summary: Your best friend, JJ Maybank, has been a constant presence in your life since Kie introduced you at the playground in first grade. From that moment on, the two of you were inseparable. However, as time passes, you begin to wonder if the bond you share transcends mere friendship.

part one

JJ Maybank has been a fixture in your life for as long as you can recall,

their paths first crossing on your inaugural day of first grade, courtesy of your mutual friend, Kie. The first detail that captivated you upon meeting JJ was the striking expanse of his ocean blue eyes.

Of course, at the ripe age of six, you weren’t thinking to infatuation, your affections easily won by anyone who offered the tiniest drop of attention your way.

As the years unfolded, and you and JJ became incredibly linked, it swiftly became apparent that your feelings of a mere childhood crush, became something far more profound.

The Pogues, however, have always had their “no pogue on pogue macking” rule, yet understood its purpose – to safeguard the unique and unbreakable bond shared by the pogues.

By high school, JJ had become your source of joy. While you cherished the other Pogues, nothing could compare to the connection, the deep-seated friendship, you shared with JJ.

it was a hot sunny day in the obx with a uv on 9, you and all the pogues were out surfing, tanning, and just having fun as usual

that was until you saw the same people who always have to ruin your guys day, the troubled three, Rafe Cameron, Topper Thornton, and Kelce.

they just always have to ruin something they knew you guys were there and just wanted to start something “omg of course” I say watching as they all get out then truck

“what?” sarah asks pulling her sunglasses down and looking in the direction i was looking at “god dammit” “I’ll handle him” Sarah tells you while she smacks your ass

you giggle as you watch her walk off and can quietly hear her telling rafe to fuck off, you look in the water as you stare jj down while he’s surfing with John b and pope

“whatcha looking at love” kie asks with a big smirk on her face “n-nothing just the sunset” you reply “you just lied straight out your teeth” kie says with a laugh

“fine jj” as kie being one of your closest friends you told her about your feelings toward jj how could you not you needed to get it out and now it’s kind of been a thing she teases you about every now and then

“babe he clearly likes you like cmon look at you!” kie says while a point to you “thanks kie but i don’t wanna hear it until you shoot your shot with pope, that boy is head of his mf heels for you” you laugh

“yes but you know the rule no pogue on pogue macking yn” kie defends “nobody even follows that rule anyways i hear john b and Sarah fucking like every night” you say as you pretend to gag.

“what about me and john b” sarah says as she pops up behind you, you look around and don’t see the troubled three anymore with relief you sign

“yk just how you guys never get the idea how we can hear almost everything” you say as you raise your eyebrows and softly hit her shoulder

“hey don’t be mad it’s me and john b and not you and jj” sarah defends herself “fuck you!” you laugh, as you turn back to the ocean you see the boys walking up

“hi boys” kie says as they get closer to us, you can’t help but look at JJs perfectly toned and muscular abs but you quickly look up knowing you’d never hear the end of it if you got caught

“hey yn wanna catch a few waves?” jj asks as he sits on the sand next of your towel “i would but it’s getting close to sunset hour” everyone of the pogues knew your absurd fear of swimming at sunset because of your fear of sharks

kind of a bad fear to have when you live in obx but that wasn’t something you could control,

it’s now around 9:30 and Sarah and John b had gone back to the chateau about 20 minutes ago you, kie, jj and pope decided to stay back a little longer to the sacred of your own ears

you all decided to start walking back with it only being a 15 minute walk to the chateau, kie and pope walked ahead of you guys and being the amazing friend you are you of course had to snap a picture of them walking together

you walk into the door of the chateau and don’t have a sight of John b nor Sarah assuming they were most likely asleep you go to see which was definitely not a smart idea

as you open the door you instantly cover your eyes as apologies start spilling out your mouth walking in on a scene you definitely could’ve avoided

as you walked out back into the living room you started bursting out laughing while kie is begging you to tell her what just happend as when you tell her your both dying of laughter

you and kie usually slept on the couch together and pope and jj shared Jj’s room but tonight was different you were all on the couch watching a new show that had just came out

“Adolescence”

you saw it on tiktok and it seemed interesting so of course everyone else agreed to watch it seemingly as nothing else seemed appealing atm

kie had fallen asleep on popes shoulder and pope had his head on her head sleeping, it was just you and jj up so in prevention to waking up the love birds you too went to JJs room

finishing up the show in his room, you actually quite enjoyed the show it was a really good outlook on the suspects point of view but had a good plot

you still had your jean shorts and a yellow tube top on from the beach and it wasn’t abnormal for you to steal Jj’s clothes

you went into his closet and grabbed one of his hoodies and took of your jean shorts, you weren’t worried about wearing shorts since the hoodie covered everything it needed to

you crawled back into the bed next to jj and noticed he was staring at you the entire time “j you good” you asked with a light but still big smile “yes love” love was a nickname jj called you starting in 7th grade

it wasn’t anything like that but he loved to call you it knowing it was something only he could call you, “goodnight j” you say as you turn the other way to get comfortable and turn off the bedside light “goodnight yn”
