Tldr of this is au is that the road trip loops back south for a casino/resort/beach/boat hopping old man vacation featuring some love confessions until jon finds out about ikky, they fight, and he goes back to gotham. Angry at both jon and himself, edward fucks off to a luxury resort in the florida keys thinking a well earned solo vacation will make him feel better (it doesn't). He wastes away in margaritaville until jon comes back (imagining hes doing way better than he is) finding him on the beach at night drunk off his ass and drags him out of it a la calhoun ghost.

I fuck with anons idea heavy actually that's so funny. Margaritaville au but they initially return to Gotham together then Ed starts to miss him and Jon's pre fight old man vacation along the gulf so he invites Cosmo to go to the Keys with him.

Pray they don't make it out of the airport because Cosmo will become his full-time therapist.

Hear me out. After the dinner disaster, Eddie decides to go vacationing with his hairdresser to clear his head, which results in a cliche sequence of Jon taking a taxi and running to the airport before Ed gets on the plane.

see this is an entertaining proposition but CONSIDER ☝️ the real context to the margaritaville doodle was an au that me and @oxygen-stealer have been playing table tennis with where the ikky thing comes out sooner and jon goes back to gotham alone, leaving ed to have a month-long calhoun-style depressive episode in the florida keys 💔 hes wasting away in margaritaville FOR REALLLL. ok let me try to find what i said on this subject "meanwhile jon finds out about this in a vague general sense and is like ugh i bet hes not even bothered about me he loves being free of worrying about my dumb ass he doesnt care about anything im so stupid for coming here to check on him and then finds ed like blind drunk stumbling down the beach at night in the cold and is like Oh Hes Fucked Up Big Time"

i rest my case. theres a narratively significant doodle in my brain attached to this but im sooooo busy so its not real yet. anyway continued:

"and ed drunk as hell sees like. jonathan crane in a big coat and boots with ikky on his shoulder walking towards him down the beach and is like. this is a fucking hallucination this cannot be real. and then it becomes evidently real and hes like okay what the fuck <3 why <3 are you here to laugh at me <3 and jonathans like jesus christ ed i thought you were. never mind. come with me. and puts his coat over eds shoulders and drags him to his car or something. ed acts like he doesnt need or want jons coat and hes NOT cold its NOT even cold out jon why were you wearing that ANYWAY but then clutches onto it and refuses to let go of it"
