Hey! Would you ever do a longer fic of Sirius/Lily if James died and Sirius relationship with Harry if it happens.

I am seeing 14 year old teenager Harry disobeying his mother and Sirius having to intervene with a "you're not my father"

and Lily needing help with a 2 year old Harry. More fluff than anything else.

you know i had a completely mapped out longfic with this exact premise, lol.

sirius and lily coparenting platonically at first, because it feels so natual, and over the years the grief and intimacy just...takes its natural course. and it's fine, really, because of COURSE sirius would step in, but at the same time--he hates himself for replacing james, you know? he hates that harry will never remember his real father. he hates that james' wife loves him in a way she shouldn't, he hates how he feels the same way...

ok cool if lupin was so careful and worried about hurting people why did he play it so fast and loose with his wolfsbane potion and put everyone at the school at risk? why did he put them at risk EVERY month while at school? why did he hide the fact that sirius was an animagus when harry’s life was in danger? why didn’t he tell dumbledore about the secret passages into hogwarts? since he loves and cares about harry’s safety so much.

he’s busy with order missions, he’s a werewolf, he’s poor—ok. sirius survived on rats to be with harry when he needed him. lupin couldn’t write harry one shitty little letter when he was enrolled into the literal Death Tournament.

your argument about lupin somehow being a great guardian is null!

yes. absolutely.

i am on the record that unrequited prongsfoot is canon [and i'm right to be]. and i'm also on the record that - since unrequited prongsfoot is canon - the most enjoyable way to read sirius and lily's relationship is to inject the tiniest little bit of resentment under his otherwise great affection for and commitment to her, and to imagine him thinking [even though he feels terrible for doing so] that she's the person who took the love of his life away from him.

there's a lot of this in petunia's relationship with james too - albeit, obviously, from a familial, rather than romantic, perspective. she thinks that james and his evident contempt for her simple muggle life are the final blow to her relationship with lily, smashing the cracks already caused by snape [who sirius also hates, for being the person who caused lily to get james' attention in the first place!] and rendering it irreparable.

therefore, while she and sirius would approach their resentment of jily in very different ways [i can never be convinced by the idea that sirius would be rude or hostile to lily - he's more a noble, suffering-in-silence, sacrificing-himself-so-james-can-be-happy kind of lad - but petunia is straightforwardly unpleasant], they both have that deeply compelling hook of existing outside of jily's relationship, looking in and wanting it to be different.

i genuinely ship it. i also reckon she'd love a spin on the bike. even if she'd pretend otherwise.

I’ve just learned about the loss of my buddy’s dear friend, Brent Chavez.

His fiancée Sarah (along with their two cats, Jericho and Olive Juice) are left without any sort of safety net in the aftermath, as she’s a student who relied on his income. She and the kitties are now forced to relocate on top of having to mourn the man she loves, and it’s horrible—she has no idea what she’s going to do.

My friend has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses, as well as to help Sarah and the cats navigate the tragedy. Again, if you can’t afford to donate, just reblogging is beyond helpful!

This is an illustration of @arliedraws one-shot "Scars". I completely fell in love with this fine little work of literature, so much I immediately knew I had to paint an illustration of it! Here is a snippet which inspired me for this illustration: ~~~

“You know what my family was like,” Sirius pressed. “You can imagine I’m not used to telling people that I care about them. So maybe it’s not clear to you, but I love you very much—”

It sounded like Sirius’s voice was coming from the end of a long tunnel, and Harry had the sudden urge to shove him back onto the floor. The feeling of a thumb rubbing against his knuckle kept him from floating away.

“—You’re the most important thing to me,” Sirius was saying. “I would die before I let anything happen to you.”

“But I don’t want you to die!” Harry said. “That’s what I’m afraid of the most!”

Heat rushed into his face, and he pulled his hands away, tucking them back under his crossed arms. He couldn’t explain to Sirius that it would destroy him to lose the only parent he’d ever known; he couldn’t look him in the eye for fear that Sirius would guess the truth.

But Sirius reached and guided Harry’s chin so that their gazes met; the soft concern he wore nearly made Harry leap from the settee and run back to his room.

chapter three: aldebaran

he doesn’t listen to a word anyone else says - moody muttering something about expanding the watch rota to include ollivanders, kingsley telling everyone the rumours about scrimgeour - he thinks about how snape’s blood would coat his mouth - would cling to his teeth - if he savaged him, if he tore at him - if he gorged himself on him, like a vampire - and he thinks about how the flesh of snape’s throat - the muscles and the vertebrae, the crunching cartilage of the windpipe - would get stuck between his teeth, how he’d be picking the taste of snape out of his teeth for days afterwards.

his leg hurts and his lungs hurt and he needs -

the war begins in earnest, the ministry is in disarray, and sirius' hopes are shattered.

and he knows just who to blame.
