we are confronted with the reality that none of this was ever guaranteed, and we only gave up on the thrill of our dreams because we were too afraid to see what else was possible

notes for near future 21 year old me

Whatever you decide from now on matters, whether that means putting that extra hour into writing a postgrad application, or cut down on watching another TV show, it makes a difference.

Appreciate the time (left) as an undergrad. I can only imagine postgrad becoming more hectic.

Surround yourself with people you love. Appreciate them for giving themselves to you to love them.

Its ok to say no. Remember, the system will support itself with the right people. And even if there isn't, something will happen (for better or for worse), but not everything is going to be physically possible to care for, nor should it be your responsibility.

Stop spending your money aimlessly. (Dad and Mum have worked great lengths to provide for you, it is a privilege to be overseas and studying something you love. Or should be loving at least)

Find a way to love what you do no matter how difficult it gets.

Love yourself. Remember to make time for yourself.

World AIDS Day

A day for raising the general awareness of HIV/AIDS, every 1st December is designated to spawn a series of campaigns around the globe to help counter the spread of the diseas through a better general understanding. With over 6300 people contracting HIV everyday (that’s 262 every hour!), the need to have a good understanding of the issue remains as pertinent as ever.

Great Gatsby’s Visual Effects Are Amazing!

Chris Godfrey, the visual effects supervisor for the film The Great Gatsby, put together a fantastic reel showcasing the work involved in creating Gatsby’s New York.

Godfrey has been the visual effects coordinator for nearly all of Baz Luhrman’s films, and for the first time we get a chance to see all of the incredible work he and his team have put in.

End of year Tumblr post at the airport...

Good bye year two, you've been good to me - in certain areas anyways. from academic to societies, to acquaintances and friends. Many goodbyes (and some tears shed) were said in the last few days, but these truly will be lasting memories - 'no questions will be asked (kinda)' -- you're truly special.
