ERSATZ. A surreal horror about an amnesiac in an endless war, with the first episode underway as an independently animated pilot.

Heard in this trailer:

‘Mophead’ (Danny Spiller), a nameless soldier of the Crown Army and protagonist of Ersatz. A terrified amnesiac, they have no idea who they are or why they're here - but they're expected to fall in line like everyone else.

Warwick (Ian Russel), a contam soldier of the Crown Army. With the rank of Corporal, he's seen it all, and over the course of his service his gas mask has gradually fused to his skin.

Munroe (Patrick Langner), a contam soldier of the Crown Army. Rotated in from the Northern front, he keeps his head down and does his job... But it seems like he's seen something he shouldn't have.

I think the key of it is thinking about the message being conveyed, and also how that has to take into account how a person engages with this fiction For example, a lot of the arguments for the 'normalization' of a subject matter assume an audience or a creator inherently desire the things in a piece of media to happen. But you gotta understand that an action movie is not an endorsement of actual real-world violence, Grand Theft Auto is not an endorsement of crime, or that Vampire Fiction (even the outright porn) is not an endorsement of real-world power imbalances and rape. Because you engage with these things with the understanding they are fiction, and are there to make you feel something. In this respect, these are sharing emotions and not inherently an argument for the things they are depicting. This is especially true when it comes to like, porn and horror and the like, where a huge amount things being depicted are sorta glamorizing something horrible. But that doesn't mean you are supposed to come out thinking it would be cool if these actually happened Media literacy means understanding that even what seems to be outright glorification of activities in the real world are not inherently an endorsement of it. But the keyword there is "Inherently." That does not mean that media cannot be used to spread negative ideas. That ranges from propaganda, to things made arguing in favour of racism (ie, Birth of a Nation, the entire practice of minstrel shows) to the occasional piece of media where that sexual expression is -actually- saying that women should be abused (ie, the later entries in the Gor fantasy series which has... Fucked up ideas about gender.) To put another way, Jaws was not bad merely because it was using the Scary Shark stereotype - Lots of Shark Media does that, including the imagery for Discovery's Shark Week which did a lot to argue in favour of sharks and treat them with respect. Rather, Jaws was bad because it further endorsed a societal hatred of sharks, and essentially argued - accidentally or otherwise - that sharks were inherently dangerous and evil animals Ultimately, you gotta actually look into media and think about media and what it is saying. The argument that fiction is fiction just means that the mere depiction of something - even when portrayed positively - is not actually arguing in favour of it without additional context (And even if it's ultimately arguing in favour of something bad - That does not inherently mean de-platforming and censorship is the response either. I obviously disagree with some of the messages of Jaws, but I would never want it banned or censored for it)

I support the "fiction isn't real so nothing matters" mindset but tbf at a certain point it can tip over into "the curtains are just blue" territory

My conspiracy theory is that they did this even though no one complained about Dr Hibbert just to test the waters of replacing actors for this decades-old show.

A lot of the Simpsons voice actors are audibly aging out of their role, and the show has had to awkwardly deal with multiple character retirements following voice actor deaths But if they establish a precedent that side characters can just have their VA's replaced then this show could theoretically eventually replace even characters like Marge, who is obviously struggling to keep up that voice

I hate that they replaced Dr Hibbert's voice Carl is fine. He just sounds like Carl but with a new voice actor. Dr Hibbert is distracting every time he speaks and can't get the laugh right
