every single day, and they're usually accompanied by random things, including pretty little flowers he found from searching through byakko plains for clues about the recent case he's investigating… when he comes to see you later, he sees them on the vase by your desk, and he gives you a teasing yet also lovesick, grin.

albedo gives you some kind of otherworldly flower that took him days of pondering and researching about how to make it bloom using his alchemy skills. they’re one-of-a-kind and magical, and even though most of the time they wither within a day no matter how you tried to care for them, he will gladly gives you kisses in exchange.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
