how are you handling non negotiable things with little miss deals? frankly I love her.

This is going to sound like so hippie mom-esque but there's just not a lot (that's come up so far) that is non negotiable. Like, it's a funny silly post but her making deals is just her 4 year old way of trying to tell me her feelings and boundaries on a subject. If she says I don't want to go to school, deal that like prompts me to stop and ask hey why don't you want to go to school? Do you feel tired, sick, sad, etc? If she can't tell me I mean I'm here mom I can usually sus out what's wrong and make a deal around it, like "what about you go to school this morning and when you get home you and mama will play a game together, deal?" if she agrees she agrees and if she doesn't she'll like- counter? In her four year old way - but she's recognized that I've established that she's going to school.

I think it's helpful that I always hold my end of the deal up and I don't make deals I can't keep.

We also, break glass in case of emergency, have "That's a Mama Rule" which is the card I've only had to pull like 3 times in her life in very dire and stressful situations which she knows to mean "hey - this is to keep you safe and I can not explain now but I will always explain when we are safe again" and she knows what a Mama Rule is because I told her "a Mama Rule is something that you have to do to keep you safe no questions asked, but if you do it you will stay safe and mama will explain as soon as it is safe to do so deal?" And she understands that.

Idk man I just explain everything to her I'm sure it drives the people in my life insane 🤣
