Is it feasible to step back in time in the first chapter, then step back further six chapters later. Or would I be better off using the second step back as an introduction preface and leave it to the reader to work out, slowly, as the penny drops ?

It’s been in the hands of a publisher for nearly five years now. They’ve just let me know that they are to part company with me, gutted that they took me off their website beforehand though. Not surprised really, that’ll teach me for going with a vanity publisher, at least that’s what all the reports told me after I’d signed up with them. So now I’m looking for a new publisher. What this piece was going to be about was, when, and how did I decide to write it all down. When I was fourteen and unbelievably found myself without any jobs to do for the old man. I sat myself down at the table in the conservatory with a foolscap jotter and pen and began to write in my best handwriting. I’m left handed so soon the back of my hand and little finger were blue with the rubbing against fresh ink. That was when I was in Fareham Park School, the year was 1975, but even then I was remembering back to when I was nine, and my story’s beginnings. I hid my work away under the bed lest it be discovered, until one day I was late with an English Literature assignment, and had the thought to hand it in. A week later Mr Gosden gave it back to me and asked if I had written that all, if it truly was my own work.
When I nodded he looked at me and said “ you should write a book” embarrassed by this I blurted out that I would need to get it edited, “I’ll do that for you” he said…. I’m in my sixties now, there have been a few people in my life who have said deeply motivational things and he was one of them. God bless him.

So here I am, Owen Thomas at your service. The two pics posted are my book. It’s a long story which I’m happy to tell you. That’s the idea of putting it out there on a social media site. It’s a tough read people, and a lot of it’s true, there are changes for dramatic purposes and continuity. I first got the idea to write it all down when I was fourteen, in 1975. I’m sixty two now. In 2019 I finally sent a manuscript to a publisher for consideration. My life’s work, because I’m not an educated man with college degrees or experience. Just an ordinary guy with an extraordinary story to tell, and a yearning to get it out there. It’s about child abuse. Mental and physical abuse and it’s a tough read. If it’s okay with you people I will periodically blog little posts here telling you more of how it eventually happened and my thoughts while writing. How much crying happened and how dark the journey back to revisit my past was, more importantly how I’ve come out the other side and am now on my second book. Please feel free to drop me a message of support if you would be so kind, and of course if you’re interested……Owen
