I mean think about it.

Narratively, valkyries are basically angels. It barely makes sense for them to be able to die at all, much less just cease to exist. I don't usually set up an afterlife in my fics, but like- the Aether is already representative of heaven, what else would I do with their souls? And unlike in SOTF, where the valkyries turn into Allays, the only time we've seen a valkyrie be relevant after they're dead was wither-Sirben.

Hence, reincarnation. For valkyries, that also means that Notch has a limited pool of souls that he's pulling from, so he can't just generate infinite valkyries (where did the first ones come from? uh, Notch, but anyway). It would also mean that Sirben's soul is either in limbo or is currently a 5-year-old valkyrie.
