Book Launch/Lançamento do Livro:
“Eu, Luiz de Freitas, Mr. Wonderful”
Written by Dininha Morgado.
From the dust cover front flap:
" Not by chance, his first big client was Fernando Gabeira, recently returned from exile. After all, it was a “broad, general and unrestricted amnesty”. He has made clothes and costumes for many TV, film and theater stars. Famous foreigners went crazy: Prince, Nureyev, Freddie Mercury and Gaultier filled suitcases. Gianni Versace bought boxes of MW cologne as gifts for friends. These people consumed and inspired Luiz's small revolution, who at that point had already built his dream factory with more than two hundred employees. He gave up fancy addresses to have a structure with a factory and studio in the same space, at the foot of the Petrópolis mountain range (interior of RJ), where he produced and trained new professionals. He even had a printing shop just to produce his creations in small quantities. Soon other brands were born. It was Luiz de Freitas' irreverence at its best: creative extravagance. As a store, MW had 10 successful years, with branches in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Amsterdam, Porto and Lisbon, as well as a showroom in New York."
