Sobriety.

Not that anyone gives a shit, or will even read this tbh, but I’ve been sober for over a month now and it’s by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. After being in a constant state of depression for the last few years, I often questioned if I could ever enjoy my life with a clear head. I never had a chance to step back and analyze what was truly hurting me and causing me to feel this way. Recently, a very traumatic event sent me into the darkest point in my life where I was forced to take a hard look at myself and re-evaluate my life from the ground up. I have to say, it was a blessing in disguise. Through these circumstances, I was able to see the mental and emotional trauma I was experiencing and found new ways to reinvent myself. I realized, I don’t need this to survive. I’m finally able to step outside and naturally enjoy the world around me. The world feels different. The air feels and smells different. I’m able to find beauty and appreciation in things I never thought twice about before. And ultimately, I’ve found things to be thankful for, new reasons to live and survive. I’m so proud of the person I’m becoming, and how much stronger I am now. My biggest motivator in life is my son. I’ve never wanted anything more than to be an amazing mother to him and give him the life and happiness he deserves. He is my light when I feel surrounded by darkness. He is my will to live and my reason to be an even better person than I was before. I would move heaven and earth for my child and just the thought of him is enough to keep me going. I feel myself changing every single day, I’m even reconsidering religion and losing the hateful side of me. Sobriety has made the world more beautiful and meaningful to me. I vow to myself to strive to continue to do and be better. And I have not looked back once.  and fuck anyone who ever made me feel bad about myself or left me at my lowest. I’ll never forget that shit.
