here’s a thought: the reason why adult/minor friendships are looked upon with suspicion, and the reason why adults with minor friends are accused of being predatory or having bad intentions, is because we think that minors don’t have anything of value to offer adults that isn’t sex/a relationship. it’s a continuation of the way adults devalue minors and their perspectives and contributions to the world.

So it was a white woman who killed Botham Jean, and a white woman who killed Dante Wright, and it’s been white women at the center of almost every video of someone unjustly calling the police on black people, and it’s white women who have been directly or indirectly responsible for many horrific massacres of black peoples across the US like the one in Wilmington and the famous Tulsa massacre, and it’s white women who have a deep history of weaponizing their white womanhood by falsely accusing black men of rape even so much as to accuse black children like emmet till which resulted in the entire civil rights movement, and white women who constructed the idea of preserving the confederacy, and it’s white women who have gained freedom by steeping on the backs of black women, and white women who have fought to preserve the racist ideals of the 50s Nuclear family, and the list goes on and on and on and on.
So are we ready to talk about how white women are not incidental participants in white supremacy but rather the architectures and safe-guards of it?

american fascism is becoming increasingly reliant on this narrative of helplessness and feigning weakness. shooting a black man fatally, going on tv and crying about it being an accident, and flying a flag asking for people to pity and support your organization while you are pepper balling protestors in the street. i think it’s meant to reverse the narrative of “injustice” back onto the protest movement itself, because the summer protests proved that a huge amount of people will stand up to perceived injustice. here it seems like the police are trying to frame themselves as the victims of a “mob” that is “overreacting to a mistake”. obviously if you’re following my blog on tumblr you’re not going to fall for this shit but it’s truly heinous and it needs to be pointed out

nah because at this point if youre white and your reason behind defunding over abolish is something like “i want to be able to call the police if i am in danger” you’ve already lost the little respect you had from me and i’m not gonna bother listening to a word you have to say. you have already proven to me that you believe YOUR life and safety is more important than that of an entire race of people (and not just Black people, in US at least any non WASP group who is not cis male and het is inherently a target for police). you’ve proven that despite countless of Black people dead at the hands of police, directly or in directly, what concerns you most is how your white life will suffer and lose power if my Black life is a little more protected.
ion speak for everyone but i know that i, a young Black woman, wanna be able to call someone if i’m in danger too. you think i don’t wanna believe there are institutions to keep me safe??? in an ideal world, i believe and know there is an institution with my interests at heart and my life as a priority that is ready to protect me and my peers. BUT THERE ISNT. in fact that institution actively wants and needs me and my peers dead. it has been built that way since it’s creation. with this in mind, it just feels like to me that the reasons white liberals have to be against abolition are so fucking selfish. it’s all about YOUR safety. YOUR property. YOUR white ass life.
Black people absolutely cannot coexist with the police. we end up dead and our killers run free. if you can you know of Emmett, Tamir, Trayvon, Breonna, Rayshard, Stephon, Alton, George, or most recently Daunte, and still be worried about your own life and safety as a white person who benefits from these cases, then you really do not give a fuck about Black people and i wish y’all would stop pretending you do. i really feel like it’s not up to fucking debate anymore. for the sake of Black lives, the police must be abolished.

This tiny octopus, whose body measured about five centimeters across, was spotted swimming along at a depth of 825 meters as we explored Whiting Seamount, off Puerto Rico.
