As the largest dry cave of Tu Lan cave system, Hang Tien has been formed for over 6 million years with a length of more than 2500m and up to 94m deep. During the summer, Hang Tien is a dry cave but in the wet season, it turns into a huge canal, creates numerous terraced-field-shaped stalactites nested inside Hang Tien. Cave experts have researched and evaluated that the size of these awe-inspiring stalactites only accretes about 1 cm within 10,000 years.

Son Doong cave is located in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The colossal size of this cave will have you gasping in awe and make you feel like you’ve entered Jurassic Park in real life.

This cave is almost 3 million years old and is the ultimate cave experience for adventure and exploration enthusiasts worldwide! Son Doong is so huge and has its own jungle, river and even its own climate! It was explored in 2009-2010 by the British Cave Research Association (BCRA).

One of the things that put Son Doong at the summit of the top caves to visit in the world is its enormous size. At over 9km long, with sections reaching up to 200m tall and 150m wide, Son Doong Cave is large enough to house an entire New York City block, complete with 40 story skyscrapers. With a total measured volume of 38.5 million cubic meters, this comfortably surpasses Deer Cave in Malaysia, which was considered to be the previous record holder.

🔻 Caving in the ultimate underground world of Hang Va cave

Hang Va is an exceptional river cave and is based deep inside the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. This cave is considered by researchers, travelers, and cavers to be one of the most beautiful underground caves on our planet, and swimming inside the passage of the Hang Va is an experience you’ll treasure forever.

Caving in Hang Va will see you squeeze through some tight spots, wade and swim through a crystal clear river inside the cave, do some bouldering and traverse some technical sections using ropes and other caving equipment. While you’re inside Hang Va, you will find yourself surrounded by colorful cave formations, rare stalagmites called Tower Cones, and magnificent cascades spread across an entire passage that reaches a width of about 85m.

The activities on the Hang Va Expedition are surely exciting with adventurers who are passionate about photography or looking for a great time of exploring; it includes 8km of trekking, 100 meters cave swimming, 30 meters of crawling through some incredible sections and 20 meters of rope traversing on a wall of limestone.

The historic flood in 2020 had flooded 50% of Ban Doong village, including the Ban Doong school. Since the school was made from wooden materials, it floated on the water but when the water drained out, it could not return to its original position and was partly inclined, leading to a high risk of collapsing. As requested by the local authorities, the school administration and the people of Ban Doong, The Oxalis Foundation decided to build a new school for Ban Doong with the support from different stakeholders.

A trekking trail crossing many slopes is the only way to reach the village as there is no road leading there. Oxalis Foundation had called for 125 Son Doong porters with a total of 600 working days to carry by hand 80 tons of materials and equipment from Ho Chi Minh Highway West into Ban Doong village to build the school.

After three months of construction, on March 31, 2021, Ban Doong School officially cut the ribbon and put into use. The completed two-story school has 6 rooms, including 4 classrooms and 2 rooms for teachers. It was built on high ground with a total of 150 square meters, completely safe and secure for children as well as local people to stay in during floods.
